Shock shock horror horror. I actually made a Halo 3 thread O_o

Ok ok all joking aside, ever since E3 '09 I began to look forward to this, I'm liking the direction Bungie has gone with the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers being used instead of Master Chief so I am going to pick this up alongside a new 360 and a copy of Halo 3 when it comes out in September.

Plus apparently over here, the retailer Argos is doing pre-orders of ODST at £27 (epic win).

So how about you guys, I'm sure a few of you guys are looking forward to it =)
 
Ah, I've not at all looked into this, I saw one trailer for it ages back now. I really like Halo 3 so I'll probably pick this game up. Anywhere I can read up on this, I really shouldn't be left in the dark haha.
 
When you buy it you get the beta for Halo:Reach.

Which i assume means they must be really reaching for extra plot things.
 
Already have it pre-ordered too. I'm actually looking forward to Firefight the most, Bungie was right to say that is what some of us wanted the most, and I'm waiting to waste days playing it.
 
I'll be rentin' it for the story, maybe. I've already played the majority of the content on the disc, no point in payin' $60 for a Horde copycat and 8 hour, if that, campaign. Then again I'm no Halonaut.

It's just nice that they're expanding outside of Master Chief. Reach takes place(or rather, ends) right before Halo:CE, so he wouldn't even be out of his cryo nap.
 
In any case, Pre-ordered for £29.99 on amazon. Argos' price shot up to nearly £40. To be honest, I never rent games.

Edit: Just noticed from watching the footage from E3 again, hurrah, the return of the health bar. That's one thing I've missed in FPS games for a while.

Halo 3 had the health bar too.

No, Halo 3 had the shield bar. Once shields drained, you had health that had to be removed to die. Halo 1 had health and shield displays, and they removed health with Halo 2. ODST goes back to that with the stamina indicator on top of the health bar.
 
No one's disputing whether or not Halo 3 had a health separate from shield. Just that it's invisible after CE.

Hmm, I know you're probably right but I can't help but to think I remember their bein' another color in the shield bar when your shields was down to represent HP. Maybe I'm mixin' up current shield over rechargin' shield colors, I can't remember. Even if that is so, it's still not as clear as the old style tick marks which I had completely forgotten about.

This. There is no displayed health value on the HUD. A health bar, many would say.

You probably are. There was no UI indicator for how much health you had in Halo 3(and obviously, 2) once you've had your shields drained. ODST's UI health bar might not be as clear as the old 8 block display of Halo: CE, but it's still a health bar none the less.

Awesome new mini site... Once you get to the site select Pre-Mission Evaluation. You can then watch the evaluation for the three ODST teamates. The video on the right is a view of the ODST members memories.. There is a point in each video stream where you will need to enter a code for clearence. Bungie is so great at this hype stuff. Below are the codes for each member, they were inside the drop hatches during the gameplay trailer. Enjoy.

bad news for anyone who started playing this about two days ago when it leaked, Insta ban hammer! Glad i played it smart and opted to wait to buy it!
 
Awesome trailer, will definitly be picking this up day one.

Yeah Bungie actually punishes hackers and cheaters. It sometimes seems wrong how strict they are just because none of the other companies do anything. It doesnt effect me anyways so whatever.

I don't know too much about ODST, what exactly is it about? Like where does it take place in the Halo Universe?

It takes place in New Mombasa where halo 3 ended, when master chief takes off at the end of 3, the ODST is sent into new mombasa just after the covenant leaders escape destoryed most of the city.

I know right, Its like bungie has the passion to see their game played in the manner it was meant, like most of us feel when a glitch is exploited in a game we like playing and it ruins it for us, we just wish it wasnt there and could be stopped. Bungie makes that happen.
But, its not Bungie making this happen completely, all they are doing is giving MS gamertags of those playing it already and they can detect burned copies with this one (i honestly think they put it out early themselves to bait people) and MS bans their gamertag and or console.
