Handling Misconduct (Jan. 22)

An action that doesn't violate the EULA of the game?

Exactly. If people are willing to mercenary out for their gear - it's not what I would do, but w/e floats their boat. They're not cheating to get what they want, they're spending their gil to someone willing to put out the effort. To me, the challenge of the game is the whole point in playing it. To others, the end justifies the means I guess.

I was in no way trying to defend those who broke the agreements of the ToS.
I was simply enquiring what Zyndara's view on buying Salvage pieces is.

Just heard a rumour that Minidragon got banned, could be total bullshit, no idea.

To discuss the ethics of buying r/e gear goes well beyond the scope of this topic. Personally I see no problem with it if 1) a shell is willing to sell it and 2) someone's willing to pay what the shell charges. Does it make the gear less prestigious? That's hard to answer because quite frankly, how do I know whether they did or didn't? To me personally, if someone's smart enough to get a really sought after item in an easy, LEGAL way, I can't really fault them for doing so or look down on them.

well here is the top 10 best i can tell by the rumors

And this is for all the people who are crying about it

Is that as in;

This week we got.
Ares' 35
Ares' 25 and Ares' 15

Or;

This week we finally got the Ares' 35 to finish Mr. X's Ares' of which he got the 25 for 2 months ago. Following this we got his 15 the following day.

(Mr. X from Streets of Rage btw )

As in, last week we got 3+ 35's, a lot of 25's and a lot of 15's. This week we got 3 35's (week not over yet), several 25's and several 15's. Next week we will get 3+ 35's, several 25's and lot of 15's. Not that 15's and 25's matter, since most people have all 15's and 25's they need. Some even have every 15 and 25 from every set just in case.

You guys are solid at salvage, but jesus christ, can you stop with the rubbing it in everyone's face at all times? Its just getting old now, every single post here and on BG. Congrats, you do salvage legitimately, like almost everyone else does.

As for people who got banned, any idiot can tell you it was wrong and against ToS. You get caught, you pay the price. It was a calculated risk on their part and they got burned. 500 or w/e that got permabanned isnt really that many people across all servers anyway, its just that they are all "normal" players this time.
I'm sure you know the reason why we parade about Salvage. We don't really care about reputation or for people to like us. We want Salvage gear. Additionally, by advertising and making ourselves seen (be it through bragging, helping out, etc), people will see us, and if they are interested in Salvage gear and is willing to pay the price, might chose us. Thus, we got another customer. Whether we are hated by a lot of people likely won't matter to them, since they get what they want, without having to attend and help out unless they want to, and without having attend every run unless they want to. And we won't care if they stop coming once they get what they want.

Personally, I'm not rubbing them getting banned in their faces. I'm just saying they can't really blame SE for getting banned, as they actively chose to abuse an exploit. That'd be like saying SE can burn in hell for baning them after hacking, because SE hasn't made any attempt to make hacking impossible.

Time, yes. A lifetime, no. No game should require anyone to put such an absurd amount of time into accomplishing a single task only to fail and get so angry, you throw your own controller at the tv screen. SE makes people do that with their massively time intensive events and ironicly, people would continue to play the game whether those events require them to or not. Heck, I bet more people quit or avoid FF because of the amount required to play far more than the amount it keeps by constantly dangling carrots in front of their faces.

Not justifying what was done; however, SE creates monsters/events which require vast amounts of time only to see drops once in a blue moon and it's no wonder people are willing to break the rules. If SE actually played their own game, I bet anything this would be different.

Everything in this game requires time.

Some people chose to camp HNM's every day for gear and gil. We chose to do Salvage every day for gear and gil.

What exactly do you consider "absurd ammount of time?" One HNM camp can take anywhere from 30 min to 3 hours. If you attend all 3 in a single day, that can be 9 hours. Salvage takes 100 min per day, that's almost half the time a single HNM camp if it pops in last window.

In about 2 years Pchan have got 2 full Salvage sets, Mdk have got 3, several other people have got more then 1 full set, and a lot of people are 14/15 on 2 or 3 sets. That isn't a "lifetime". Most of them don't even do Salvage every day like me, Mdk and Pchan. They do it 3-4 times per week, as well as some mercenary runs every now and then for gil to help pay for their pieces.

The above posted is true, those that made use of the glitch are fully aware what SE's policy is around them.
They are fully aware of the risk of being suspended or banned, anyone that got the boot for using the exploit has no right to cry.

Personally I am pretty happy that SE is starting to take this stance.

I have to say, I love how BG say these 500 people getting perma banned will kill end-game. Like those 500 players across all servers could solo/duo/trio every enemy and event in the game.

I know. I didn't define what task and kept it very general because there really isn't anything in this game that's quick. From HNM to sky to sea and from the past to the present and to the future, it's all a massive time sink. The sad thing is, it doesn't need to be nor should it be, it's a game.

A two hour event is fine, it can be done casually for the average player. It can be scheduled in advance or for those with mixed schedules, done on the fly. However, when the drop rate is something like 1-5% on a NM that doesn't always pop or that's not always claimed, it's not casual. When there are players who are something like 0/100 or worse, then you know something is fucked up (read: SE). No one should spend 200 hours for an attempt at a single piece of gear and what's worse, that's not even a piece of gear, it's part of an upgrade.

