Got My Soul Calibur IV

As Yoda, when I played through his story mode if I used his healing ability it would end up flashing red and I'd freak out lol
 
You make that sound a lot more complicated than it is, and they did fix it if you have any sort of control over your character. After you break their guard (after its done flashing red) you just hit LB and it does it automatically, because they automatically get stunned when they get their guard broken.

break guard, break armor, hit them and then hit LB. It's not complicated, it's just a pain in the ass.

They didn't fix the turtling problem. Yeah, you can guard break them, but only after wailing on them for way too long. So while they did something, it's not actually fixing the problem.

Yeah. If you hit them at all after their guard is broken it goes all the way back up to yellow. It takes almost the whole match of them turtling just to get it to red sometimes, and being able to get all that back by just a stupid mistake is a pain. To top off the pain, hitting LB while they are stunned doesn't interrupt what you are doing now.
 
I agree, i think the story mode is a little disappointing. It really should be longer. Also the fact that I had every char unlocked in all of an hour or two was kinda sad as well.

However I still am enjoying the shit out of this game. The CAS is sick and it still looks major sexy. Only thing I wish is that you could either A) edit shura's armor or B) make a char with her weapons. I know shes a clone of cerv, but i like the 2 katanas better than his weapons.

Edit: And yeah A+B+K+G should cancel out w/e you're doing. I've done that acouple times where I mid combo and get the break and i'm like shit and hit the buttons (R1+L1 for me, dont have ABGK mapped) but still hit em back to yellow, pisses me off.

Another fucking edit: I just loaded up and did 3 critical finishers in one story mode with taki.

when their bar is flashing red they have to be blocking to initiate a soul crush and you have to hit them with certain attacks X amount of times while they are blocking, if they stop blocking it resets, very annoying. but five heavy attacks (y button on xbox) with them blocking and their bar flashing is an automatic soul crush, then just tap L bumper.
I forgot how many fast attacks it takes to get the soul crush, but it is an exact amount for each one to initiate it.


just got numeric god achievement, man that one sucked since its all luck

We had like 15 people sign up but only like 8 actually showed up. Of course i won it. I didn't have to break out Raphael to win either, i won with Ivy.
 
woot im currently number 53 in the world on arcade mode, got 505,121 and just in time to head out to work! peace!

I think i got this achievement on my second match played lol... Luck...

I need about 2000 more hits and meters of walking for both those achievements then i will cthink about hunting them all down. They seem easy enough.
 
I was going to gripe about Online Acheivements because some people don't have access to Live or just in general choose not to. It kinda annoyed me when they put some of them in gears.

Anyway lol so far I have done story with about 2-4 people, Buying characters was a bit random, and I need to unlock the Jedi Apprentice? and then there is a blank space left.

That's probably for Yoda/Vader.
 
I don't understand what you have to do for the Numerical God achievement? I decided to look what you have to do to unlock it since its all luck, but i can't figure out what to make of it.
 
basically you have to match the last two numbers of your total time played with the remaining time in a victorious match.

for instance.

you played for 13:45:33 total
you just won a match with 33 seconds left.
achievement unlocked.
what makes it all luck is the fact your total time played is always ticking and you never know where its so when you finish a match you just hope its the right time.
its bound to happen, so its just one you either get it fast or you wait.

I have cleared story mode with every character except the bonus characters, cleared arcade for 505,000, got a few online achievements, and am at level 34 in the tower, only made it to level 6 descending.
 
I've been learning raphael's moves and i love him *almost* as much as i did in SCII, but while in training i've found that the Apprentice is completely broken. So many of his moves break guard and can be used in a combo with other things that are up to 5 hits which can then combo in to themselves. I just did all the life bar and then some on the computer in training with it.

Hopefully not too many other people find all those moves or put them together, because it is just nuts.
 
I thought Gametrailers had gotten over their 360 vs. PS3 videos? lol
 
I compared the two at work today. I couldn't figure out why the PS3 version looked so much shittier. Then i remembered that the PS3 didn't come with component cables.
