Gay Pride Week.... wtf!?

If it annoys you so much, look the other way.
Does it bother you when you see women who appear, for the lack of a better word, butch, wear mens clothes and walk and act like a man?
If you say no, then how is that any different from a gay guy that acts like a woman with a lisp?

Let them have their moment with their parade, considering the shit they've gone through and still go through, I think they deserve it. If people got a problem with it, they don't have to go. They don't have to see the stuff that goes on in there.
It's simple as that.

If they want to flaunt it, let them. People like you would be judging them.
Although I do not see any difference in the flaunting with like a teenage girl wearing some skanky ass clothes walking around every day showing their junk.

Carry on.

Meh, it should make you feel good that he got the shit owned out of him all over the place in this thread.

I was about to post, but everything that needs to be said, has been.

OP. Enjoy cutting yourself off at the knees.

<3 to my gay people. Plutonically(sp?) of course.

You mean "platonically."

This thread really disgusts me.. I happen to be gay myself and I come here on qcdn to look at the posts relax while at work, and I have never been so unrelaxed with reading this thread. Urat.. you are a horrible person.

I 2nd that.....

He's Canadian. Their friendly nuances come with radiation.

But a whole damn week is just overdone.

Perhaps you've never heard of African American History or Hispanic Heritage Month? Who are you to say what length of time is appropriate to celebrate who people are or how far their struggle has come? Maybe you have never experienced racism or sexism in your life, but there are plenty of people who have who know what a soul-sucking, self-image killing, emotionally damaging thing it is. You're inconvenienced by traffic because there's a parade? You're pissy because you don't really care about their issues? Too fucking bad. For all the adversity they are met with simply because they exist, to express publicly some kind of pride in who they are for one week is not too much to ask.

This whole American society was built on "hey look at what we awesome white men can accomplish, arent we totally amazing?" If you don't fit into that club, you have been struggling to one degree or another over a decent chunk of time. Women, minorities... Pick up a history book and actually read it sometime. Then shut the hell up about how you can't stand one goddamned week.

Urat said:
and the homosexuals affecting me? If you mean do they bug me? Yeah, having some random guy proclaim all proudly that he's gay, and wearing it like some badge of honor bugs me. A gay guy gets fired and he blames it on discrimination? that bugs me.

It must be interesting to be so threatened by someone else's self-acceptance and confidence that you feel "bugged," by them. God forbid that someone feel proud about who they are and comfortable enough in their own skin to be able to be open and truthful about it. And here's a newsflash for you: not every discrimination case is bullshit. You can choose to live in your ivory tower and tell yourself that discrimination doesn't happen, and that somehow it's a collective dream, but it does happen. It's ugly and it's brutal and until you've experienced it or seen it happen to someone, you have zero room to open your mouth about how much it bugs you that someone claims it has happened to them.

Yours is the most ignorant post I've seen in a long time here. And that's saying something. Hope you wake up a little. There are some more important negative things in the world that could be bothering you than, say, a week devoted to someone feeling positive about themselves. Get a grip.

again, no proof except the lack of proof

The lack of proof is not proof :P that's a logic fallacy, just wanna point that out. Hehe But you seem more on "it could be, but so far we don't know" which is fine.

When a girl or guy walks to me and in the middle of a conversation proudly proclaims the fact that their sexual orientation is the opposite of my own, all I can say is, "So?"

I completely forgot to ask about this one. When does this actually happen? I've been trying to work out the scenario in my head, but it's eluding me.

The best I can come up with is:

A) You're having a conversation and some guy runs over out of nowhere and says "I'm gay!" for no reason. I think I'd be more confused than anything else.

or possibly

B) You're having a conversation and ask some guy if he's married or has a girlfriend or you make a comment about how hot some Maxim model is or how you can't wait until Miley Cyrus is legal or six hundred other things guys talk about when family or sex comes up, and he corrects you by pointing out he's gay. Depending on comfort level, he may say you can have the Maxim model if he gets to keep Matt Damon.

I've never had Conversation A, but I'm very familiar with Conversation B. The assumption is Straight until proven otherwise, and I'm not afraid to correct someone's assumption... or lay the groundwork for an encounter if they by some slim chance actually know Matt Damon and want to hook me up.

My favorites are the people who get angry about gay people "flaunting their sexuality," as though straight people don't do that ad nauseum. [sarcasm] When I walk through the mall and see couples holding hands or pushing strollers full of squawling babies, I want to shake my finger and say "Keep it in the bedroom where it belongs!" The worst is when they put pictures of their spouses or their on their desks at work. Please! I don't need to be reminded of what you do in bed! [/sarcasm]

Come on all you gay boys, wave those flags high!

I at work and can't find any good ones. >_<

Being black is a choice IMO.

Can I choose to be black? That would be pretty sweet. I wouldn't get burned in the sun all the time then.

Anyway, one of my mothers friends is gay, his twin isn't. Does that make them fraternal even though they look exactly the same? *twilight zone music*

Fuck off Urat...

I can't believe you said you feel sorry for people who are, as you said 2born Gay". Why whats wrong with that?

You came here looking for an argument, you got one.

There is zero proof anywhere in existence that homosexuality is anything but a choice.
I'm not outright stating it IS a choice(again, no proof except the lack of proof) but stating a gene makes them gay is very awkward. Why would nature be self-defeatist? Life = Procreation. Therefor...

I'm busy at work, but would some people be kind enough to shoot this one down some more?

This is the most ignorant and ridiculous posts I've seen. I for one am not a lesbian, but I happen to have a brother that is gay. I also happen to live in Lakeview, Chicago (the biggest gay community in the midwest). Why am I so offended by this post? Mostly because you have no idea what you're talking about. You base your conclusions on your 2 butch friends, but them kissing in front of you makes me think that if you said this in front of them, they'd have the same reaction.

It's not pride week, its Pride Month. Here in Chicago the Pride Parade is held on the last Sunday of of every June. I'm guessing you have no idea why, but its to remember the Stonewall incident of 1969, when the gay community looked for a way to be EQUAL (not above) under the law like everyone else. How did it end? With people being beat and arrested. I would understand your point of view if straight people were banned from seeing this parade, but in actuality I know many many straight couples that go to these types of events. If you don't like it, stay your ass home, don't even criticize it by saying straight people should have a parade. What would you put on those floats? "Hey we can get married, fuck you" when it should be "hey we can get married, but really 50% of the time I take advantage of the fact that I can get married and break it off with my spouse". That is not what happens at the parade. You're partly right about saying how its an attention getting event, but its just that; they are people that deserve every ounce of right you have.

You should really change your disclaimer to: Hey I love gay people... except for flamers they're an abomination.

Ok, I've been thinking, what about those men who go on about 'titties' all day? That's accepted how come you feel gay people don't have the right to say they are gay? straight people do it more than enough...
