Gil System - Questions & Comments Plox!

Good day sir/madam!

There is a very small debate going on in the mod forum, mostly me wondering if it's something we should heavily look into. The gil system is already installed & working properly on shinraonline, so I'm sure it would be an easy move over to us.

The question I propose to people is...would you find it interesting? I have certain plans/other questions to Reeve if there is positive reinforcement here, but I'm concerned with how people treat the rate up/down system here. This is mostly coming from Mod Miros, I don't think the other mods know much about what I've talked to Reeve about, so don't go bombarding them with questions in PMs regarding this. xP Unless you want to...but I just want to get a general positive or negative idea from this is all.
 
Will hot sex sessions with certain members (read: Myrrh) be able to be purchased?

No, seriously, though, I'd rather have an arcade.
 
You mean gil system where you earn gil via posting (or other stuff) and in return we can equip our "accounts" with items?
 
You might want to explain what this "Gil System" will do for the user of this site. It allows you to buy stuff on the site? What's it for?

That's what I'm aiming for, I don't have a 100% we can do this just yet, but I was thinking of maybe having little trinkets you could purchase that would go near your avatar. Things such as; Windurst flag, AF body, FFVIII emblem. Small weird lil trinkets like that...just to maybe make the user base a little more unique then we already are. :p

While an arcade sounds cooler, adding in little nifty stuff like forum gil would be interesting regardless. It can't hurt to try it out.

Just to clear somethings up...Reeve has expressed 0 interest in putting an arcade in. His reasoning, if I remember clearly, was that it would take up far too much bandwith with the amount of traffic we have.
 
I think it sounds rather silly - I don't know, it might just be me but I think this would bring back the old PC+1 bull shit that I've seen you guys try to deal with. Rewards for post count would be a nightmare. A lot of users are having enough beefs with the whole rating system, I can't imagine the crap that would come up if you could 'pimp' your account.

I miss the idea of the RPG mod we almost had here ; ;
 
Keep everything as it is.

A chatroom would be better.

Shoutbox will just get spammed too.
 
GIl system would be neat.
Although probably make it so you can't earn it from posting on the flameboard :P

Aw, but that's the best place!

And how exactly would it work? I mean, the rep system is already heavily abused as it is. Friends rating friends up every chance they get, enemies rating enemies down every chance they get. I can't imagine the gil system really doing anything for the site at all.
 
The way it works at Shinraonline is that you have to pay gil everytime you post in the shoutbox. I don't know that else gil is used for over there (if anything),

I personally have no interest in it and would likely ignore it (or not have access to it at all on "Nightshift" as reeve hates updating templates).

On some boards I used to go to, you could use message board monies to make your username glow (ooooo) or get other doodads like the userbars to show up when you post.
 
I'm all for it as long as only admins can pimp their account and everyone else is left to complain about their blatant inadequacies.
