Hi.

Its not the same to you because you're caught in your own emotion. Look at the facts

MNK meritable abilities:
Formless Strikes -- Ability to ignore invincible status.
Mantra -- HP Boost to entire party
Invigorate -- Adds regen effect to Chakra
Penance -- Attaches Subtle Blow effect on Mobs after they are Chi Blasted.

Each of the above have great use within the game, with the exception of Mantra as only somewhat useful.

WAR meritable abilities:
Warrior's Charge -- Great, but once every 10 minutes you get 1 double-attack...
Tomahawk -- Useful in One zone of limbus, worthless everywhere else
Savagery -- When Warcry is up, allows you to Steel Cyclone at slightly less tp than 300 and get the 300 effect
Aggressive Aim -- Adds Ranged acc to aggressor...

Its not even a contest who has the better abilities. Just because its not specifically what you asked for doesn't mean SE is ignoring you. Having Retaliation added FINALLY gives wars something else to use.

Really, tell me about all these buffs that war is getting. Because frankly, the only buffs its been getting is me paying out 4M gil for one percentage of haste (which MNK/SAM/NIN get for 500k). Or paying 20+M for a speed belt for 6% haste (You can buy blackbelts for less than this).

If SE wouldn't have given MNKs everything to begin with, they could have gotten gradual additions in the first place. RSE means nothing...Unicorn is just another gearset that's less valuable than what I use.

If you want to be someone complaining, then be a real job that's gotten hosed from the start and hasn't gotten any better. Don't talk to me telling me MNKs deserve anything else when WAR gets their first legit upgrade in years.

PS: Saying you agree to disagree after giving a long explanation defeats the purpose of saying it
Addressing your PS first:

I actually thought my last post was a pretty short reply, I had written something about three times longer when I just decided to fuck it and not argue. I respect your opinion, I just don't agree with it. That being said, I'll continue this discussion if you want, but lets just try and keep this civil, we're all friends here.

Please, explain to me how adding TP to Counter is the same as removing Double Attack from /war? Everyone who wanted it could gain TP from Counter, that's not the same as making something exclusive....

Tier II Merits: Yes, we get some decent things. The two best are Invigorate and Penance (great help on Salvage bosses). Formless Strikes are useful in some situations, but you don't want to put any upgrades into it because it's a waste. Mantra is just lol, no Monk should purchase it. 3/3 Invigorate, 2/3 Penance, 1/3 Formless Strikes. That's the best combination.

Warrior's Charge is the only really great one you have, so I'll concede that our Tier II merits are better than yours.

Maybe I was mistaken about Warrior updates, but it feels like you guys keep getting additions. Samurai is even worse, the only consolation there is that they weren't as powerful as Warriors to begin with.

I bought my Black Belt, it took me over a year of camping HNMs and 9M gil.

Monk hasn't had everything from the start, when I was leveling no one wanted Monks. We didn't really pick up until ToAU came out and melee burns became common place, even though they were more efficient before. The same can be said of Warrior though. I took a break from the game when I was 72; when I left Warriors and Monks were looked down upon. When I came back 6 months later, we were both the bees knee.

JSE isn't supposed to be a great set, I just want something that's got a few nice situational pieces. Like I said before, give me a JSE set with one Enhance: Chakra piece (in a new slot) and I'd be happy.

I'm not asking for SE to come down and make Monk the be all end all DD. I just want a few adjustments and some JSE. That's really not too much to ask.

PS: I'd be interested in parsing with you, I'd like to see the difference in our numbers.

Edit:
I'm just saying don't rain on my parade :)
I apologize if I did. I would be happy if I was a Warrior or Samurai as well. lol

Hi. I'm a DRG.

Penta Thrust still sucks hardcore unless you have a dmg: 100 polearm. Lucky me.

Wyverns can spin around thanks to emotes.

Can't wear hauby, osode or b. haidate.

Our wyvern's DoT is great as long as you're fighting bones or pots.

If you don't solo, the only decent piece of dynamis gear would be the hands. If you have the +1. Lucky me.

It really sucks if we have to sub NIN. What sucks more is if we do sub NIN our shadows only disappear by time cancellation.

I've been asked to join DRG burns and I couldn't accept the invite because I was crying too much. We still don't get invites so we have to start parties. We only get mages if they're our friends.

We got Angons a long time ago. Its when we throw a spear to reduce an enemy's defense, but the range on throwing them isn't near the range of a /ra boomerang.

But what were we saying? Ah, yeah. Poor mnk, poor war?

