Hollywood — Satisfied after having seen the film five times in its first two days in theaters, fans of “Star Wars” who waited in line for months to see the first screening of “Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” have now formed a new line on the sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard. “Lucas says he’s not going to make the final three films, but he might change his mind,” stated line “Grand Moff” Tom Catanneo, 37. “Besides, free wi-fi and endless debates over the genealogy of the Fett family is much better than going back to the half of my parents’ basement that I currently rent.”

Dedicated “Star Wars” fans are once again lining up outside of Mann’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, where they believe “Episode 7” is most likely to open should Lucas change his mind and make it. In the three year to infinity that they will be waiting, the approximately 150 line members spend their days surfing the Internet, playing “Star Wars” chess, and discussing minutiae from all six of the franchise’s films, along with 34 books and 193 comic book issues.

Members of the local community say that while they were once annoyed by the line of “Star Wars” fanatics, they have now come to view it as a positive contribution.

“That block used to be filled up largely with prostitutes and the ‘Star Wars’ nerds, while more annoying, have much less of an impact on property values,” said Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President Juan Serrano. “And all the tourists who come to stare at them are much more likely to shop and eat in Hollywood.”

Over the three months that line members waited before “Sith” opened, it developed a complex social order that remains in place. Catanneo is Grand Moff of the line, meaning he is the administrative head. Darth Lazarus, formerly known as 27-year-old toy store clerk Derek Turner, is the enforcer of order on the line, a figure both feared and respected. Lazarus and Catanneo report to a mysterious emperor, though his or her true identity is unknown.

Other members of the line are part of a galactic senate that supposedly enacts laws, but is largely a rubber stamp for the emperor’s desires. Some members of the Senate, though, led by Princess Sara Organa of Alderaan (better known as Encino), are believed to be leading a rebellion with hopes of taking over the line.

Despite the political turmoil, the most common topic of conversation on the line is still what they can expect to see if “Episode 7” even opens.

“I used to think I would have more reason to live after ROTS [line members’ acronym for “Revenge of the Sith”] opened,” said Ross Stessler, a line member who denied rumors he is a colonel in the Rebel Alliance. “But thanks to this line, I have a reason to go on and not commit suicide by light saber.”
