GM [Do you have a purpose?]

Not sure what prompted this, but I'll contribute. Most of my encounters where I call a GM on someone has been handled with the standard 'polite statement indicating it will be looked into' followed by 'zero information on the result of the inquiry'. Kinda feels like I'm being left in the dark when I have a grievance to report. I understand why but it's still kind of crappy. The only indication and not a perfect one is a '/sea all offender' and that person is missing. Did they get banned for a day? Who knows?

Lately, they are getting lazy with the whole STF side of things. Pot meet Kettle. I'm lazy too. I'll get to that. I report a clear 90% sure violation of scripting or cheats and I get a standard message (not even a /tell) stating I need to report this to the STF (GM is not able to handle these types of requests).

Now, I'm IN GAME when I find this. If I felt strong enough about it, I'd log out to report it to the STF properly. The problem is, it's not easy to find (for me) and I think you have to log out to report something. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong but it needs to be EASIER TO FIND and NEXT TO THE GM button!

verdict: Partially helpful, mostly useless

From people I've spoken to, you're not alone - 90% of said people have exactly the same opinion as you. Oh well, I guess we're used to it now!

GMs also seem pretty stupid. They don't seem to know much about the game.. Also, I wonder why you never see people who are GMs on forums.

I know they could be lying or you might ask yourself why would a GM want to make that kinda thing public, but they could just not use their in game name.

It's a curious subject as what GMs have access too from their screens. I mean, it could be stuff like, how to spawn almighty apkallu or kill AV.

But I suppose if that was true, it would eventually come out.

I think giving a GM that power is just like giving police power. You want it sometimes and other times it totally sucks. When people get GM'ed they never think they were doing anything "that wrong". And people flag others, it is because they are doing "the worst thing ever". I think people(some people) will abuse whatever system they are put into, its just human nature. I think if the players had a choice the GMs would be voted off from the game.