Our level 70 JSE has +enmity on it only because SE just really wants us to die.

ITT: The two most powerful melee DDs argue over who should get even more awesomer.

I'd sig this if it weren't in a private forum and no outsiders could get the context, lol.

I don't think any existing job needs to be or should be nerfed. But gdi SE, just fucking balance the jobs that that have been there since day 1 and are still massively weaker than the other melee DD jobs. If this were a complicated issue, then I'd have some understanding, but it's not. I'm no expert on the other DDers, but I can solve the problem with THF in about 30 seconds:

1. Dagger skill (the ONLY viable weapon for THF) is now A+
2. LV 45 job trait: Lv1 Attack bonus (the same one WAR gets at lv 30)
3. Some armor that gives +Acc and +Attack both and isn't LOLbestTHFcanget, or take 2 years to earn and is still second-rate to a Hauby for TPing.

I'm not even sure that would be enough, but I'd orgasm from just that bit.

Well, Fellina and I have decided to do our "Victory Lap" (as I call it) in FF XI. Not to imply that we've won anything, but are in fact going to be calling it quits.

I think the final straw for me (this time) is the thought of going through hell to earn gil for a Skadi Currie. SE has disemboweled the craft I leveled (Alchemy) and continues to do so with the new NIN sneak. Also, I've gone mining for the ores only to see how rediculously UNDERPRICED the Khroma ore is at 400k. If it weren't for Chinese slave labor RMT doing POS hacks to mine it 24/7, it would cost much more. Regardless, the price is increasing faster than I could keep up (already gone from 8M for the full stack of I.W. ingots to over 12M in a month).

Finally, the new update just drove home how SE will never give parity to my favorite job, Thief. Warrior got a JA of very limited usefulness, but it's at least slightly useful. What Thief got is just a slap in the face, completely worthless. Again, that's the standard modus operandi for SE. I can bust my balls to be as good as possible, but still only be mediocre compared to SE's princess jobs.

I've been ready to leave several times in the past, but Fellina has always pulled me back into the game with something to do. This time, she's the one who is just tired and fed-up with FF XI, so there's really nothing to bring me back from the edge. So, back to the Victory Lap concept.

We are tentatively planning on quitting the end of April. Before then I'd like to do a few things:

1. Burn through my KSs and BSs. I'd like to leave a load of gil with my friends when I go.
2. Get NIN to 75 and do one Cannon party with it.
3. Give what gear I can to friends; sell the rest and hand out some gil. This will be last of course.

I'm not going to just say "screw it all" and start fucking around just because I plan to leave. I'll still play the same as ever. I haven't gotten to the point where I hate the game or it's a total chore (just most of it is tedious to me), and I think that's a good time to quit. Playing until the thought of FF XI makes you vomit would ruin the good memories. I'll still be around and play as hard as ever, I just won't be taking any R/Ex drops.

The people in this thread are the first to know. It will be a few days before we announce it to the rest of our friends/shells.

I'm sad to see you guys leave, we had a ton of great times together. I wish we'd been able to do more since I came back. I'll help with any/all of the events you want to get done before you quit.

I still remember the first time we partied together in Boyahda, I was so excited when you told me I was in. You guys were some of my closest friends in-game and I'm sad that we've drifted apart so much. I understand your frustration though. I've been thinking about taking a break from the game as well. The only two things I do now are Assault and Salvage, and I only do Assault to fund Salvage. When I stop and think about it, I wonder why I'm even bothering since when I'm finished with Salvage, there will be nothing for me to do. I've only been staying because I wanted to do more missions from WoTG, but they didn't even add any this update.

Anyway, you guys let me know if you want to hang out some in-game before you take off.

I can't think of anything more to say than :(

I don't play really anymore (1 night every 2 weeks or so if even) and I still have all my gear and 30 mil gil. As well as scads of BS and KS.

If you do come play WoW (please do) then yea, it's Bloodscalp. Be cool like the rest of us and make blood elves. I could totally see you as pally and Fel as a mage or lock. If you come to that server, Allen and I can help you :)

Megan and I are considering WoW. We plan to download the free 10-day trial and see if it's something we'd like. If we do like it, I'll be torn between you guys and the server an old college friend of mine plays on.

And yes, Draciot, how about we do a cannon pt together when I get Ninja to 75? You can tank for me, lol.

You can easily do both. Unlike FFXI, every time you want to do something new you have to do it on a completely new character. You can just put one on each server and bounce between them. I never imagined playing more than one char but I have several already.
