From Suare-Enix:
Recently it has come to our attention that an unauthorized third-party software tool was made available to the public. This tool allows players to change their job from anywhere in Vana \'diel.

In response to this, an emergency maintenance was carried out on Sep. 4 13:00 to 16:00 (PDT) to prevent further use of this tool within FINAL FANTASY XI.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, it has been determined that over 600 accounts will be either suspended or terminated for the malicious and intentional use of this third-party tool.

Woo 600 more dipshits down. {/cheer}

Damn... That would have been more then a little useful...

Is this 600 Quetz accounts or 600 total? Because divide 600 by 30 or so servers and we only lost 20 assholes . . .

Suspended or terminated. 90% chance of suspension I'd say.

Well, in all due respect I was one of those terminated last night and I have not intentionally used single third party tool in my entire 3 years of playing. I played by the books, I finally achieved full RDM AF2, 250M+ in gear between 2 LV75 jobs that I really enjoyed. I never bought gil, I never stole equipment, I leveled a craft at the right time and profited from it.

A friend sent a file over MSN the other day, I double clicked it without knowing what it was. It apparently was the job change program, I left it running for nearly a full day not knowing any better, went to change my bazaar, and surprise surprise, there was my ability to change my job anywhere.

I deleted the program then and there. I now have lost nearly 300 hours of gameplay, 2.5 years of playing a game I enjoyed all thanks to those worthless pricks who created these programs.

Have some compassion for those effected by this who never really deserved it -_-

Cry me a river, soccer mom! There's crack in her purse!
That's awesome. I hope the 250 million got by "hard work" left the server too.

That would have been nice. :P OMG my Dunes party is about to wipe again... /change to naked level 70 monk Pwnd! /switch back to Dragoon

Or if someone was a higher level white mage or red mage and was leveling another job. Bam no downtime between fights.

Abusive yes. Would of been interesting though.

It's good that they caught this.

I've been told this is what Colbwa got permanent ban for.

Hmm I didn't think of that...oh well, 20 down! Woo

Wow... that would have been damn useful... I would never have used it though, it's like the Speed hacks, Jumping bots to get you up on walls and the likes, It's all pretty shady stuff that could get you pretty f-ed up by SE for.

I like the windower, I'm glad they're not running around banning windower users :) Cause I'd be screwed...

Kinda off topic but on topic - Did colbwa really get permenantly banned for using one of these programs?!

Haha, guess this is round 2. NA's get anything that JP's use for less than 48 hours and boom, emergency maintenence.

One of two things here:

1) JP bias
or
2) NAs really, really suck at keeping exploits a secret.

Little of column a, little of column b?

Why does Square get so wound up about 3rd party programs? The windower and this are GOOD add ons which make the game more enjoyable.

Look at wow for example, and how many add ons they have. Wow staff embrace them and i've never ever seen or heard of a cheat on there.

Because being able to switch your main/sub at will breaks the game in half.

I understand that one, but why the windower? What harm does that cause except being able to "alt tab out and turn on cheat programs" like we all do

You probably have to either have the windower working to make use of all these hacks you hear about (teleportation to a NM, job changes) or the programs contain the same access coding as the windower. It's a gate program. People who don't use the windower don't hack the game.

To be fair they dont really try that hard to remove the windower...

I mean the worst i have heard of was a guy being put in jail for a few days.

Shame they do not crack down on sniffers and bots...

And yeah cubs is right it would break the game down the middle...I mean you would never die while lvling a job as long as its about 20 lvls below your main and also you would no need to rest.

Not to mention the whole "Oh look my pt wiped...75whm gogogo!" factor...

Btw i heard that the JP had this program for over a year...any comments?

It would explain the whole jp onry thing...i mean if you can choose two people who are the same job and one will never need to rest, just change job...which would you pick?

The people who claim that the JPs have had it for over a year are the same ones who claimed the JPs knew about the strange apparati are the same ones who claimed SE only changed the claim feature when NAs got ahold of voke bots are the same ones who always claim this stuff.

IE they just need something to whine about, and playing the race card gets them attention.

It is pretty much both.
