Good Riddance, MJ

Personally I'm sick and tired over this bullshit! let me tell you why.

I have seen NO fucking previous posts regarding whether Michael Jackson is a pedophile or not, so why share these accusations now?

Why come into a thread containing MOSTLY praises regarding this mans life and general respect sharing for his passing and fucking desecrate it with nonfactual accusations ?? Why? Because you fucks have nothing better to do than put a damper on things more so than there already is? Get the hell over yourselves, you want to protest his death or remind the general public that he was some sort of monster go right ahead, in another thread! Challenge this thread with one of your own, I promise you it will fail. There are few who actually bought into the bullshit that he was in fact a pedophile and for good logical reason. Others aren't so swift.

I'm done my rant, may it be deleted, may I get a warning or some shit.. idc I just polished a bottle of wine and am going to enjoy my evening NOT bashing the shit over a VERY recently deceased legend.

I never said he wasn't praise-worthy. I've got my share of Jackson CDs and was listening to "Billie Jean" on my way to work. I just object to the attitude that only one viewpoint is the "right" one in this thread. If a moderator sees differently and wishes to split them up, that's fine.

I'm not talking about you specifically either. I know what you mean and I have no problem with your opinion. I also have no problem with anyone's opinion on what they think about MJ. The thing I'm upset about is that people here were upset that he was dead. Then people like Eili decided that they wanted to make a rude ass comment. If you feel it's needed to debate his pedophilia, why not make another thread instead of interrupting a thread about the man's death. If you don't want to do it, I'll do it for you myself.

lol, you guys need to get some thicker skin. People are hardly all calling him a monster. Its a thread about Michael Jackson, of course there will be references to his troubles as they were a huge part of his life and the most recent. You are also delusional if you think that it is outrageous to call him a pedophile. Do I think he was? No I don't. But its hardly revolutionary stuff for people to call him out on that.

His life was filled with different stages, some good and some very bad. Most have been mentioned in this thread but a handful of people voicing their thoughts that happen to be on the negative stage of his life seems to have garnered a ton of reactions.

Just accept that there was a HUGE portion of his life that was surrounded with controversy and nasty implications, so its only natural a thread about him would include that.

Anyways...just to reply to Strid (I think it was him) MJ still has some percent of the rights to that huge list that includes a lot of the Beatles songs. I saw 25% on CNN, but I have no idea if that is the % of total royalties he was getting (owning all those before he got 50% max since the writers/performers got 50%) or if hes sold 3/4 of his stake in those songs.

Either way, its a pretty valuable asset and something I'm sure Paul would love to get his hands on.

Hey, I made one, maybe two, posts regarding my feelings about it and I can't help that it was the catalyst that made this thread snowball. I love how my name keeps coming up. Its pretty funny actually. I had stopped contributing because I thought better of what I had said, but not to the point where I'd edit my comment. Its truly how I felt about the topic. You can bring my name up as much as you like. It doesn't bother me.

No one had anything good to say about him until yesterday. Unlike everyone else, I am not a hypocrite and I shall continue to think he was a pedophile just like I did before he died.

And I never liked his music.

Besides, telling someone to keep their opinion to theirself on an open forum is way ruder than making fun of a pedophile.

No on had anything nice to say before he died eh? Thats just what the media has produced over the years, they only want you to see the bad stuff and push it until people think its the truth.
I clearly remember during the trial talking with a bunch of friends and co workers often about it, and there was one thing every single person i spoke with about it had to say.
"I dont think he did it"
Thats what ive always stuck to, the facts were just there. But thats me, im not gonna shove it in someones face who believes otherwise.

sure i thought he was weird and out there, i laughed at the jokes, i even retold some and made my own. But thats like joking about anything. I joke that my best friend is fat, he jokes about it too, does it mean i dont like him? nope. I joke about myself, my own family. Its just for a laugh.
I still liked MJ, i still do. I still stand by my belief that he was innocent.

He was something everyone in life wishes they could be, a kid forever.

My favorite joke so far is one of my own, i imagined that when he had the heart attack he grabbed his chest and let out a final "ah Hee Hee!" and hit the floor.

That is far less distasteful than half the crap ive heard since he passed though. Im just glad the people i work with and see everyday keep their humor in good taste, and all the BS stays online.

ever heard the expression, just because you can say something, doesn't mean you should? Yeah MJ was a pretty controversial figure, with all the accusation, and drama. but still the man just died and stepping into a thread where people are talking about their memory's of him and mourning his death and saying "cool, one less child molester in the world". is a pretty good way of making yourself look like an insensitive asshole. but given who its coming from, I can't say I'm surprised.

I heard Elton John is deeply saddened by Michael Jacksons sudden passing because now they won't be able to complete their collaboration on a new version of one of Eltons songs. It was supposed to be called "Don't Let Your Son Go Down On Me".

Exactly.

And the only reason I keep bringing up your name is because you were not only the first to do it, but the perfect example of the ignorance I'm talking about.

Interrupted the study of saints??? Who here is calling anyone a saint? Think about how you're using big words before you start tossing them around dont ya think?

Hagiography has another meaning beyond the one on Dictionary.com, but thank you for playing.

Wikipedia said:
The term "hagiography" has come to refer to the works of contemporary biographers and historians whom critics perceive to be uncritical and even "reverential." For example, critics of historian (and John F. Kennedy associate) Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. often call him a "Kennedy hagiographer."

