GM's

Abyssal Earring is (career) drk only. I'm a career drk and I sometimes still wonder if I was "right" in picking it over Supp.

You know what they say, there's only 2 earrings from DM:

"Suppa" and "Damn I wished I got a Suppa"

Looks like some positive force was trying to change your fate =p

I think Antra doesn't mind getting Suppa as the earring. I think the rants are about how "good" is the service given by the GM . *Sarcasm*

You can argue all you want, but it doesn't make it less true XD

Nah I don't want to argue. I got a Suppa though ...

Keep your suppa, trust me.

Getting an Abyssal was one of the biggest regrets I have about this game.

Meh I picked up a wrong quest reward on WoW once, my own fault totally, called a GM and he swapped it for me. To be honest if I was the GM i'd of swapped for the one you wanted.

How far do these ffxi GM's powers really go? Can they even swap items for you or make mobs pop or make things drops? Maybe they simply lack the power to swap an item for you. The only thing I ever see or hear them do is throw people in jail and say "we'll look into it".

So Sheep and idiots? I must have been in the third category of people who didn't care about dual wield and wanted stats that would be useful to the half of the jobs that don't /nin.

As far as the items bit, they can do that.

Now whether or not you get a nice GM or a jerk that won't is another story....

If you're a first/only job SAM I can understand Bushi in a roundabout way, but for any other job just buy a Triumph for the same effect. Suppa is without doubt the best reward of the 5, and I'd love to hear arguments to the contrary aside from "I only want to level 1 job then quit FFXI so I don't need Suppa."

Dude enjoy your Suppa. I like just about every other monk in the server got Bushi and now that I have ninja at 75 I'm kicking my self in the ass. Enjoy one of the best mistakes you ever did.

Rofl well thanks for the reply's guys I'm not upset about the earring there is much better gear out there for my BLM, as Kirlua said it's more about the GM service that was at post here, I was threatend to have action taken against my account multiple times for just asking simple questions lol. And yes I plan on keeping the suppa it will come in handy for other jobs down the road.

That sucks how the GM's treated you Antra. We were freaking out after we got our earrings, because Zeromous(sp?) was saying that you were having issues with selecting your earring, and the rest of the ppl in your pt were asking you for D2, but no response...lol. then you just disappeared and we were hoping you were still able to get the earring you wanted. I guess you didn't get the one you want after all... Although from the sounds of it, the one you got should be good in you lvl other jobs...

If it makes you feel any better, the GMs don't know their own rules....

5.6 Online Conduct.
You, and not SEI, are responsible for your conduct at all times during your use of the PlayOnline Service. SEI makes no guarantee of the accuracy, correctness, or completeness of any material transmitted or otherwise provided to you during your use of PlayOnline (including, but not limited to, your use of any Fee-Based Services). Without limiting the foregoing, SEI will not be responsible for
(a) any errors or omissions arising from your use of the Software or your access to or use of PlayOnline;
(b) any losses or damages (including without limitation any lost data, opportunity, profits or revenue) arising from your use of the PlayOnline Service, the Software or any materials or services provided by SEI or by any third party; or
(c) any inappropriate conduct, harassment, use of foul, obscene or otherwise inappropriate language by other Users or any third parties.

This happened this afternoon, and the GM was getting hateful with me saying it was his discreption by which all rules are enforced and he didn't see any violations here. It's utter bullshit, but there is nothing we can do about it.

P.S. That is found in the PoL member agreement section 5(User Responsibilities).6 Online conduct.

If you re-read the TOS agreement, you'll realize that what you quoted states that SE is NOT responsible for inappropriate conduct, harassment, use of foul, obscene or otherwise inappropriate language by other Users or any third party.

They are not responsible for the brat on the otherside of the monitor cursing their little tongues out.
Also, this section of the ToS states nothing on actions against Users who break section 5.6, article c, and therefore, in essence, yes, it is up to the GM's discretion. However, you can pin them on being hypocritical. How then do you decide what's harassment and what's not? That's all on discretion of the GM.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to side with the GM on this one. Although I'd much rather be on your side and have him slap the kid who was cursing about.

Suppa does nothing for over half the jobs in the game, saying it's the only one worth getting is stupid when so many jobs would never equip it. Samurai gets the most use out of it, but any DD job would be able to make use of the 2 STR. Hell, the 5 parrying skill would probably help NIN in endgame more than 2 AGI would.

Suppa is good, but it's not the end-all, be-all earring.

Only one job in the game would equip Bushi over available alternatives.

The biggest draw for Suppa is that it's unique. Where else do you get a 5% DW bonus? Where can you buy that? You can't. Where can you buy 2STR? A lot of places. If you're willing to accept saving a million or 2 gil today for not being able to use one of the best endgame earrings for any job that wants to use two 1-handed weapons, I think that's a shortsighted way to look at things.

You know what?

This thread made me realize I made the wrong choice in DM Earrings.

what'd you pick?

yes, suppa is the only good DM earring essentially, everything else can really be close to have bought off AH.
