Gears of War 2

hopefully the GoW2 community wont be nearly as bad as the normal gears

Osy. Me, you, eleib, and Jer need to do that swarm game mode or whatever its called. That will be totally badass. I totally can't wait for it.

No worse then the rest of the gaming community period. Its not GeoW community or Lives community that shit... People need to just face it... Its a large percentage of the gaming community in general that are ass hats.

From a community stand point games like Gears and Halo draw out the uber turds because of their popularity. Some games have a much, much better community. We were not talkin' about the gamin' community as a whole, just the community that will gather for Gears. Since Gears 2 will, obviously, be a very popular title, it'll pull more jerk-offs from the whole community. However, you can't just talk about the community as the whole. That's like sayin' most of the people in the world are idiots therefore most people who enjoy readin' comics are idiots. Gotta bring it down to the micro standards.

Not that I had a problem with the Gears community in the first place. Personally, I only play games with friends. Everyone else is easily ignored or muted. Lately, and after the next update, I'll almost exclusively use private chat durin' games. When I play BF:BC now I only use private chat because I only play with one other person. We play together as a team and the rest of our team can go fuck themselves.

I do the same exact thing for pretty much any game, after all the years of playing halo 2 and hearing screaming little kids its a nice change to just be able to talk to one person the entire time and not have to listen to screaming kids.

You see Strid... I do believe a large percentage of the gaming community are idiots. Not because you believe a large percentage of popular game communities are idiots. Your example means nothing to me and makes no sense at all. Still love ya tho.

More people playing gears does not equal higher percentage of idiots playing gears. The issue is probably you only pay attention to the idiots... Which is highly possible, the bad guys stay fresh in our mind. And the good guys play and pass you by unoticed, as they should.
 
I just think the "asshole community" might have different playing habits, which I think his point was.

I've noticed that when a game gets older and the community shrinks, the actual quality becomes pretty damn great. The same mentality that might make a gamer very unpleasant might also drive people to constantly purchase the newest, popular games and not grow a long term loyalty to one in particular.

Not a cut and dry sort of thing. I myself buy a lot of the newest games, and often find myself playing inferior games because they feel more fresh to me. Also the VERY BIGGEST assholes tend to show themselves later to a game's life cycle, when they're clearly bored of playing the game legitimately but don't want to leave.

Also like I said, different game types... like tactical shooters = great communities, damn near every time. They're for more cerebral gamers. For an extreme example go play an online chess game. People are VERY polite.

I never said they wasn't idiots. In general, I think most of humanity consist of idiots, whether they are gamers, lawyers, construction workers, etc. You missed the point.

More people playin' a popular game ABSOLUTELY means more idiots will be there. There is no way around it, that's just how it works. It's simple, like you said earlier, most gamers are idiots. A popular game has more people than a non-popular game. Therefore, the popular game has more idiots. Ratio wise, just depends on the game.

Fire again i think we tend to just remember the assholes more. The game type doesnt mean anything... I was flooded with assholes in Uno online man. I can not play it anymore.

Take it further... I am an asshole. I am the asshole you mentioned Fire. When i am bored of a game i make it extreemly uncomfortable for the people i am playing against... Like me in CoD4, Strid can even back that up i think lol.
 
i just alter my voice to sound like those stereotypical assholes you love to hate in games, and its always hilarious to those who know its really me doing it. I know what its like to have some pre-pubescent kid kick your ass and talk mad shit, So i alter my voice to sound like that kid, and it pisses people off, or makes em laugh!
 
Being a female gamer you always have the asshole in the community doesn't matter what the game is. Why I don't play games that have a party mode without people I know. It gets old and annoying hearing how they are awesome or "hey what's your Myspace or IM name?"

I have the game reserved, but assured I won't be playing it unless there is enough room in the party for me to play. I can absolutely love a game, but if I can't play it with friends and just random people won't even bother playing it.

Ok... MY side is... A large percentage of humans are idiots... A large percentage of gamers are idiots... And what type of game you are playing has nothing to do with how many idiots you will run into... Unless the game is called "Enter Idiots"
 
There ya go. It's always gonna be a subject people have their own opinion of.

As far as LBP goes, I think it'll be popular among the non-popular console. Can you really consider that popular? A popular game on the 360 is leaps and bounds different than a popular game on the PS3. Nationally speakin', MGO is popular, among the PS3 crowd, which is few, but it really doesn't put up numbers like Gears, CoD4, and Halo does.

Gears 2 will have idiots and it'll have awesome people playin', just like the first. What I was tryin' to get at with Cerb is this time around the same people are goin' to play and then some. To expect the community to be any less idiotic or any less awesome is just not smart.
 
Gears 2 has already been beaten, I watched it all on youtube
