danger with a name like that you'll have fat 600 pound 31 year old geeks that breathe heavily all over you. but with a name like Pithairs you'll be fine! 8)

start in Windy  its better!

RDM is a cheap and easy job the lvl for your first job, um... wear a signit while fighting so you get crystals and sell them for money. Join a linkshell for support from fellow players. and SAVE all those Beastman's Seals.

if you start in windy while you lvl in the SARABUTA area its prety easy the lvl cloth up a bit for a lil extra supported income here's a list of the things you can craft and there lvl http://ffxi.somepage.com/recipedb/list.php?guild=3

that's my 2 cents if you get the mission 2-3 i can solo it and its a lot of fun fighting that dragon gimi a /tell :)

GL Have fun its awfuly addicting

Hello and welcome to FFXI, assuming you get set up and such. Welcome to Quetzalcoatl, if thats the server you're joining. Best advice for beginners:

1. Dont ask people for gil. As you play, you'll figure out your own routine for making the make-believe money. But early on, always remember your signet and sell the crystals you get with it on the AH (Auction House).. It wont be much (though some crystals sell for more than others), but it'll be a steady source of income and more than enough money for gear from level 1-20 at least.

2. Most people dont appreciate random /shout's in cities or anywhere else for that matter. Save /shout for requesting help at large for a mission or other task like that.

3. Try to keep your gear and weapons updated as per your level. Now this isnt to say 'go out and buy the most expensive stuff', but at least keep it up to date with your level. Some things will likely be out of your price range initially, but you'll find easier ways to make gil later on and soon enough those hard to get items will be yours. Until then, at least get the average stuff. If not, you'll notice your damage (be it from spells or weapons) and your defense will be seriously hampered.

4. At level 18, you get whats called a subjob (After a short and relatively easy quest). Its very important to gain levels in your subjob when not playing as your main. It provides you with additional hitpoints, magic points, and stat bonuses and spells, depending on the job. It plays a vital role in your characters development. Keep it leveled, to help yourself and your party mates.

If you need help, dont be afraid to ask people in-game for it. If you dont understand something, ask someone in your party. They'll (likely) be more than happy to point you in the right direction. Aside from that, keep a friendly attitude when playing and you should be fine. Good luck out there.

Hi. Nice to meet you. Names Taruri. :D

yeah i didn't wanna ask for gil, sounded kinda unprofessional, but like i said (to the other post now) i wanted to go to the Alex server with my cuz. but it took me to this Quetz place. so i looked up forums and found this one and its cool! but yeah.... i do know some things like i know what crystals are and stuff like that.....

ohhhh and the Naughtymithra was a fun name lol, it kinda represents my nature, and if that person said about nerds i dont mind they're people too! haha, besides if they wanna have fun and i get gil why not? ;) haha

But i'll still help out for gil, and odd jobs! /tell me for anything ;)

well true to an extent :P you might wanna do some research on http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/ or http://ffxi.somepage.com/ for the job you wish to take all the way to level 75. Now.. for the gear.. some gear will actually last you all the way to the end of the game. Spike Necklace is a level 21 neck piece that some level 75 still use because no other neckpiece has the STR and DEX it does (making it great for a melee's WS). Granted there are a few bette pieces depending on the situation but that's for you to discover :D Just learn about the job you wanna be and then make sure your gear goes to the stats you wish to improve. Leveling my WAR right now I focus mostly on STR with some DEX backing. I think I do some nice damage for a low level WAR :P
