Heroes Season 2 (Possible Spoilers)

That was, actually, something attributed to Wolverine's memory loss as well. Until they retconned it, but it does make sense.

!! I get so many X-Men vibes watching Heroes (for some obvious reasons, I guess, but other not so obvious ones too)
Especially season 1, mostly coz it started right after I read of few series of X-Men comics...

(Just felt like saying that since you mentioned Wolverine, the most awesome comic character evar [imo])

Thanks. :) My sister made me a Heroes nerd so I've been reading up stuff on it. This morning I was reading the email that Wireless sent out to people who are signed up for the Heroes 360 thing. Then I started reading a post that she had on her website that includes a video with victims of Maya's power. Also, I found the following text kind of funny:

Wireless's Blog said:
Beth K. has sent in this translation for the third article I posted concerning the Mayan Prophecy.

Is the end of the world approaching?
Shocking Mayan prophecy foreshadows it!

by Jesús Cortés, Copán Ruins, August 25

When the Spanish conquistadors reached Central America, they found extensive writings containing the wisdom of the ancient Mayan civilization. Stunned by their discovery, they decided to burn them.

For years, investigators have claimed to have found the most shocking secret of the Mayas: the world would end in December 2012.

Could this be true? Recent events near the Copán ruins indicate it could be.

Three days ago, government employees visiting the ruins came upon a macabre scene. Two watchmen were lying dead with a strange substance coming from their eyes, as if they had cried black tears. Authorities have not determined the cause of death, but World Opinion has linked the deaths with similar cases in Panama and Colombia.

A mysterious shaman tasked with preserving ancient Mayan wisdom agrees with his ancestors: "It is true ... 'black death' is a warning from the great God Quetzalcoatl that foreshadows the imminent end of the world. The Age of the Jaguar is about to end, exactly as my forebears predicted."
Yeah I knew that our server was named after a Mayan god but I found it funny that the name was in her blog. Anyway, I never put together that Maya might actually be referring to the Mayans. It makes sense I guess. If her power is emotionally driven then maybe she has a natural separation anxiety when away from her twin. Being a twin I know that it's hard being away from them the first few times but maybe she never had to deal with it. Also, if they are emotionally driven, let's hope Peter never gets close to her. We all know how emotional he gets.

Also, Wolverine is one of my favorite comic book characters. Tristam and I were comparing him and Claire yesterday. I also told him that I would die laughing if the following happens when Claire sees Peter again:
<Claire>Hey Uncle Petey! Look what we can do!
<Peter>What?
(Claire cuts off Peter's arm with a sword)
(Peter rolls on the ground cursing)
<Claire>Stop being such a pansey! It's only a flesh wound.
(Peter's arm grows back)
<Peter>That never stops being weird... (picks up old arm)

Whoa, you think what attacked mama Petrelli in the precint were insects (rats, ants or cocroaches), sent by that guy?

I would definately say insects probably attacked Mama Petrelli. Matt didn't seem to pick anyone up reading minds. The person obviously wasn't Claude because he would have at least sensed him being there. Doesn't necesarily have to be roaches that attacked her but something that could get in and out of a locked room with little notice. It also wasn't something we could see in a dark room. Unless the person has Haitian'ss, DL's, and Claude's abilities it probably wasn't someone in the room with her.

LMAO~

Jereme you are right, Parkman didn't get any toughts. Hmmm I also like what u guys were discussing about Claire's abilities. She really needs some Weapon X project so the others start taking her seriously.

I think the Haitian is the reason Peter doesn't remember anything. I think he found him and Peter wanted to forget he even had powers. Peter was probably thinking he is to dangerous after exploding. So he probably had the Haitian wipe his memory to protect everyone from himself.

I don't know why Peter's memory was wiped, but it's obvious the Hatian did it (both from the nature of his ability as well as the fact that Peter is currently wearing the Hatian's necklace).

But if I had to guess, I would bet it's part of a more elaborate scheme. Peter might be working with Mohinder, Noah & the Hatian to bring down the company. It's possible Peter's mind was erased to hide details of the plan, or possibly to hide himself for a while.

If my little conspiracy theory is true, expect one/some of the lolIrishGangstas to have an ability, or at least be strongly connected to someone who does (maybe kindly irish sister/hot love interest?? HMMMMM?) In other words, part of me thinks Peter's mind was wiped and he was put in the "iPod" shipping container deliberately, to meet the very people who were told to hijack the shipment.

As for the X-men connection - mutant superheroes, there was bound to be some crossover of characters / themes. Heroes is heavily influenced by comics in general and x-men in particular.

Wolverine - Claire
Rogue - Peter (lol)
Cyclops - haven't met this character yet, unless maybe Ted Sprague
Kitty Pryde - D.L.
Jean Grey / Professor X - Parkman
Beast - sort of Niki/Jessica
Nightcrawler - Hiro (BAMF)
Storm - expect to meet a character who can control the weather before the series ends. I'll give 2:1 odds the actress is black.
Jubilee - fuck this bitch she was never a real x-man

And the Company, like Magneto, claims to be advancing the human race by protecting and advancing the interests of mutants, while excusing the means to their ends all the time and generally acting like dicks.

Beast - sort of Niki/Jessica

Nikki/Jessica is more like The Hulk. One side a scared mother (scared scientist), the other a power house... minus the green.

