Megan and I have been having computer issues lately. Mine freezes at random times, hers has graphics glitches (miscolored pixels, blocks and/or bars, etc). I'm thinking that it's because we installed WoW and DirectX 9.0c while still having older video cards (GeForce FX 6000 series).
After a review of what we have and some literature about what's new in PC's, I've determined that we just need to scrap our systems and start from scratch. Since that's not possible atm, I just ordered us each new graphics cards, lol. I placed an order for two Radeon X1650 PRO cards with 512 MB GDDR2 and 128 bit bandwidth with AGP 8x interface. Hopefully, that will solve the issues.
What sucks is that this is just a temporary fix. We'll probably have to just get new systems in another 2 years, and I'll have to ditch these video cards at that time. I'd prefer to just do a total upgrade now, but we are just beginning to see some light at the end of our debt tunnel. Going from school to residency to buying a house really sunk us into a hole. But when we do get new systems, I want to go all out. I'll even buy a legal copy of Windows, lol.
