Ha, guess the down time was worth it

Column B all the way...there is always some idiot with a big mouth.

Atlhough there might be a little of column A if it was used regularly by JP and only 20 people were removed...

Most of the JP probably didn't use it because a) they run a big risk of getting their character banned. (i mean its paramount to running up walls and stuff)

b) it is so blatent that you are using it you will get caught.

I mean take all my examples...changing job while soloing so you do not die, raising with your high level whm when there is no MH next door...its pretty blatent that you are cheating if you are a lvl 40 BLM in CN 1 min then a lvl 75 WHM then next. But yeah no doubt some big mouth decided to make it more obvious by saying "Hey check this out!1!one!"

Why does Square get so wound up about 3rd party programs? The windower and this are GOOD add ons which make the game more enjoyable.

Look at wow for example, and how many add ons they have. Wow staff embrace them and i've never ever seen or heard of a cheat on there.

WoW has, and I'm sure still does, had addons that Blizzard doesn't approve of. Mostly things that will control your character for you, like automatically traveling from one town to another without even having to be at your keyboard.

As for the FFXI windower thing, I would have LOVED to have had the party TP counter thing when I was still playing. One of my big frustrations as a Thief was party members not being consistent with TP reports, and because of that not being sure whether we were starting the battle with a SAnTA'd skillchain or not.

Just a note, but WoW supports a Windowed mode as part of the stock instalation files. So having one can not be THAT inbalanced. (If it is at all, I just say the programers at SE are sloppy because this is a PS2 to PC game)

In WoW tho, everyone has the windowed mode since it's only on PC (correct me if I'm wrong). But in FFXI, people on PS2 don't have access to a windowed mode.

Yes you can have a laptop and all, but the point is some players have something that others don't have access to.

And I'm not saying it should be banned or not, just pointing out the difference between WoW and FFXI.

That's a good point Veresko. In Wow, part of the reason addons aren't looked down on is because they are available to everyone equally. Many things that started as add-ons Blizzard later added in as part of the game. They even have part of their official forums dedicated to add-ons and UIs.
