Heroes Season 2 (Possible Spoilers)

No I'm pretty sure that weakness has been exposed in Adam too. His heart (or chest?) when he got the arrow. Might also explain the whole "cutting out his heart" in his last trial, aside from the whole metaphorical explanation Yaeko and Hiro make.

Would make for an interesting plot point too. If Adam does turn out to be the main baddie, that might be the "key" to defeating him. First season Hiro learns it from the future, second one Hiro learns it from the past. Would also further the whole causality/destiny loop if the tales that inspired Hiro to be who he has, and the legends that he made with Adam in feudal Japan would be the key to his undoing.

This show needs to stop being so fucking epic. <_< The commercials are just amazing and leave you wanting more.

Remember Mohinder's Dad had found that they all had a common genetic marker, what if they all got that marker by being decendants of Kensei/Adam?

Actually I think that in the end this is going to be the key to defeating Adam.

I don't think Maya's ability can kill an immortal man. His eyes will go black and he will die, but he will come back to life right after.

I think mayas power could kill anyone except her brother(or his power).

I still think she (Maya) caries a variant of the Shanti virus. Thus also disabling the powers of those affected, while under the effect of it. Thus, Peter, Adam and Claire would be unable to recover from it, due to it blocking their powers.

I'd say the reason the future is as it is, is due to Sylar killing the brother. This arc won't be a "Save the cheerleader, save the world" kind of thing, I'd say its a "Save the brother, save the world" thing, as he's the cure to the virus.

I have to agree with Uzor's theory on Maya and her brother. It isn't so much they carry the virus and cure but there abilties are the virus and the cure.

Where did you get that she has the virus or a variant of it? I don't remember anyone ever saying that she was sick(aside from considering her powers as a disease), only that she has some freaky power that kills people around her.

The only power users she's been around are her brother and Sylar, but he didn't have any powers anyways; so I don't see how you're thinking she blocks out other people's powers. Or why it blocks out everyone's powers but her brother's.

Edit: the old lady said it was an illness, but I think that was more metaphor than a real disease.

I think when that old lady said "What you carry inside you is black. Enough to kill the devil." that was a huge clue to as to how you kill someone who is immortal it can heal from any wound.

The book that he wrote have a section about active evolution that states the following

Evolution is a matter of choice.

When a mutation is introduced, a decision is made.

Nature asks, "Does this new characteristic have value?"

"Does it represent progress?"

"Will it benefit the species?"

Let's take human flight, as an example.

One can imagine the ability to fly would enhance a person's chance of survival AND be attractive to the opposite sex. This makes choice easy.

But, as a contrast, there are mutations that could harm the positive evolution of a species. Like the ability to host a deadly virus.

Naturally, this type of trait is often rejected because if left unchecked, the worst cases of scenarios can occur... the extinction of the species. But in some cases the very mutation that seems most destructive can be cured, corrected or eradicated. Or better yet take the virtually immortal cancer cell. Some scientists believe it actually holds the secret to keeping healthy cells alive longer. A seemingly unattractive mutation holding the potential for something great.

And that is why, as beings capable of inserting ourselves into evolution's decision making process we have the obligation to fully understand our own species' mutations in order to ensure that the right choices are made. In order to ensure we do not ignore a hidden gift from nature.
I'm positive it refers to Maya's ability. In Peter's Future, the Shanti virus had almost made all of mankind extinct.

1+1=2

edit: I think the reason they think Claire can be the key to curing the virus is because of her regenerative abilities being in the blood or something. They mentioned having Adam locked up, and Nathan being really badly hurt under their care. So maybe they used Adam's blood to cure Nathan, and thus know that using the blood of someone with regenerative abilities can heal other people. So maybe they think the same think will work on the Shanti disease.

Nuclear Ted's powers would fall under that section of the book as well, do you think he has a virus too? She has a destructive power, it's even more so because she can't control it, but there's no proof that it's a virus. That'd be an incredibly lame power anyways, being a host to a virus; it also wouldn't explain how her brother can survive taking it into him all the time without any ill effects.

The virus in the future isn't necessarily because of Maya. It is significantly more likely(I would honestly say certainly, but I could see Maya's being used as an "unexpected" twist) that it's due to the Company's intentional redesigning and mutating of the virus that they made the incurable strain that effects everyone; something that Saresh explicitly warned them about.

You're reaching pretty far with Maya's powers being a virus, they could do that, but I really don't think it's likely.

I guess we will see somewhat tonight. The reason the twins are wanted will be shown in tonights episode which might help bring some facts about her ability.

Yeah, we'll know if Uzor's right as they reveal more of the story.

I'm with Baja in that the Shanti Virus and Maya's powers are a separate thing. We don't know Maya's death range but it is not the world and she can't travel the whole world in 5 months to kill 99% of the population. But I do like the future is like it is because Sylar killed Alejandro angle. ^^

No, I'm not saying Ted has a virus. He's nuclear. His power doesn't fall under "But, as a contrast, there are mutations that could harm the positive evolution of a species. Like the ability to host a deadly virus". Yes, he falls under the first part, but not the second that I was referring to.

I never said that the virus in the future is due to Maya. I said the reason to it is because of her brother being dead. Due to Sylar having killed him, thus the cure for the Shanti virus can't be developed from his blood.

However, that does raise an interesting event. Sylar killing Maya and stealing her power, then being unable to control himself or something. Anyway, I find that unlikely as well, and yes, I find it more likely that Adam Monroe succeeded in his plan of spreading the virus. Or the Company accidentally causing it to spread.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Maya's ability can't reach the whole world. She has yet to really figure out how to control it. Matt could't do much with his power either at first but his dad could trap little Molly from more then 200 miles away. We have no clue on how far she could reach or if she could just target a single person with this when she finally gets control of it.
