So it turns out this movie was absolutely wonderful. It did the book a fair amount of justice and had some actual good humor. Ron's doting on Hermione got a little annoying or lame, but in the end the whole thing was simply brilliant and well done.

Spoiler:
But what a place to end the first half! Right when You-Know-Who gets the You-Know-What from You-Know-Where!

After seeing Daniel Radcliffe's penis in Equus, Harry Potter will never be the same.

Wait, are they breaking the movie into two parts or something? First I've heard of it.

Have you been under a rock? Second part comes out in March I think.

I'm so angered I didn't book tickets to go see this! It's sold out everywhere for almost a week! FUUUUUUUUUU!

I'm still fuming over the last 2 books. Harry and Harmoine shoulda been a couple. They woulda been so good together..

The chick who plays harrys GF in the movie has one busted face....

saw it, loved it.... did the midnight matinee thing to be a part of / laugh at the geeks... they were all dressed up in some pretty amazing outfits... one guy showed up in full darth vader garb

Went and saw it last night, genuinely enjoyed it even if some of the parts made me wonder why they added it in. Spoiler to follow.

Spoiler:
I actually like the change they made to Hedwig's death, better then her just getting blasted while in her cage.

also I totally called where they were gonna end the movie. I don't know if they had said where they were gonna do it anywhere I just made a guess that turned out to be correct among my circle of friends.

Did the midnight showing last night with Zyndara, absolutely loved it.
There were some changes here and there, but overall I enjoyed the hell out of it.

And part 2 is July DW, 8 months is a long time to wait.

While I don't like Ginny's actress, this is silly. Ron and hermione have been set to be a couple since the very beginning. I don't like the on screen pairings, but in the books they are perfect.

Seeing this tonight, can't wait.

@Trist/Trippy

The films IMO, seemed to suggest there was something more to harry/harmoine. They have a very affectionate relationship.
I always thought they showed way more affection for eachother than with ron but maybe thats on screen chemistry.

also, bonnie wright is rrrrrowrrrrrr
I mean this in the NONflame-bait way: get the fuck out lol

She is the most lifeless actress i've ever seen. I'd rather watch megan fox for 2hours than bonnie, anyday.

And its probably just the on screen pairings that made me want harryharmoine. The actor who plays ron, it's hard to picture him and emma watson in love.
Same with radcliff and write. They have no on screen chemisty. Radcliff/Watson on the other hand, have a lot of chemistry.

On screen harry/ginny just seems awkward, that's the actors fault but still.
Rom/harmoine just don't look good together with the actors that's portraying them.

I don't enjoy watching Bonnie Wright either. She's just so awkward. That lack of self-awareness may work in her favour in the right role, but I always thought Ginny to be fairly assertive so it just distracts me. HarryxCormac!!

The movie was great. I only have a couple of complaints:

Spoiler:

1) They never explained the jinx on Voldemort's name.

2) The ending of the movie. While it was a great way to end part one of the movies, it doesn't really work so well with the book. In the book, there was a huge emphasis on Harry knowing where the Elder wand was and making a choice between the Deathly Hallows and Horcruxes. In the movie Voldemort simply got to the Elder wand without Harry seemingly having any knowledge of it.

Spoiler:
they also didn't show Kreacher's softening, which means he more then likely won't be leading an assault of house elves in the battle of Hogwarts, not that I ever had high hopes for that

Spoiler:
I feel like they can still work Kreacher leading the charge in the next movie. A simple scene between him and Harry would be enough to show that he's gotten better.

Spoiler:
the purist in me doesn't want to see them add another scene to the movie that wasn't in the book

I was very impressed and really liked the movie. I thought that there were specific scenes they did a fantastic job on. But I was irritated with a few things (as an admitted Potter nerd):

Spoiler:
1) Harry is supposed to be in hiding in the beginning and no one is supposed to know where he is. In the book, he's made up to look like a cousin of the Weasley's for Bill & Fleur's wedding, but in the movie there's Harry... all out in the open, "here I am!"

2) This is kind of a big one that carries over from the end of the last movie. I expected it to be resolved somehow at the beginning of this one, but it wasn't, and I was kind of irked. How is it that an incidental character like Cedric Diggory gets this big school gathering and memorial when he's killed and Dumbledore, the "greatest wizard of all time" and constant supporter, educator and protector of not only Harry but the whole of Hogwarts and good witches, wizards and muggles everywhere warrants nothing more than a few lit wands? He was a *huge* character throughout the series and he barely gets a seeya... And furthermore...

3) How in the hell, when Rita Skeeter's book and the conflict it creates in Harry is such a big part of how he handles himself in Deathly Hallows, is Dumbledore hardly discussed? Short of a flash of blue eye in the mirror shard, a drunken aunt at Bill's wedding gossiping about the book, and Ron asking Harry about whether the lack of information from Dumbledore bothers him, he's a total non-character, non-essential in the movie. His presence in the movie was like an afterthought at the very end of part one. How did it escape the screenwriter that there would be no happy(ish) ending to this series without Dumbledore's careful forethought and then guidance from the beyond?

I'm very curious to see how they are going to cram all that's left...
Spoiler:
...like 4 more horcruxes (including a huge, involved Gringott's heist and Harry's sacrifice) and the epic Hogwarts battle...
...into only one more movie.

Spoiler:
That's actually what worries me. I think that's ALL the movie is going to be. The Gringotts heist and the Hogwarts battle with the Horcruxs only having little 5 minute snippets and none of the intricate back story of Tom Riddle.

Spoiler:
When Ron destroyed the locket, he said the good news was that there were only 3 to go. Perhaps they changed the nnumber for the movies?

Spoiler:
Can someone explain to me just how the hell the sword ended up where it did? (I haven't read the books and the movie didn't explain squat!
