GA Only! kthxbai....

6 pages on my first whinge! WOOT! Seriously though, it was late, I was frustrated and just wanting to vent in a very public kind of way, like the drama queen I like to pretend I'm not.

It's been, what, 2 weeks since the update? And until then axe/axe was considered the superior weapon of choice for war. But now, I'm gimp for going axe/axe? This really wasn't ever about flaming you personally either, in fact Khajit, you didn't even get a mention in the OP. I was having a cry over the fact that since the update invites went from 2-3 parties a day to being turned down because GA is kick ass now (at least until SE 'fix' it), and what turned out to be your tell, was the breaking point in my frustration.

OK first thing.I decline to invite you on my brd because you didnt have gaxe leveled and then out of nowhere I see a flame because you arent getitngan invite without having gaxe leveled. I connected the dots.

I don't get what your saying in the 1st paragraph about being there solely as a voke bot...... You wouldn't of had to use madrigal to allow me to be a 'decent' DD, I had no probs connecting with G.Colibri @ 70-72, why would I suddenly be below-par now? Do you really think that since the update war is suddenly a second rate DD class unless they use a GA?
You are missing the point you idiot. Can you eat meat at mamol ja and manage a 90% hit rate with your axes? guess what. almost any idiot with a gaex that is a war can. I idnt say that war dual weilding axes was a subpar DD class now I said its WEAKER. A person on the same job, same lv, exact same gear and pt setup WILL do more damage using GAXE than one who is dual wilding instead. That is a fact atm until thepatch and even then it may still be true. Why should anyone have to choose you when they know somone else using the "proper" weapon will outperform you?
Anyway, like I said, I'm new to 75WAR, and gave up GA early for two reason, until 2 weeks ago everyone wanted axe/axe wars, and I don't like the delay. Yes, I skillup GA while I seek (@136 now ), and no, I don't really intend to use GA in an xp situation until I have capped it with a few merits, and have a sam sub to back it up. At the end of the day I'm happy being an wood/man war. If that makes me mediocre so be it.

AAANNNNDDD..... To everyone that pointed it out, yes, I have a great axe in my siggy. I think they look awesome! I just wish the delay wasn't so damn long on them. Siggy is new, and the first one I've made, glad it's been noticed :bb:

That's nice for you but shut your damned bitching about not getting invites. lets see just how much all the drg out there care that your cannon job that could get picked over them no matter how gimp you might be (antdog) and how pimp thier gear might be(and quite well known for it too) doesnt get 3000 invites a second? Hmm they all seem to be too busy meriting which happens to be the exact opposite of the soloing and hanging about in the dragoon corner of lower jueno that they've been busy doing for years.

You just dont have what the people partying want. You will not get sympathy for it. and if you do it will be about as much as a war that dual weilds clubs would have gotten prepatch.

So you have axes levledand it was fine when you exped to 75? that was then. this is now. adapt. If you dont wish to then go find some nin/thf to DD with you in a party with a pld tank and some blm with a whm healer and no refresh on IT+++ monsters.

Gotta agree with Antor, the whole "expecting everyone to have a GAxe setup" instantly is a bit of a joke. Even worse that every WAR out there is suddenly expected to have /37DRG and/or /37SAM at their disposal.

Khaj, I'm surprised you're being so selective in job setups. Isn't your NIN and THF in the exact same boat Axe WARs are? Or did you really jump ship THAT quickly? =/

Dude, I know what it's like to lfg for days. First job to 75 was THF, and while invites are not as slow as DRG and DRK used to be, they still crawl along.

Yes, it was nice to level a job that was actually wanted for a change. It was however, expected that you used axe/axe. I don't have GA capped. I'm not in a hurry cap it either till I see how effective it is after the patch.

You are right, I wouldn't have connected as much eating meat on mamools. I made an assumtion about the party setup, and no axe/axe war wouldn't of worked in your setup, for that I apologise. It doesn't excuse the fact that everyone has been expecting war's to dual axes, and are now saying they are gimp for not having GA capped. I don't do much endgame stuff, and when I do it's on THF, so until the update I had no reason to skillup GA.

Not looking for sypmathy, not looking to be right, not looking for anything other than to vent my splein. Closest I got to naming names in the OP was "Azam", and I did this for the very reason that I didn't want to personally flame anyone, just rant and rave and let off some steam.

I'm like the fact that they changed 2handed weapons, and now more DRK and DRG's can cannon. I hate that some people have adopted the idea that you to have GA capped over night since the change or your gimped. That is my bitch. GA ONLY or your gimp. PUHLEEZ.

