From what I understand, you don't need any tanks in merit parties, since everything is so damn easy. Yet the only reason ninja still gets steady invites is because they can aid the party greatly in DoT, and while blinking hits away for the hell of it.
It'd probably help if SE made some higher tier incredibily tough mobs by 75 standards.
Stocking up on 800 defense and tons of vit seems to go to complete and utter waste in the realm of merit parties from what I hear/see. Plds can be stubbern people, using nothing but a sword and shield their entire career for every single thing they do. By 74/75, more of you guys need to buy haubs/brynies, try /nin, try and greatswords, and probably some other stuff I don't know about.
The all defense and no attack pld goes to waste very much against VTs and low incs.
I'd be interested to see a pld/mnk @ 75 in action too if they could do it, be it with or without a thief.
I like plds a lot, but some plds out there really need to expand their range of options as to what they can offer. Sort of like the same principal as good DDs; we level as much as 2 to 5 to subs for xp, have many gear swaps, and often level up several weapons to their cap. Drks for example often level scythe, greatsword, sword, and axe(for use with /nin).
I think it may help if more plds followed the same patterns good players in other jobs do. Skillup and level up several things in order to be flexible. Not to say I'm against the /war and sword+shield combo, but that's not all there is to pld. Plds these days are held to the same standards as DDs are, to be flexible to fit more situations.
