Galka Jobs

I think the fact that you actually go through the process of avoiding inviting a character based on their race is kinda pathetic, but that's just my humble opinion.

I have to agree with your "humble opinion". Actually, when making pts I never even notice the race of the people I invite. >.> I'm not really that observant lol. Not that I'd let that stop me because there is nothing cuter than a pld tarutaru.

lol Kerowynn thanks for pointing out that fact! on the subject of hume/mithras. They are balanced so they can be good at any job, and you definitely dont pick a taru to be PLD lol. I would never invite that.

Baring the player having shitty gear or horribly sucking at their job, which is independent of race, a taru PLD is not a bad option. Yeah, less hp and vit, but substantially more MP, which means they can cast more spells and won't need to rest as much; that means higher chains between rests and more exp/hour. Race has almost no meaning unless you look to hp and mp amounts, and until endgame it's not a big deal. Not inviting someone because of the race they chose is only slightly beaten by the stupidity of their name(like XxXSephirothXxX) in the list of dumb reasons why not to party people.

Pfft any race can play any job decently if they're halfway intelligent about their job. I've seen awesome taru plds, nins, mnks, etc. I'll take a taru pld that knows how to play their job and can afford decent/good gear over another race pld that plays like crap or has shitty gear any day.

And yes humes are well balanced but given equal gear, level, and merits humes aren't BEST at any job.

Also, wtf kind of xp party are you making that you have the ability to pick and choose so much with the race of all of your members? I've made many xp parties and I can't recall a day where I had the option of a galka pld, taru mage, elvaan DD, mithra thf....etc. I'm not sure where you get your parties with perfect race/job matching anyway. Meh, there's no room in that kind of party for a hume like me anyway.

So now we have...

But not great at anything, meaning some other race can "do it better". Say no to Hume!

My husband Osse started out the game as an Elvaan BLM back in Jan 2004. He put a whole lot of effort into his gear, and got into many parties where the other party members were amazed at how well he could rain destruction. He also got spurned from countless more parties simply due to the fact that he was elvaan. Thankfully as the months went on that diminished, people became better educated to the fact that the differences in stats between races was often so small it was nearly negligible.

On rare occasions Osse would be in a dual-blm party, and 90% of the time when that happened he was the better blm. Many of the people who rolled taru blm seemed content to merely float by on their race's inherent strengths, and when pitted against a pimped-to-the-max elvaan these mediocre equipped tarus always fell short.

I also staticed with a Galka WHM throughout the 55-60ish range. At the time this was a rarity, I think he may have been the only NA Galka whm over 37 at that time. Like Osse, he had been spurned from countless parties simply because he was a galka. But he was passionate about the job, and eventually became one of the most decked-out whm's I know. He's the only whm I've ever partied with that can break 1200 on both HP and MP.

Your characters race is nearly negligible in determining how good you are at any job. It will always be player skill and gear that makes you good, race can easily be worked around if you're willing to make the effort. So go with whatever race you think looks best, because that's really the only difference that can't be altered with gear. :)

Galkas make good pld, but not that great until end game where max HP becomes important vs big stuff. Before then their MP pool is a hinderance.

They make pretty good bards, a few CHR isn't that major compared to the large MP pool granted by RSE (galka brd/whm will have more MP than taru brd/whm after 30 if they use RSE) and the extra HP and VIT are nice when they are pulling.

What about Hume then? Everything Hume can do, some other race can do it better...?

Actually, Hume/Mithra (bacically the same stats except CHR and DEX are probably the best choices for RDM which relies on all around stats, rather than 1-2 particular stats.

I've always thought someone would be crazy to be galka mage, but the very best WHM I have ever played with was a galka.

Top of the line gear, never ran out of MP, used food and was very very good at healing and buffing and whatever WHM does. Everything wrong about a race (Elvaan crap dex, Mithra crap chr) can be made up in gear, just might cost a lot.

I always thought a Burst Build Garka would be a decent endgame Blm. You generally have to moderate your Nukes and wait for SC, so if you wear the right gear and focus on damage rather than duration, you could do great, and possess the survivability to do it.

Take Crosis for example, one of the best Blms I know. He's lolEvlaan, but dishes out some of the top numbers I ever seen. Whe he pulls hate, he takes a slap to the face and lives on; while all those Tarus get Half Hitted and die... Fafnir just has to think of hitting a taru to kill one... Not to mention AoE damage that rapes in close quarters.

Whm I would be more heasatant, that is really an MP intensive job.

Rdm can be pulled off quite well, there have been quite a number of EXP Rdms that were Galka that did an exceptional job, well into their 70's, I don't know how they'd fare against HNM's and such (Due to a slightly lower mind) but I am sure all the RDM gear can more than Compensate.

<3 Garkas.

dam have you ever partied with a taru pld they are the sh*t with all that mp they have they can keep a chain going alot longer then the other races if the mange the MP right.

I know each race has a few jobs that they are above other jobs in but humes we are in the middle on every job out there. So if you are going to make a party of people based on race I would think hume would be the hardest to get invites on unless they are playing maybe RDM.

Most of the time, max mp is excessive. If a Galka swaps in all the HMP gear a mage can equip, s/he's as capable a mage as any other. I'm a Tarutaru blm, and very rarely am I sitting at full mp in a party. I also never blow my entire mp pool in a single battle. After the newb levels, once your max mp becomes greater than the amount needed to complete a chain, all races are pretty much equal at magery.

Galka make some of the *best* mages. Not due to stats, but due to learning how to properly manage MP, and use their spells at the correct times. Also, we're not wet paper bags early on like most other race's mages.

And for the record, overall I think that Galka exceed the other races in WAR, PLD, BST, NIN, MNK, and DRK (Maybe even WHM). Galka has above average STR and no detriment to DEX, which allows for the most effective DD in the game. Elvaan sacrifice native acc and crit rate for their high STR.

RDM and BLM are hard to play as a Galka simply due to our worst stat being INT. INT is one of the few stats that is highly important when calculating resist and damage rates. For the most part other stats can be jacked up so much by gear, that you'll cap out, but INT is hard to do so with, at least as far as I know.

Also, for what it's worth, I was just in the dunes as a BLM15 in a pt with a Mithra DRK15. She had about 20 LESS HP than me, in addition to much less MP. It just made me giggle about how the racial divide in HP...

QFT

When I'm leveling a party job, I'll take a smart Galka over a cure-bombing Taru any day of the week.

I remember once in a Citadel party where a guy kept on our Galka Whm's case to stop wasting mp on Paralyze, and he replied:

"See that paralyze message? That probably just saved me around 24 mp."

That's the logic I like to see from a healer ^^

Yeah... same applies to elvaan. Most of the time Tarus seem to have a cocky "I have unlimited MP, fear me!" and use all of their MP in a single fight, while others use their MP smart.

I <3 being elvaan. Gives me a challange and forces me to learn how to manage my MP in order to not run out ^^; So much more fun then being a "cookie cutter". People don't like easy mode in single player games for a reason...