If there is, after the patch, still a marginal difference between dual axes and GA in DoT then yes, I will be leveling GA like a mad man. Until then my WAR is not jumping the band wagon, and will continue to hang with the PUPs and NIN/THF DDs in the corner of Jeuno where the DRG's used to hang.

Not really an expert on the whole dual wield axes vs the GA situation since the update. I only dinged 75 WAR yesterday, and I have prefered to play with axes. It's might be a little stupid, but I get bored with the delay between swings using a GA. So I dual wield to keep myself amused. (It's why I prefer my THF it's like "Pow pow pow, run around here, then pow pow pow all over again.)

Anyway....

Since the update I keep running across people who invite you to join party, only to then kick/change their mind/"forget" they sent you a tell because I don't use a GA. Lol about 10 minutes ago I get an tell from a party leader asking if I used GA or dual wield. I say I prefer to dual wield, only get "Oh nvm"

Amazhoweveritends, and everyone else out there adopting the GA ONLY WAR can KISS MY ASS. Yes it may do a little more damage, but I already pull enough hate in a party, I don't want to pull even more. I like to stay alive, and not be bored stupid. And you know, it's not like axe/axe wars are suddenly gimped in the amount of damage they do.........

/sigh...this stupid game has changed far too much since I left. I wanna go back but, I'd be so damned behind >< It was the complete opposite when I left, GA was looked down on compared to dual wield.

Expecting them to instantly have it, is dumb; but they should have had it already.

I leveled my drk sub for a single fight, I leveled my drg sub solely so I could play around as sam/drg with a soboro; I don't see anything wrong with people to put more effort into their job than the bare minimum required to auto-attack and afk. I've been trying to skill up some of my weapons that I doubt I'll ever use, just because at some point I might. It shouldn't take nearly as long to skillup great axe anyways, they should have been using it to level 50 anyways(axe/axe until then sucks hard); so it'd already be halfway leveled.

I may not be the best example since I tend to put more effort into my jobs than most other people; but 95% of warriors have just been riding on the coat tails of rampage since they got it. Now they're being expected to actually use some of that massive versatility that was built into the job from the start and they're whining like little kids; it's hard to feel sorry for them or even care for those who are too gimp to do anything but rampage. These are also the same warriors who are fucking useless in a cannon party because they never provoke.

Oh, thought I'd add that hellstorm is retarded for thinking that axe/axe is going to compare to axe/ridill. If axe/ridill wasn't so obviously better, then ridill wouldn't be nearly as desired as it is. Seriously, learn what the fuck you're talking about or stop posting.

Not to nitpick but ridill WARS only parse marginally better than jug/man with similar gear and merits. It is better of course but it's overrated in the shear amount of increase. It's a goal every WAR/NIN should have but to think it's going to make you parse even 5% over an equally geared and merited person with man/jug is equally retarded.

Juggernaut: 292 skill, 46 dmg, 30 att, 3 str
Ridill offhand: 273 skill, 40 dmg 1-3 attacks per round, cannot DA
Total 436.6667 Delay with Suppanomimi, 5.6 TP per hit
vs
Maneater: 292 skill, 49 dmg, 19 att, 5 acc
Juggernaut: 292 skill, 46 dmg, 30 att, 3 str
Total 470 Delay with Suppanomimi, 6.0 TP per hit
Total 490.4348 without Suppanomimi, 6.4 TP per hit

On paper those seem to be pretty close in effectiveness, due to the 17 attack and obvious skill differences. Perhaps the Ridill user could use fortitude torque to make up a bit of the sword skill, but then the dual axe could use the temperance torque to do the same. It's going to be better with the Ridill 90% of the time, but on higher level mobs than merit mobs, I could see the Axe/Axe doing better overall just based on skill caps. So yes, in a merit the Ridill will almost always out parse the axe/axe. There is a reason that SE has since been so careful about who they give what with multihit weapons. For example why WAR didn't get temperance axe.

The problem with this right now is that 2h weapons currently need 0 gear to hit the damage cap, so there's no diff between 5/5 hachiman SAM and fully pimped out Abj/God SAM as far as weapon skills are concerned. So keeping this in mind, it's a fair assumption that if someone doesn't have a 2h leveled, they have a greater chance of being a hurt on your party than a gimp with 2h leveled.

Tauro did you account for the +5 sword skill on Suppanomimi?

Anyway, I think the whole GA OR NO INVITE thing is quite stupid. So far almost all of my merit parties since the patch have been pretty much half and half DW and 2h.

Now yes, while the disparity is blatantly obvious to anyone who's done a party with both since then, that doesn't mean the DW will ruin the party's effectiveness.