So here's my theory on the Peter/Nathan arc:
Nathan grabs Peter when he's blowing up, flies him up and throws him as high as he can. Nathan tries to get out of the blast radius but can't quite make it, and gets horrifically injured as seen in the mirror. Peter recovers from his explosion and panics about what happened to Nathan, and finds him. Using the healer ability possibly gained from knowing Linderman, he fixes Nathan up while he's torn up with burns and such. Peter, realizing how much of a danger he is to everyone around him, has contact with the Haitian, and has his memory wiped and has himself be hidden away so he can't hurt anyone else, he would let himself get killed if it were possible but proven by the bomb, he could not. Nathan doesn't know about Peter being alive because either the Haitian fixed up his memory too, or he wasn't awake when he was healed.

Wonder-Twins I can see being much cooler with that blog post. I've always been interested in the theory of 2012 and the return of Quetzalcoatl. I'm very anxious to see that year, because a large part of me believes that there will be something huge. I think Alejandro's ability is that of redemption. Maya's is condemnation. When together they're balanced, but when apart, Maya's power overwhelms those around her with a vengeful punishment.

Kensei being Kane is a very awesome idea. As I see it, Kensei as shown in the past is in his first life. He is just coming into his power and doesn't understand it. Lives out his days until Hiro comes along and he starts to unlock more aspects of his powers. He falls deeply for the sword smith's daughter and when she finally dies he cannot take the sorrow of an eternal life without her and this turns him evil, which he reverts back to his English given name Kane, or adopts the name Kane perhaps from knowledge of the bible.

This would allow for him to progress through the ages gaining more power, and evolving with his environment. He may have had several offspring through the ages, or found special bloodlines through other means in which he tracks until they are to the point where he can surround himself with his peers. This would be the old group, the 9 (guess here) that was mentioned in the show. Perhaps in the past they were all together to fight against something they perceived as evil, but were tricked by Kane. And the one they destroyed was, in fact, the only one that could stop Kane. Fast forward to present day and Kane realizes that the ones he tricked have offspring that may someday challenge his power, so he is killing them off before they can warn and train them to fight him.

I don't think Peter ever met with Linderman though, Taur. Otherwise I like your theories on the whole thing.

Yay nice theories. I do agree for the most part with the comparisons of the Heroes to the X-Men but I don't think that was what they were going for. Most superpowers have been duplicated in many stories with the most commonly known ones being between DC and Marvel characters. A lot of their characters even have the same names: Captain Marvel, Sandman, Scarecrow, etc. Things like flight, time travel, super strength, telepathy, and invisibility have been used so much that's it's hard to pin point it down to having it based on one character being like just another one. In fact I'm sure with the loads of people in the Justice League of America that there are some of them that would fit into the different powers of the Heroes characters (I was more of a Marvel fan so I couldn't tell you about them). Heck half of the characters of Heroes could be combined to be Shazam. As a writer it's hard to come up with a completely original idea when there is soooooooooo much to be inspired by.

It's all been done.

Also, I think that Claire's power is a little bit more potent than Wolverine's being that she can regenerate. In the Age of Apolocalyse story arc, Wolverine had his hand melted off and it was always a stub after that. Claire gets blown up by Ted and she's fine in about 10 minutes. I also believe that the eclipse activates the powers somehow so the healing powers could possibly stop them from aging at the current state that they are at.

lolz. The resemblance is uncanny! :O

I just want to take a razor to his hair D: I hate that look.

All I know is that this year they better have a Peter, Silar showdown. This time Peter better be in control of his powers and not be such a pansy. I am not asking for much I just want the two most powerful characters to have a brawl.

I don't think Peter ever met with Linderman though, Taur. Otherwise I like your theories on the whole thing.

The only reason I think it's possible is that his father was a business associate with Linderman and they may have had some interaction in the past. This could easily allow for him to draw upon that power without realizing it out of desire to save his brother. Heck, we still haven't found out mama Petrelli's power and it might be similar.

Also, at what point did DL and Peter meet in the past? I never saw him pull a Shadowcat before, and then he just phases through those ropes like he's done it before.

Peter met all the heroes at the end of season 1 remember. The showdown with Sylar and all. He has sitting against a pillar while Nikki bitch slapped Sylar.

I am sure Peter had some interaction with Linderman but was it before or after his powers were activated. The eclipse plays a huge part in the Heroes powers. Mama Petrelli doesn't necesarilly have to have a power. Not everyone who worked for the company had a power. It was also mentioned that anyone with these powers could also lose them at sometime also. Mama Petrelli and Kaito could have both lost there powers somehow. I am just pissed they never showed Kaito's power.

The Eclipse is what starts the ability. Peter never met Linderman (in the TV show at least). Kaito's power will be shown at some point in the series. I know for sure that when Hiro returns and finds his father dead, he will go back in time to save him.

My sister would be heartbroken. She'd probably still think he is hot without the hair though.

Me too!! I bet either he get saved by Hiro (like Negorissimo says) or someone reveals the back story about the last group. Hopefully Mama Petrelli will since she had this recent brush with death. I know Nathan's not going to take anyone hurting his mother (even though she wanted to have most of New York killed) lightly since as far as he knows she's his only family that isn't dead or hasn't left him.

Show her that montage of Captain Marvel Petrelli and she'll think otherwise.

I am sure they will reveal his power sooner or later. I really don't think Hiro will attempt to save his father. He may go back in time to recieve the legacy his father has for him when Ando tells him. I am kinda torn now too. In season 1 Hiro said he couldn't save people from death with his power when he went back to save that girl from Sylar in season 1; yet future Hiro basically does everythign he can to save Ando. I really don'y think Hiro will try to save his father with time travel though.
