God of War 3 Preview

I think Baja meant it was irrelevant considering what Jaffe was all "ZOMG IT'S AWESOME!" about was graphics and stuffs. But ya, Graphics don't concern me. I still play older games with "Bad graphics" cause I enjoy them more than newer ones :P

Its far too much of an opinion thing to even discuss.

For me, wanting to play the game is my #1 concern. I dont want to play child games, so they are instantly not good games to me. You can call it unfair but its how i roll. There are older child games i respect as great simply because i was a child back then.

Graphics would be my #2 concern with any game. I want to see progression. I am no fan of the Wii or playing last gen games over again. I have been through the game, shared the experience and moved on. Gaming is probably one of the largest contributers to pushing further in technology simply because of the $$ it makes. I want high end, rediculous visuals on everything i play, and seriously we deserve it for $60 a pop.

I know games are ment to be fun yet fun is not even in my top 2 concers as a gamer. I have never found a single RPG to be fun, they are just too long and drawn out... Yet i love to play RPGs. FPSs are my fav game type and can be fun for me but honestly i am so concerned with how good i am doing i dont notice the fun... And i enjoy playing my games that way. The winning is the fun part.

Simply back to the first point... This is far too much of an opinion topic as far as what gamers play for.

Nice quote out of context.

No one is saying graphics is all that matters, gameplay is just as important, but a good game has both. Especially if its getting marketed as "the best looking game ever", its the mix of the two that matters.

Wow, way to take what I was saying completely out of context.

Graphics are what the discussion is about, gameplay is not. Everyone's already agreed that the game will play great, there's nothing to discuss.

I personally, would rather have a great game with good graphics, than a crap game with great graphics. But that's not what was being discussed, it was the graphics from this game not standing up to what it should be given the opinion of the creator of the series.

The marketing department of that company needs to show a couple screens of the newer version to stop the momentum of any complaints about the graphics. I can see the graphics getting a little better through polish, but not up to gears 2 levels, let alone past it, unless that is some ridiculously old footage that they showed us sunday night.
 
Ok, maybe that was a little out of context, but I still find the premise to be a bit silly. If I was gonna buy the game anyways, I wouldn't make such a big deal out of its shortcomings, but thats just me.

Saw the trailer a few times. NOW I'm really interested in the game, and they should fire their marketing department for releasing that other video.

I don't think it's leaps and bounds better than Gears of War 2 in terms of graphics, but it's up there.
 
Indeed, looking at this new trailer, it's apparent that the first trailer released in December was brought out FAR too early.

Ok i'm a huge GoW fan and i have to say that was the coolest thing i've seen yet.

I was almost regreting my ps3 but now there is hope, i cant wait to get this game, oh boy!

Sony have placed a survey asking the fans what they want to see in the CE of God of War III, mainly the usual stuff like audio commentary, statues, T Shirts... and God of War I AND II on Blu-Ray???

Bump/Necro since there's no later/other thread for it. Played the demo that came with the District 9 blu-ray, and the graphics are still not impressive. And before the fanboys bitch about how it's not done yet; there's no way in hell they'd release a version of the game to the general public to play that was not either finished or just shy of being finished in the graphics department(and graphics won't change with 4 months until release). There might be a very small amount of polish to add, but there aren't going to be the major improvements they need to get this to compete with something like Uncharted 2 or Gears of War 2. A year after the first reveal, and the graphics are cleaner, but not nearly as much detail as in most of the other games out today. If this was what Jaffe was talking about, then he's completely off his rocker.

As for gameplay, it's god of war, so not much has really changed. I love how they changed the button icons for the cinematic kills, but I hate that retarded stop-motion they do whenever you hit someone really hard. You'd hit an enemy, the game freezes for a split-second and then everything jumps around like the action never stopped; they just didn't show it to you.

I'll still get the game, but it's no where near what was being promised.

I dunno about that. When I think Playstation I see more of a soldier with a box, a... uh, Clank (fak it), or a spiky haired girl/boy with mix-matched cloths and chains.

To be honest, the Playstation brand has been around longer than Xbox and has had a more diverse line-up, by far, than Nintendo. It has no mascot and rightfully so. The Playstation brand has far surpassed the need of a Master Chief.

It's been rated 15+.

Ok, I stand corrected, they actually have impressive looking graphics in the game.

I'm also completely flabbergasted at the absolute shittiness of their marketing department; with all of the previous released media(videos, pictures, DEMO's) that were horribly unrepresentative of the final product. Especially for a game where the creator has come out and said he thought that it was the best looking game ever. That has to be the worst marketing group of all time, they've done absolutely nothing until right now to drum up interest for the game other than just say a new god of war was coming out.