I've had two successful (aka 15+k/hr) parties at the Mamool Ja SP North camp now, one of them I was the only two hander, the other there was only one dual wielder. The fast exp parties still work with dual wielders (that one in particular was nin thf mnk drg brd whm). They're only SLIGHTLY weakened by their PDIF nerf, but that style still works FINE.

first it was the o.hat, then it was "stack up as much evasion as possible" on nin, then the accuracy craze, then the haste craze. this update has done what i expected: brought about the next bandwagon. one can only speculate what the next expantion will give us and what flames will emerge on here as a result. players are like polotitions(sp), they find whats popular and jump on it, only to fip like a coin once something more popular comes along.

hey, axe/ridil warriors. isnt it amazing how quickly everyone turns against you?

didn't I just say this lol, but yeah wars are originally the most versital jobs in the game. Where wars once only had to chop chop chop. Now wars are expected to be a heave DD in more than one weapon and they are expected to do HIGH WS dmg and possibly even tank like the original plan. Adapt

On a side note:
the 4 lv 75 parties I've done since the patch were mostly all about testing out the changes.
I discovered a few things:
A) my thf is only marginally better than a retarded samurai gimp at mamool ja
B) a SAM that has gear that does make sense(6 hit setup no merits yet) most definetly does more damage than my thf at mamool ja on a no-lurker, skoffin , puk monster pool(?) although that part is a bit skewed and i'd have to test later on account of idiot sam A not grabbing hate(like an idiot) which resutled in sam B dying repeatedly since hate wasnt bouncing around for a mini seigan burn(as planned).

c) it's within 1% of the damage done by a sam/nin in "ok" gear vs colibri. sam/nin may become the main sj for sam for the same reasons mnk sub nin.
I accidentally discovered a somewhat tangible value for how huge haste is since I was getting creamed until i realized i had no haste and my place in the parse jumped significantly once I forced the rdm to add me into the haste cycle.

D:) my nin is within 2-3% of a drg and drk. The two didnt have homam and I think the drg didnt have sea. everyone was fuly merited I beleive. There's not much i can say about that considering my nin is practically finished outside of str merits while they can get up to 9% haste added in( althgouh they realy dont need the acc on it do they're losing out on a bit of atk at least so somewhat/not-really balance that out.) Dont mention brutal , rajas ect because the drg could get that too upon gaining sea acess.

The last pt in which the OP wasnt invited was to see just how strong 2-H cannon really was. I was aiming to see if the reports that one could kill wivre fast enough to add them into a chain which would boost the maximum exp per hour availiable in the colibri camp once I determined nyzul mamool didnt have enough mobs from a previous experience.
It was also a training session to get my brd back into the habit of pulling fast enough for exp parties and maintaining songs.
I've determined that chaining the dinosaurs might be viable but only if they are properly setup so it's more of an above a what should be standard party thing to be able to kill them efficiently. One of the war's either lied in his /seacom about having gaxe leveled or didnt realize how big an acc boost he got from the update( he tried to discreetly request 2x madrigal in /tell) It didnt occur to me later that it might have meant that the war didnt have it properly skilled up as opposed to not having he brains to realize he couldnt miss even if he was naked with gaxe. The 4 DD didint really eat food much from what I saw althoguh i saw seise kebabi and some idiot ate sushi once. If there hadnt been a language barrier and I hadnt forgotten to order them to get some mithkbobs as minimum I would have kicked 3/6 of the party and started over with a test using less variables. In essense they made the test inconclusive but it looks good for chaining the things when all colibri are dead or another pt moves in and disrupts chains.

this thread brought a smile to my face.

oh and most of my PTs since the update have actually been worse as all these horribly gimp 2h who have never cannoned before keep inviting me. They are sooo slow on targeting new mobs and do damage which prepatch well equipped wars could easily match. I guess I should just be happy my damage has increased and /war is almost usable again in good PTs thanks to really short fights.

on the note of capping multiple skills I have capped the 3 highest skills on drg polearm(299) staff(240) and sword(220) but am still looking for a reason to use sword as a taru drg (loltaruspiritswithin) maybe that'll come in a future update.

I used to love being war/ sam before update. I guess now it would actually make more sense than it did before.

Here' a fun thing to do...Lamia Idolator, I did 4788 Steel Cyclone 300% no cor, no brd...hahahaha

simply put not having your A+ weapon skilled up is unacceptable.

but personally, i'd prefer to never require anyone to play any sort of way, unless the PT setup specifically demanded it for skill chains, etc. otherwise, if the only draw back to letting someone use their weapon of choice is somewhat lower damage then i'd have no qualms about it. this game is about having fun, atleast for me it is.

but on the other hand. just because i play the game for fun and other's may not always, doesn't make their way wrong. some play to be the best, its competition and if you're not meshing with the want to do things, you can't really blame them, after all you want to play your way aswell don't you?
