Since I can't use my computer for much of anything at the moment, I've been watching more TV. For me, that means the History Channel, since that and some anime are the only things that interest me on the idiot box.
I watched a show entitled "Blades", on the history of bladed weapons and tools. One thing that really caught my attention was some British group called the Renaissance Martial Arts Association (or very similar to that). They work to preserve the tradition of European style martial arts. Now, I know that you may be snickering at that, much like I was at first. That's because I instinctively think of Hollywood sword fighting scenes. But my God, these guys were nothing like that. It's was an impressive flurry of blademanship. I never would have thought a big two-handed claymore could be moved that fast and fluidly. These guys are also amatures compared to what a real Knight would have been like, so I'd have no problem putting even money on a British Knight vs. a Samurai after seeing that.
