Well, from what she's been saying to defend her mercing, she could be getting more money farming than by mercing for keys. So maybe she shoud just go back to farming for money like everyone else instead of helping people with something, no?

Really, I'm sick with all the people like Phraust who act like the people charging for help are spawns of the Devil. They need to make money, same as everyone else, they just do something that directly helps one person. They don't -force- you to hire them if you don't want.

And I didn't know how much help Phraust needed in making a coffer key party, as I was only going off of what he said in his topic (I've never worked with Ayeka or Phraust before).

I don't know Phraust very well. All I know is that he went out of his way to match my schedule, to get my AF coffer key, in a place that most people won't touch, and is asking absolutely nothing for it.

He seems like a nice enough guy

I know neither one of these people. I do not see anything with merc'ing and i see nothing wrong with doing stuff for free. Who cares if Phraust doesnt agree with merc'ing? Does that make him a bad person? I dont believe so. I dont look at merc'ing as a "im doing you a favor" type of act I look at it as a service. And as stated you dont make anymore money doing merc'ing then farming. So if you arent really doing a "good deed" (a deed with no return) and you arent "making efficient gil" it sounds like you are making bad use of your time by merc'ing. If you are ok with not getting as much gil as farming and you are just doing it for somthing different then I dont think you should be complaining about it.

I dont know just my prospective i guess. :/

Ayeka, if you are still making your money by mercing, then wtf do you care if Phraust helps ppl for free? I help ppl for free all the time too. You should flame for being nice to others. I "Hired" a couple ppl for some of my AFs and glady none were you. I think you should just worry about yourself and not so much as to what everyone else besides you out there is doing, especially someone as kind as Phraust is. Anyone who turns down gil offered to them while helping gets a lot of respect in my book. After all.. .this game is half about meeting people, making friends and helping one another out. ^^

Careful... He/She's not Pissed that I am helping for free, but that it apeared that I was counterposting thier Mercing post. I did put a rather pasionate introduction on my post that started this whole thing. But it was unintentional.

ok i think there are a few misconceptions about this topic and why i posted. my fault i think because i didn't post enough information probably.

to start, the reason i posted this was because about 5 minutes after i posted my mercing post on the event forums phraust posted another post about free help and the topic started with

"This post was started, and since upgraded, in retaliation to the fuckwads that charge for everything. We should be more 'Community Minded' and not so damned selfish and greedy.

having read that i thought that was a direct attack to me.

to reiterate, i make a steady 60-80k an hour farming materials. mercing makes me a mere 50-100k and can take up to 4 hrs of work. if you do that math, i'm losing out big time here. the only reason i merc is because i know there are a lot of people who need keys who shout in jeuno, and i was merely offering a service to people who just wanna get it done and out of the way.

dont call me selfish because i dont want to help strangers, i help enough ls mates and friends get keys and stuff each week as it is. if you wanna camp lower jeuno for help shouts be my guest.

once again, i did not make this post because i think phraust is taking money away from me by doing stuff for free. he's actually saving me gil if i dont have any merc requests.

since phraust has stated that his post wasn't directed toward me and that it was a mere coincidence i have decided to drop the topic and hold ho bad feelings toward him atm.

toward mithracat. i dont know what you are talking about. i still have my dainslaif and my astral aespis in my mh. and i plan to use both eventually. the reason i ended up lotting on both items aren't relevant here, but involved me being pissed off at some people. i have no idea why you felt u had to vent here for this topic or the original topic, as this confuses me, neither have anything to do with you. i dont want to begrudge or attack a fellow ls mate so i'll just leave this at that.

lastly, to people who think mercing is wrong, thats your opinion, fine. but when i was lvling, i paid for plenty of help to get stuff here and there because i didn't want to wait a week for my friends to have time to help me out. thats just me, and proably about 10% of the FFXI community, which think people who merc are a godsend. just remember, just cause you think coffer key hunting and stuff like that is "fun" doesn't mean that you're buddy that you hound to come help you thinks its "fun."
