Happy Holidays!

lol, maybe it's you being too stupid to realize it.

obviously it is you who needs to re-attend school, because you do not know how to find the question in a story problem. There is a body to the story then there is a question based on the information given in the story which you need to answer, the part that states the question of what color the hat is is in the body of the story, not once is it stated in the question.

no its definately you.

good job trying to take my question out of context. but you still lose.

haha, as i have assumed i can get nowhere with someone who has regurgitated the fruit of wisdom for the bitter fruit of idiocy. you obviously have lost all hope in actually defending your position and have thus resorted to childish insults and stupidly defending what you think to be right, but which has been proven wrong time and time again.

i doubt you even read that comment, now you're just stupidly writing idiotic comments to aggrivate me.

i believe you said you were from britain? maybe i just assumed. but if you are, i have seriously lost hope in the famed british arguing abilities

i left the question in complete context... as it states at the VERY BEGINNING

"as the story goes:"

Guys, at this point it's just a back and forth about the hat color.
I do believe that somewhere on page I demonstrated that regardless of whether the hat color is taken into account, Thnikk's answer was still not complete. Nyrona even agreed a couple posts later. I think this is probably the point at which to consider this contest complete, unless there is a new angle not previously discussed.

i still dont believe that he was wrong sculli, considering if hat color is not taken into account, which it shouldnt, and if you realize there was no set numbering to the prisoners, then he was, in fact, correct

It's the second guy. Why? After a short time, Number 1 has not shouted out what colour hat he is wearing.
Because of this number 2 knows that he cannot be wearing the same colour hat as the person in front of him.
If he was then number 1 would see two black hats and would therefore know that his hat must be white.
He isn't wearing the same colour hat as the man in front.
The man in front is wearing a black hat.
number two can confidently shout out that the hat he is wearing is white.

That was easy, buddy.

From his answer, Thnikkaman understood my question exactly.
He had to tell me which person shouted what color hat and why.

now i never said thnikkaman's logic was wrong. i said his answer was wrong.

but this isn't grade school where you are awarded partial credit for a partially right answer. His final, and complete answer is incorrect, and no matter how you try to place the pieces together for me Nyrona, his answer is still wrong.

but the actual color shouldn't matter, it's like an integer, the actual integer doesn't matter, it's what the integer stands for. In this case the integer can equal 1 or 2, either the hat is white, X, or black, Y. but, does it really matter if Y = black, and X = white? no, because you still get the same value for the integer.

He was wrong no matter what others think. Only person who's opinion matters is Moch. Get over it.

there's your key word "shouldn't"

to you it shouldn't, but everyone else, INCLUDING Thnikkaman, thought it should, or why else would he have added a color into his final answer?

he gave the correct answer bigboy, he just used the wrong color, that is the ONLY thing that was wrong in his answer, and since it was not specified that you had to answer with the correct color in the original question/set of rules, then in fact, there is nothing incorrect with thnikk's answer

and I'd also like to point out, that Thnikkaman knew he was wrong but was too overcome with greed to admit he was wrong, or why'd else would he have gone back and edited the majority of his posts?

C'mon guys......Christmas is coming. Peace on earth, good will to men....and women.

In the sake of christmas, I think this thread should be locked up and done away with. I just want to say that I wish you all happy holidays and hope you get everything you want this christmas.

If the contest giver said he gave the wrong answer, he did. Only you and him have said he gave the right answer. And neither of your opinions change the fact that Moch says he's wrong. Just because you say so, doesn't make it the case. And it wont change the fact that he's not getting the gil. He behaved horribly over the whole situation and not only didn't win, but prooved he never should have. People who behave like that don't deserve rewards.

Now, my question is, which suspect was able to tell the officer the color of the hat on his head and why?
Just thought I'd point this out. You're not asking ME to tell you what colour his hat was. You're asking THEM to tell you what colour his hat was. You're asking ME to tell you WHICH one of THEM guessed the colour. Get it right, buddy.

(I left to visit my grandmother who just broke her arm, so I missed pages 8-12 of this thread. I'll read it when I have the time.)

ahh, yes, but in a contest the runner is supposed to be fair to all people, the fact being that thnikk got the same answer in a different way, but it was awarded to a different person, and thnikk was first.

you'd be the same way if it happened to you, so dont act like you wouldnt.

I wouldn't care, and I wouldn't drag it on for 12 pages. Sorry if I don't live up to your expectations. Just for the record, the contest runner doesn'r have to be fair, its not like he is a moderator or something. I thought he was fair, as he didn't get the answer he wanted, but there is nothing saying he had to be. If he wanted to, he could have said "You loose cuz I don't like you." Fairness has nothing to do with it. giving the answer the contest holder wanted to hear does. No matter if he got an answer, he needed to get the answer.
