HOLY CRAP (update details)

Would I spend that much on an item when there is a rare/ex alternative? I seriously doubt it.

But that's just it. There WASN'T an alternative when he bought it. Sure, it's incredibly bad luck on his part that he gets one and the next week there suddenly is a r/e alternative. This is the same thing that happened with the exp cut. The people who were already lvl 75 whined about their "lost exp" (which is another subject entirely that I don't want to clutter this topic with). S-E is trying to improve the game for the masses. You should be happy with these new items, not scorn them because you already had one.

Depending on what they do with the archers rings, I can see the price of snipers increasing. The gilsellers provide a pretty steady stream of archers rings so that the crafters can synth snipers. If that stream gets interupted.....

Yeah, i was thinking about this myself... so the crafters are going to have to camp for their materials? Priceless. No really i mean it, its going to go through the roof if they have to spend a ton of time camping/counter-camping for their materials.

Unless they make the new ring a Replacement ingrediant in the recipe for a snippers. There quite a few recipies with EX ingredients that make Tradeable items. There are also quite a few items that have more than 1 recipe.

posting...........so................fast............... if i comprehended what was already stated then i can camp Leaping Lizzy get the R/E boots she drops and sell my Leaping boots for gilorz?? i love it ^^

Lets hope some of the recipies they are adding are a few different ways to get Snipers rings.

...And a new way to teh teh Penitents Rope/ Elemental Torque would be nice too^^. S-E can you hear me?~

Sure you can. Thing is, for probably *quite* a while after this update, you won't be the only one with that clever idea, so you'll have quite a bit of competition.

im very good at camping lizzy ....when i was lvl 30 i was 1/26 on her lol (took me 1 week to get a drop) currently im 1/33 on her (need money for war gloves+1) competition isnt a problem for me with big spawn area NM's i usually react faster then the kid who sees LL on widescan and has a heart-attack while im already fleeing to Lizzy

Except that if they do it this way, then they have essentially done nothing. Archers are camped because they are the main ingrediant for snipers. Why even bother replacing archers if the replacement is also now the sniper ingrediant?

That way the crafter has to camp the Archers Ring.

Hooray for Leathercrafting mules.

I really wanna know how the ninja update is gonna effect us ninjas. The enmity thing I hope won't be so dramatic that we can't hold hate w/ thf, enmity gear, and ninja tool spams. SE wouldn't eliminate us as a tanking class would they? If that is the case it looks like im gonna have to level blm to sub.

It's economics my dear forumer. If you are satisfied with your purchase at the point of buying, then the whole idea of yours is down to the drain. This happens not only in games, but also in real life. Boy do I remember spending over $300 on PS2 and suddenly it's like what $200 now? lol. I could've used $100 to buy something else, but hey, that's LIFE.

You means suddenly as in 5 years later? I think this is a very poor example to use. Regardless of however much a PS2 costs, you still have to pay money for it. This how it was with the Peacock charm -- the price did change, it just didn't go down, it went up. Now that PS2's are something like $150 now (?), is there a rare/ex PS2 that you can get for free, other than your time camping the store clerk nm, that you can never sell or trade to anyone where you are the only person that can play games on it? No.

If you're going to talk about economics, you need to realize that with your PS2 example, the "newer" PS2's are not forever bound to one person. The rare/ex PS2's can never enter the market.

EXACTLY. There WASN'T an alternative, so it WAS worth it one week ago. Now that there is an alternative, the market value will most likely go down. That's how markets work. If there's a consumer good that has a monopoly, people will pay more and more for it due to limited supply and high demand, but once an alternative good is introduced that is of equal value, people will be able to pay less due to competition. While there is/was no Peacock Charm manufacturer (other than Argus), the "monopoly" it created on its own market drove the price up.

You guys are arguing that he shouldn't be complaining because his item will go down in value when there was no alternative -- I know for a fact that all of you would be complaining if you were in the same situation. Nobody wants to lose value on a 20mil item that WAS going up in value. You guys are using post-patch arguments as to why he shouldn't have paid that much for his item, when he bought his item pre-patch.

Sorry but masamura is right. At the buying period, your willingness to pay is by that amount and hence why do you cry when such things happen. The loss is considered as a Sunk Cost and shouldn't influence anything.
