This is a pretty old concept over there already.
Popular anime has been performed live on stage over there for several years already.

It's not that interesting really, just a cosplay show set up with professional stage actors.

Not particularly interested with opera adaptations of manga. As for getting my funds together, I'm getting there, but I also need to get my foot in the door so to speak, I don't think I know anyone who currently lives in Japan.

What Shirai said. A year or so ago I remember watching a full length live action Bleach musical. It was actually kinda cool I thought. I'm not even that into Bleach, but I thought the actors represented and looked like their respective rolls very well.

Holy shit. That -was- awesome. I had no idea that level of hologram realism existed.

Good god man. My reaction was the same as Ecks.

I demand maps, schematics and technical readouts of battle stations to all be done in holograms now. >:O

Okay... I watched a few other vids. It's not quite as amazing as I thought. There's actually a thin mesh screen these 3D images are being projected onto. They're only 3D if you're behind or in front of the screen. On the sides ..it's just a flat screen.

Not nearly as OMGWTFBBQ as I thought it was, but when not showing the screen by having close ups it looks like something out of Star Trek. Shame it's not really.

I'm quite surprised the whole Miku concert is in the news only recently. The concert was back in March and I could have sworn I heard about it soon after it happened. Strange how the worldwide media have only decide to tell the masses now. And yeah, it's not a "hologram" per se like most media outlets are telling us but rather like Ecks just mentioned which is High Quality 3D projections. Apparently there isn't the right technology around to make holograms of that standard right now but i'm sure there will be in time. Still looks very good though, i'd buy a ticket to the gig if I could hehe^^

I know its not a real hologram, but it still looks awesome. And if I remember right its not a screen, its water vapor they use as the screen or something like that.

I watched several videos from the same concert. It was definitely a screen. It had a top and a bottom that were clearly visible at certain angles. You could clearly see the end/edge of the screen as well and you could clearly see the thinness of it. Mist isn't flat unless it's being passed through a flat object, like some kind of glass or plastic confine.
