Hi.

I've cleared everything of value out of my account. I moved Osse to to Windy Woods and logged him out for the last time today. I dressed him up as BLM (best I could with the limited gear remaining) and logged out in Windy because it seemed like the best way to end. It felt like going full circle.

I'll still hang around here and AG.com, but I don't think I'll be posting in the public forums of QCDN. I don't see the point of it now that I'm not playing FF. To quote the Violent Femmes, "It was fun, but now it's done."
Sad to see you leave, Osse.

I'm feeling the pull to quit now as well. All but a few of my friends are gone.

Edit:

I wish quite a few people that still fucking troll here would feel the same way. Looking at the first page of sorting by rep I see about 6 or 7 people on that page alone.
:( :(
This made me giggle. :P

Latest update on my computer-blues saga.

The new video card doesn't work, it fails on 3D graphics acceleration both in games and with a DirectX diagnostic check. However, I think I'm just going to send it back and try to get a refund or store credit. I put Megan's old video card into my computer, since hers only had occasional static with WoW. My computer still freezes at random times. On top of that, I've found that the graphics issues I've been having are just from my 5 year old CRT monitor going bad.

I've done some pricing online, and it looks like I can build a decent AMD 64-bit AM2 computer for around $400. It won't be top of the line, but it will blow my current computer out of the water. Plus, it would actually WORK. What a concept. The down side is that a 64-bit system requires either Windows XP 64 or Windows Vista. That's another $220 right there. And, I still need a new monitor... $200 for just a decent one. The only good news in this is that I may be able to finagle getting Windows Vista onto an upgraded computer for Megan in a year or two. ("Gee MS, I need to install that again because my HDD crashed.")

This reminds me of a conversation I had with my brother Larry once.

Me: Sometimes it just feels like everything is ganging up on me at once. I just go from one unexpected expense to another.
Larry: There's a word for that.
Me: What's that?
Larry: "Life"

I have an AMD Athlon 64 bit processor, and I run Windows XP Pro 32bit. I've had 64 bit on my pc before, but since my favorite security programs do not have 64 bit version, I switched back to 32.

So... I can continue to run my XP pro with no issues on a 64 bit processor/motherboard? That would be good news indeed. I'll need to upgrade eventually, but I can wait until the timing is less... painful.

I believe so, yes. I've never had any problems (other than the standard Windows bullshit).
