Ok, I've been thinking, what about those men who go on about 'titties' all day? That's accepted how come you feel gay people don't have the right to say they are gay? straight people do it more than enough...

Any sexuality flaunting is annoying, be it straight or homo. Irritates the shit out of my, personally. Except in Iso's case. Ogre bewbz = win

Living near San Francisco you grow accustomed to seeing these pride parades or even the pride parades that happen everyday in the Castro District. I honestly have no problem with gay people at all since I have a couple friends that are. The way I see it, if gay people want their parade let them have it and let them be gay just means there are more T&A for me from real women (transgenders don't count).

There is no equality anymore.

Anymore?

When I was four (in 1989), I had a girl tell me her dog didn't like me because "she doesn't like black people." So I ran home and cried to my mom because I got kicked out of her house.

My therapist once asked me if he thought nobody liked me because I "was black" in 1999. No, it was because I had just switched from a private middle school into a public High School and I didn't know anyone.

I've almost been fired (in 2008) because I told my boss I was half black. The only reason I didn't is because she made me switch departments. She fired me, but I was still a part of the company.

At last count, I think I have one gay friend. He's awesome, because he creeps all our friends out by acting flamboyant around them.
One time, we were out playing pool and he put his crotch in front of the corner pocket I was aiming for. He told me to just aim for them, so I promptly hit the ball, which bounced and hit him in the balls.
Good times.

there are SEVERAL pwnage points:

The rainbow fuck you....

The cat who will fuck you in the but

Anything Hal said

The Collage of Flags

Everyone else who disagrees with you...

Even Avenue Q...

This thread really disgusts me.. I happen to be gay myself and I come here on qcdn to look at the posts relax while at work, and I have never been so unrelaxed with reading this thread. Urat.. you are a horrible person.

You were the only cute Elvaan I ever met. I should've seen the signs. >P

My only real "problem" with the celebration (which I actually have with all celebrations based around freedom and increased rights) - the thing in general is wonderful but there's some people who seem to want to rip off proverbial scab rather than let it heal. Always seems to be a few extremists who think that the world still owes them and/or that they're better than everyone.

That is to say, it seems celebrating it is a constant reminder of how bad things were in the past. Things have gotten better hopefully will continue to, but I always personally thought that bringing up past events was never the best way to do things since it tends to bring up all the drama with it. It's kindof hard to explain...for lack of better example (and I'm sorry for doing this), it's pretty much like the death of Jesus - some people celebrate it but there's always the people out there that will always be "ZOMG U KILED MY JESUS", which typically causes all advancement thus far to somewhat unravel.

Sorry if this isn't coming out right =\ Just sorta seems that whenever things of the past are celebrated, some people "do it wrong" by empowering themselves over all the negative aspects rather than the positive ones. As so long as those people exist, it seems like the final rift between equality will always be there. It doesn't help that some people simply don't know, but it ESPECIALLY doesn't help that the media is so hazy or even misleading with much of it's information in regards to things.

That's horrible. May I ask what city/state this was?

I don't see why people are still mad for the death of Jesus.
He pretty much said "Hey guys? I'm totally gonna die. Daddy told me."

Then I guess we should stop celebrating the 4th of July too? Just because things are 'somewhat better' doesn't mean we shouldn't remember what happened to get us to the point we're at now. There are still tons of problems. Million Man March, people still go on that because honestly people are still racist fucks and things aren't equal. People are still bigots and hate-mongers that beat the shit out of older and younger members of the GLBT community. Celebrations, demonstrations, candle-light vigils and any other peaceful assembly is not only one of our core rights as Americans, its something we need to do to promote tollerance and acceptance, no matter what you're marching for.

Fixed ;). I agree with pretty much everything you an Hal have posted in this thread though.

Can I choose to be black? That would be pretty sweet. I wouldn't get burned in the sun all the time then.

Anyway, one of my mothers friends is gay, his twin isn't. Does that make them fraternal even though they look exactly the same? *twilight zone music*

That's what you mean right?

If you'd read my post, you'd have seen that my one and only problem with such celebrations is the people who empower themselves over the negative aspects rather than the positive ones, which is effectively back-peddling the whole thing since they wind up demanding "more rights than others" for equality.

I sure as hell wouldn't want such celebrations rid of, I'm merely saying that some people who reflect wrongly on the history of such events damage the purpose of the celebration and often times risk making things worse.

These parades aren't made for the assholes and 'extremists' that demands more rights because they're better or want to be treated better. These demonstrations are made in memory, as mentioned before, of horrific acts, blatant unfairness and inequality. These demonstrations took, and still take, place because the people involved in them were treated as a being of lesser importance. Are people going to be angry? Still? Depending on what they've personally been witness to in their lifetime and how they deal with such things? Yes, of course.

The assholes that take things to the extreme are what the media put the focus on because 'mainstream acceptance' doesn't want to embrace the "agenda" of the community that the demonstration is the focus of (hispanic pride, racial rights, sexism, pink is the new black, whatever). You, sitting in front of your TV, are not really being exposed to whats out there in the parade, what the message is. You're just getting a look at what mass media wants everyone to believe "These fuckers are out to steal our husbands and turn our children gay!" No. Not really. I'm not saying thats what you think, but I'm saying thats what people are made to believe because of the media bullshit putting these morons like Chris Crocker or a Rosie O'Donnell that hasn't slept for 3 days and decides to make a video blog or some angry SUPER leftist liberal twink on the fucking television and thats immediately how the idiotic masses believe everyone is.

There's a "scab" because we had to heal in the first place. If people weren't so fucking stupid as to immediately want to kill, bomb or dissect anything thats different from their own personal definition of normal, we wouldn't be having this conversation in the first place. You can't have demonstrations and memorials without remembering the past. The future is based on our learning from mistakes that we have already made.

And to that bolded shit above, just because you dont understand me, doesn't mean I didn't read it. Get over yourself.
