Gears of war PC content for 360 unlikley

Yes, but Gears 2 isn't due out for atleast another year. UT3 is pretty much done, aside from some polishing.

Then what? Pretty sure thats it for their projects, so unless Epic releases content often for Unreal Tournament(Which aside from maps, has never happened before,) theres nothing else going on.

Just telling you what they've said on the matter when interviewed about making the content for 360. Apparently it's not as easy an undertaking to convert PC missions to the 360, far more than you're estimating. I'll also wager a guess that it'd be a 5 gig download if they did it, which would certainly turn away a lot of premium Xbox owners.

They said they don't have the manpower to do it. They also said they still are going to be working on the PS3 version of UT3 optimizing it until November. They still have the actual PC version of Gears of War, who knows if that's finished? Then they have the 360 version of UT3 which I don't think is anywhere near done if they aren't even solid on if there will be mods or not. Then Gears of War 2 for 360 I'm sure they want out Christmas 08.

Now they have a little under 150 on their staff. Alternatively, Guerilla Games has around the same, maybe a few more people. They're doing 1 game, 1 version, Killzone 2 for PS3. They have been working on it since Epic started Gears of War 1 and they are in pre-alpha now with a guestimate of first quart of 08 to release.

So really, when you put all that in perspective what they're claiming makes sense.

No, I understand what you're saying. You're saying if they released it anyway but as a 360 Exclusive that it would have sold less copies. You're also saying that it didn't help to massively increase the 360 install base, grow the 360 community and provide a great gameplay experience that 360 owners should be happy to have.

Apparently the hardware itself sells the 360. An amazing 67% nonfailure rate, a cutting edge DVD drive and a standard wired ethernet adapter is good enough, who needs the games?

Nope, you don't understand what I'm saying. That's not what I said at all. Take what I say word-for-word not what you -think- I mean or would like to think I mean. I'm blunt, I mean exactly what I say.

Either way, maybe my thinkin' is flawed. Here is how I think on a situation like this. If I made a game and was successful with even half the sales Gears got, I'd be grateful to the people who made that possible. Sure my team made the game but we didn't make it the success. I would try to put out every aspect of my game on as many platforms as possible but I'd never hold anything back from the people who got me there. Like I said, maybe it's wrong. Maybe my principles are to high on giving back to what gives to you but either way, that's how it'd be.

From that perspective, making Gears of War for the 360 as a timed exclusive was wrong since their fan base has always been PC. It's not like Gears was their first successful game, only their first big console game. Consider how you'd feel as a PC gamer who bought every Epic game, if you get your panties in a twist over some exclusive content, and think how you'd feel then.

Personally, I think it's all business. It's not like if Konami ported MGS4 I'd throw a hissy fit and not buy the PS3 version.

Most importantly, if there was no PC version, and no extra missions, you'd be perfectly happy with them. If they delayed all versions of UT3 til Xbox 360 was done, or just canceled the game, you'd be happy with them. It's not even about gaming to you, it's just jealousy. You sound like some spoiled kid who grew up without any siblings. Honestly just look back at this thread and read over what you've been saying.

Is that what gaming is all about, being so fucking wrapped up in jealousy of rival consoles you get pissed off when they get something good? How many exclusives has PS3 lost? Did I go bananas when Virtua Fighter 5 came to 360? No. Was I pissed off they got online? No. It doesn't make my version worse. I didn't go around bashing Sega, I fucking love their game.

If it's actually deeply important to you that nobody is allowed anything better than what you get on your 360, you need to re-examine why you're even into playing video games. Cause for a lot of people, I don't even know.
