That is the biggest load I've seen in a long time. You have absolutely no idea at ALL what endgame is about. I can't even believe somone would say somthing like that. Endgame isnt about the gear, its about setting goals and achieving it as a group. Along with success comes gear, yes. And obviously people have goals of attaining certain pieces of gear. They would be stupid not too. But to say that endgame is all about "ME ME ME" is so far from the truth, is just plain insane.

I find your Naivete amusing. There's a thing that I like to call reality. It is a place full of sarcastic jackasses where everything sucks. It is a place where the world you think -should- be often does not meet eye to eye with what is. It is a place where those with ideals are laughed at and mocked because no one gives a rat's ass.

Btw, a goal is a self-serving concept. You promise yourself that you will achieve something for yourself. Whether you can achieve it on your own, or need others to do it the fact remains that you are there for yourself and no one else. You can argue and bitch to your heart's content but will not change that fact. People do Endgame for themselves and themselves alone. It -is- about gear. If it wasn't you would see several thousand less people doing it all.

This may be true in some cases but it is usually not. Think of how many times you here someone leaving an LS because they have gained nothing out of it. Or it was just a waste of theyre time. Some people want to set goals and have fun, some are selfish pricks that want to get what they need and get the hell out of there.

Sorry you have such a bitter and skewed view of end game, but you are a fool if you think gear is the only reason people do it. I'll take the feeling of a win over Vrtra for the first time anyday over some stupid piece of gear. Too bad somone with an attitude as poor as yours will likely never feel that sense of accomplishment. Its pretty nice.

Agreed. I joined and stayed in a Sky shell for about 8 months when I already had everything I needed just so I could help my friends get what they needed. Not everyone is greedy, people just notice the negative because they like drama.

When I said this I wasn't pointing at your LS or people in your LS I was pointing at the entire server. I wouldn't expect people to leave after getting gear or not because they got gear in a successful LS. If that happened the LS wouldn't be very successful. But look at how many LS's try to be successful and how few actually are. It's because they invite people in just because they have a job the LS needs even if the person never offers to help for the LS and only looks for theyre own personal gain.

I know you werent, just this whole perception lately of end game has gotten pretty rediculous. People that honestly think its like what they read on the flame boards are so misguided its insane. I'm not saying theyre arent good people. I know theres people that will never ask for anything for themselves and always offer to help others. But, saying everyone is like that is far from the truth.

Sure, there are people who are out there just for themselves and don't want to follow a group first mentality, noone is saying there isnt, but to say that everyone is out for themselves and for gear is completely inaccurate and false.

Honestly, who the hell are you to say what my, and other peoples motivations are? Just because end game might be all about items for YOU doesn't mean it is for the rest of us. I've never even seen your name until you posted in this thread, and neither has anyone else I've spoken with about this. So what makes you qualified to speak on behalf of all endgamers? You honestly think that gear is why I, and so many others across all servers spent hours upon hours bulding up NIN/DRK and a solid strategies for Jorm? You are a bigger fool (and end game noob) than I thought if you say yes to that.

I'm very curious what planet you live on. Sure, life can be hard, but if that really is your perception on life, I think you might want to get some help.

There's maybe 33% or so of endgame that's extremely greedy, but they do manage to ruin it for the rest sometimes. The biggest argument I can make against it though is that it's a giant time-drain and if you aren't willing to look back as an old man and say "well I spent those 3 years of my life with all my free time playing FFXI... but I got a e.body so it's worth it..." then you may regret it.

How many NMs are there that people CC each other for that have basically no good drops? I can think of a bunch. Sure you will probably fight them once or twice maybe, but you aren't pounding every spawn unless it drops items people want or need. That is the simple truth of the matter. Sure you can say that you did this all for strats on this or that. But in the end how many times are you going to fight Jorm if in his loot table he dropped absolutly nothing? Without gear and peoples greed for it there would be no endgame. Sure you all could say it's more than that. Only suckers and retards don't do it for themselves first though.
