Do we really need them to hype the graphics?
Yes, we do. When graphics has been a major selling point for games on the system, as well as the creator saying it's the best looking console game
ever, they should be wow'ing the hell out of us with the game graphics. Jaffe's interviewed response to God of War 3 was "holy, holy, holy, holy, holy fucking shit." I should be using at least 3 holy's when I'm seeing the game; and I'm not even using one.
So what if this trailer wasn't what Jaffe said he saw, in the end we should just expect this, God of War 3 will be incredible even if the graphics aren't what we would expect.
I'm not a fan of developers praising their own games to high heaven, only to have the game not be nearly what was promised; graphics included. This wasn't even close to the killzone 2 trailer, and for Jaffe to say it's the best-looking game ever, it'll have to be better than that standard.
Besides we don't know when the release date is so whatever they have planned means they have time to finish tightening the last few nuts and bolts of gameplay and ass kicking pwnage and finish giving the game the last few bits of polish made of blood and gore from Greek monsters that Kratos has slaughtered time and time again >=D
That argument has been tried before, and it fails just as much now. Yes, they're not done with the game; yes, they can make improvements. No, a major upgrade in the graphics of the game will not be one of them if they want to have a chance in hell of meeting their deadline.
They're not going to do a complete overhaul on the engine and art this late in the game; there will be some polish, but no amount of polish cranks the game up from high-end PS2 graphics to high-end PS3 graphics.
So far the developers haven't gone wrong with this series and they will end this serious just like they did with GOW and GOW2. With Kratos murdering Gods in the most gruesomely beautiful way possible.
You can drop the "fanboy forgives everything" attitude already; I've already said that I'd play and enjoy the game just like the last two. The fact that the game's going to be fun is completely irrelevant and just shows you're either not paying attention or trying to divert attention away from what's actually being discussed.
Graphics are the only concern here, graphics and what Jaffe was promising during that interview; and how neither of them were reflected in that trailer.
