I've gotten my Rogue in WoW up to level 17 now, and I'm really liking it. It blows FF's THF away. For those of you who don't play WoW, here's a partial summary of what it can do:

Stealth: lasts until you drop it, take an action or are detected (it's not guaranteed undetectable) and it has a 10 second cool-down before you can use it again. Compare that to Hide every 5 minutes, that will last about 30 seconds.

Backstab: same as Sneak Attack in theory, but you can use it as often as you have Energy (used to power the Rogue abilities)

Gouge, Sap: both render the target incapacitated for a period of time, giving Rogue crowd control ability. Sap requires you be in stealth, so cannot be used in combat. Gouge can be used in combat and allows a solo Rogue to get behind a target and Backstab even if you are in the middle of the fight.

Evasion: It's like a half-strength Perfect Dodge (+50% evasion of attacks), but is usable every 5 minutes.

Sword Specialization: Similar to Double Attack, but only works with swords.

Dual Wield: Not unique to Rogues in the game, but still nice. DW in WoW does not increase the delay between attacks. Instead, your off-hand weapon just does 1/2 damage. That makes it a well balanced, consistent 50% increase in damage output.

There's more, but you get the idea. I'm sure the other job classes have nice abilities too, but this is the type of stuff I've wanted to do with THF. I can actually use strategy when playing. Example: quest to kill an enemy troll leader.

Stealth past the meaningless mobs wandering outside. Get behind one of 2 guards near the leader. At the right moment, Backstab him, then a few other combat abilities to finish him off fast, then stealth again without the others linking. Get behind the other guard, Sap him (he's incapacitated for the next 25 seconds). The leader aggros, so I engage him. Gouge > Backstab. Do a few more combat abilities. The other guard wakes up and comes after me too. Pop Evasion. Finish off the leader. Target the remaining guard and easily finish him off. Stealth again, then jump off the side of the building; run to the water and swim away undetected.

Yeah, I'm geeking out over this stuff, but it's so damn fun.
 
Yeah, every job in WoW has so many fun toys at their disposal compared to FFXI where you have so few things you can do and can't even think about soloing. Like right now I'm levelling paladin with a mage. My pally is prot spec, so I'll round up like 8-10 mobs (and these are all at least my level if not higher) and I'll sit there taking a "pounding" (they barely hurt me) while dropping Consecrate (an AoE dmg thing) and using an aura that makes enemies take damage any time they hit me. Meanwhile the mage is dropping AoE spells on them all so we're killing 8-10 xp mobs in about 30 seconds with minimal downtime.

Wow, or should I say, "WoW." That's got to be some good XP. Megan and I will need to find a strategy for her Mage and my Rogue to work together.
 
So wondering, if I had a get-together weekend kinda thing at my place...

Me and uh.. idk. Like Will said, September might be cool. I'm going away for a long weekend at the end of this month. Next month I'm heading up Memorial Day weekend to Sylvan Beach in upstate NY and then of course, June for the Virginia Beach trip.

I'll probably need time to make some money again, lol.
 
All our vacation money is going towards Disney this year. So unless we can find some way to go there and still make money somehow in the process, it's probably a no go. :/

The hotel we're staying at is offering a special group rate of $157 a night if you book before May 28 (must mention you're part of Virginia Podiatry group, not sure if we can pull it off but it's worth a try). Regular rates are $215 a night. This is an all-suite hotel with a private stretch of beach. Their website is here.

In addition to the beach, there's a bunch of neat stuff nearby. First Landing State Park is right next to the hotel, and is the most popular park in the state. There's also a boardwalk and aquarium not too far from the hotel. A little farther out in Williamsburg is Busch Gardens Europe, which IMO is one of the best theme parks in the country.

Seriously, you guys post too much. Post whores. Though I did skim through pretty much this entire thread this morning. I couldn't sleep :(

Sucks though, probably won't be able to make that if only because it's 1000 miles away, literally. Fairly sure that's the week my mom goes to Florida, too, and if it really is I'll be babysitting my sister and dogs. I'll find out!
