Here we go again...

And I'm sorry, three years between age 11 and age 14 does not make one wise by a stretch. I was arguably more stupid at age 14 than I was at age 11, at least at age 11 I was still quite obedient to my parents.

An 11 year is open to influence more than a 14 year old is what I'm getting at. I'm sure we must of been a lot different growing up as I was even worse as an 11 year old (hard to imagine I know right). Think of it this way, if you were 11 and had a 19 year old girlfriend you trusted and she told you sex was ok. I'm sure you'd probably think "oh ok then".

The only reason I am at all 'okay' with this story is because they were marrying. Which means obviously the parents/guardians on both ends are 'okay' with what has occurred. That and comments made, if accurate, by both parties seem genuine enough.

They're a young, VERY and TOO young, couple.

Shit my grandmother married at 13 to my grandfather who was 21, and was pregnant with my aunt at 14. Her parents were well aware of the age difference but gave my nanny an ultimatum. Either go to school (which she was always getting in trouble at for fighting) or marry my grandfather who was looking to have her for himself... and this was only in the 50's, it was not the norm anymore.

I think they're certainly both equally open to those influences.

No comment :O

Sorry, I gotta call horseshit. I think anyone would likely had consented given enough coaxing. At that point it becomes a trust issue, and in such a touchy (pun very much intended) situation, almost anyone would give in.

It was found out he wasn't the dad.

What school for kids at 11 has a playground? Bulgarian kids in what would be our middle school still get recess?

We had a 'playground' in middle school. But that's because the youngest students were 10-11 years old and may still want to swing. We didn't get recess but we had a 1/2 hour lunch were we could go outside.

Remember terminology differs.

And for the record, Trist I agree with what you're saying for the most part.

Different parts of the world still commonly entertain young girls having sex, being married, becoming a mother. It doesn't make it any les gross.

BUT, if you think about children of third world countries losing their parents are the tender age of 9,10, 11 etc, they are forced to grow up and fend for themselves very quickly and most manage for a while at least. They do their own farming, they work and do what they can for other villagers to make what money they can. They grow up. That's an extreme, but I'm just saying, different parts of the world have kids growing up and maturely at different ages. Here in North America and other 'civilized' parts of the world will often mature at later ages because we have the luxury most times to be a child for longer. This is not the 'norm' from country to country.

I would think that an 11 year old girl and a 14 year old girl would be about the same maturity wise and would both be equally influenced by an older boy. A lot of younger girls dream about finding their prince charming and having him take care of her. A lot of younger girls also say that they want to be a mommy when asked what they want to be when they grow up. Being that in that culture 14 year olds are able to be brides, then maybe this girl just wanted to grow up quickly. I know a lot of little girls want to grow up too quickly. :/ It really seems that the girl started liking him because he rescued her from bullies so in her mind he is like prince charming. Granted the boy really should have thought about what was going on a bit more. If both of their parents approve and the boy did marry her then good for them. I'm not saying that it's an ideal situation. It seems that it is more acceptable over there so to them it's really not that much out of the norm. Personally I don't think that marrying for the sake of the baby is always a good thing. With the father going to jail, that girl has a hard next few years for her and her baby. I hope that the grandparents are able and willing to help them.

I hope they have some sort of system to allow the father to work while he's in prison to help support the baby.