I agree with you that the droprate is stupid. I don't think that's something you can use as a valid excuse for duping though. If people can't handle the droprate, they should find a suitable replacement for the gear and use that instead.

I could be wrong, but I think that originally, salvage gear was supposed to be comparable to relic weapons in the amount of time and dedication that was required to obtain it. Obviously from the number of people who have complete sets now, that isn't the case. How much of that can be attributed to duping? Not a clue. However, it seems like every day I see new people with salvage gear, so it can't be THAT hard.

The drop rate isn't as bad as you make it seem. Here:

Deimos's Head: 9.43%
Deimos's Body: 6.9%
Deimos's Hands: 18.94%
Deimos's Legs: 13.33%
Deimos's Feet: 23.08%

Freya's Head: 11.82%
Freya's Body: 13.33%
Freya's Hands: 3.85%
Freya's Legs: 10.77%
Freya's Feet: 10.99%

Hikazu Head: 6.84%
Hikazu Body: 5.56%
Hikazu Hands: 7.69%
Hikazu Legs: 16.48%
Hikazu Feet: 32.42%

Enlil's Head: 9.62%
Enlil's Body: 3.08%
Enlil's Hands: 7.69%
Enlil's Legs: 11.67%
Enlil's Feet: 3.85%

Macha's Head: 25%
Macha's Body: 3.28%
Macha's Hands: 35.57%
Macha's Legs: 9.84%
Macha's Feet: 19.23%

Average drop rate in Bhaflau: 41.38%
Average drop rate in Silver Sea: 7.92%
Average drop rate in Arrapago: 10.48%
Average drop rate in Zhayolm: 35%

In the Bhaflau drop per item, I'm also taking in to consideration that not all ramparts can pop an NM, and that some ramparts pop more then one. So here's statistics for that:

1F: 45.45% active rate
2F: 36.8% active rate
3F: 18.52% active rate
4F: 20% active rate

I also take in to consideration that there's about 50% chance Mad Bomber will be up. I really don't see why people complain about Bhaflau drop rate. SS drop rate I can see, but Bhaflau really don't have bad drop rate. The drop rate per item is about 40% and the average chance to see a rampart pop at least 1 NM is 25%.

This is data from every run we've done 2 years back, so 1253 total NM kills and 174 total drops. Granted, Bhaflau is a bit skewy as I started taking track of rampart active/not active rate roughly a year back, but it should be fairly accurate.

First, I'd like to thank SE for finally doing what needed to be done a long time ago. Though it was unfortunate it appears they gave out warning letters to some and didn't even suspend them.

Second, Pchan, Mdk and Uzor is it really so much to ask that you can stop bragging, you are not the only successful salvage shell out there, I know you are actively looking for more customers so you can keep doing salvage forever but it's kind of annoying how you do this to every thread that mentions salvage, you can advertise in the AH forum for those who are interested.

Third, UPS needs to hurry up and get me my computer back!

This thread IS about Salvage kind of, since those that got banned got banned because of Salvage. They justify it by saying drop rates are extremely low and it would take a life time to get any Salvage gear. Hence my post with drop percentages.

I'm well-aware we are not the only successful Salvage shell. I just like rubbing it in the faces of those that believe we duped drops as we apparently suck so much.

Just because it is about Salvage doesn't mean people need to hear about how awesomely skilled you guys are at random drop rates.

I laugh at all those fuckers who got banned. Fucking hilarious.

1/10 chance of being condescending if you hook me up with a tell asking to buy something? I assure you, I handle customers quite well. BEsides, you can be in a Salvage group and buy drops from us. We don't mind. It just means you might get it faster then you otherwise would.

The only reason I mentioned drop rates was because of Lavi's statement of Salvage drop rates sucking. Just because someone go 0/220 on a drop doesn't mean that's the average. I'm not claiming our drop rate is the correct one or the end-all one of exactness. It is, however, more average then going 0/220 on an item.

Saying "Drop rates suck" based on horror stories of people going 0/220 isn't exactly a good argument.

Hey guys, it takes a lot of skill to be lucky.

LOLOLOL wopa is most likely perma, 3+ salvage bodies along everything else. yeah he's done.

i think people will still do it if drop rate is high and exploit is there

Sandworm dupes to fund all those bodies too, I guess?

That's not the only thing he condones. Hellstorm, get lost.

I praise SE fully for this, and just have to laugh at the fools who got banhammered, and are now whining about it.

It says right there in the TOS, it's our responsibility to report glitches or errors upon finding them. I myself have reported one in the past. These people, however, chose to keep quiet about it and continued abusing it.

"Waaaah it's SE's fault. Droprates are so low, waaaaah." Cry me a river, you dug your grave. The real players can deal with the droprates just fine.

Also, I really don't think SE is going to be losing any sleep over losing "customers" in violation of their TOS. FFXI is definately not their only source of income.

I don't want to hear preaches about skill coming from an RMT. Can we delete this post or something?
Umm, who are you? Never even heard of you. How do you know what I do and do not condone? and trippy pot calling the kettle black? Yes it against the tos but so many other things people do. I'm not even complaining that they got punished, it how they was punished. SE should be looking at themselves and there lack of QA. Then again this is the sulotion se always uses ban the problem don't fix it.