The highly sanitized official biographies of KGB agents are described by Christopher Andrew as hagiographies, a practice that continued in the KGB's successor the SVG.

To the people who genuinly liked him that are tellin me to stop hating, I genuinly didn't like him and his pedophilia was just one reason. Another reason would be the fact that he owned the beatles catalog and sold it to people making commercials.

Several Beatles songs have appeared in commercials over the past two decades. Many Beatles fans have mixed feelings about this. But regardless of your stand on the matter, the fact is that Beatles songs are being used to peddle merchandise. That is unacceptable to me. Half the blame goes to Yoko Ono, and half the blame goes to Michael Jackson.

"The Beatles position is that they don't sing jingles to peddle sneakers, beer, pantyhose or anything else. Their position is that they wrote and recorded these songs as artists and not as pitchmen for any product." -Apple's attorney's statement July 18, 1987

"If it's allowed to happen, every Beatles song ever recorded is going to be advertising women's underwear and sausages. We've got to put a stop to it in order to set a precedent. Otherwise it's going to be a free-for-all. It's one thing when you're dead, but we're still around! They don't have any respect for the fact that we wrote and recorded those songs, and it was our lives." -George Harrison November 1987

"But the most difficult question is whether you should use songs for commercials. I haven't made up my mind. Generally, I don't like it, particularly with the Beatles stuff. When twenty years have passed maybe we'll move into the realm where it's okay to do it." Paul McCartney February 1988

Even if you are naive enough to think he didn't touch little kids, there is still plenty of reason for me to dislike him. And it is rock solid fact.

Jp and Thelona... calling me names just shows me you don't really have an arguement. It really only strengthens my resolve and helps to assure me I am right.

I guess this is just my way of remembering him as a money grubing disrespectful pedophile.

I called you a name? I didn't say anywhere "Trippyhippy is a..." I was talking about people as a whole. In fact, out of all the people I'm talking about, I was talking about you the least. Most things you post are rather intelligent and I usually agree with. And the argument is not about whether or not he's a pedophile because that isn't what this thread is about. This is about whether this is the right place to be talking about that or not. Me and you both know that it isn't the right place to be talking about this. You can think he's a pedophile all your life and it won't bug me. What bugs me is that you're talking about it here.

I was speaking of post 103 in this thread where you highlighted bits of Thelona's post and added "Exactly".

This is totally the right place. A thread questioning wether or not Michael Jackson died turned into a thread stating that Michael Jackson died turned into a thread remembering michael jackson.

I just have different memories than some of you.

Ah. See funny thing about that is if Thelona is talking about you, I didn't know. I was saying exactly thinking Thelona was about the person's name I keep bringing into the thread.

Well it was remembering good things about MJ. Posting bad things was just going to cause a fuss and I think you know that.

While not directed entirely at you, JP, you just brought up good cause for a point.

Death is death, nothin' more, nothin' less and I'll be damned if it's an excuse. If you wanna place blame on the shit stormmin' in this thread you need not look much further than MJ's crusaders. You know, there is a proper way to handle the difference of opinion and it doesn't include "no u r". If people were actually mourning it'd be one thing, but they aren't, not here at least. People are just lookin' for a little attention and come next month this thread will be long buried and people will have forgotten the guy -again- as they had last month, hell probably just before the day he died.

All threads die in about a month though? That's just how things work. Nothing goes on forever.

Anyways, where did I say "no u r?" I said that people need to learn how to keep their mouth shut about certain things because it'll cause an argument, like it has. And truthfully, the "you didn't care about him a couple days ago but now you do because he's dead" argument is kinda stupid. I barely knew my grandfather but when he died I wasn't supposed to be upset about it and go to his funeral because I didn't really care about him a couple days before his death? I'm going to care that he died, it's my grandfather. I cared about Michael Jackson, and just because I didn't go all over the place screaming his name didn't mean I "forgot" about him. It doesn't mean anyone "forgot" about him because they haven't talked about him recently.

Or is it and does it?

Anyways, where did I say "no u r?"

I believe my opening sentence was, "While not directed entirely at you, JP, you just brought up good cause for a point."

I said that people need to learn how to keep their mouth shut about certain things because it'll cause an argument, like it has.

In this thread that doesn't hold water. The man lead a questionable life to some and a gracious to others. Just because most young children only discern black and white doesn't mean the rest of us should abide to their limits. People here, while they may not act it, are far from children and like any good parent it's up to the adults to teach them their is a middle color and how to see it as well as respond to it.

And truthfully, the "you didn't care about him a couple days ago but now you do because he's dead" argument is kinda stupid.

I'm glad you think so but commin' from someone who missed the point of the openin' sentence in my last post, it's kind of hard for me to buy it.

And here is -your-, "no u r". After all, it's just my opinion.

See what happened here? Another unnecessary post. Shall we continue or is the hole deep enough already? Accept the opinions of others, just because I think the man lead a rather questionable life shouldn't waver your thoughts of him. If it does, there is a word for that and it's "fickle".

You seem to be completely blind to your role in the argument. Proclaiming that only one point of view is allowed in this thread -- only positive things may be spoken of Michael Jackson in a thread not dedicated to that purpose -- has just as much to do with your discontent as it does with anything negative that's been said about him. Why bother coming to a discussion board and if you're going to try to cut off the actual discussion?
