NIN/BLM...
This video is a 41 NIN/BLM

The beetle cons T to him. Looks like a relatively easy solo for 150 XP.
His gear isn't amazing, but good.

I think I am going to solo NIN after 37 or 40 with BLM sub after seeing this. I've wanted to get away from a party formation when possible, because of my own time constraints. (I have 1 time per week to level, but I have probably 3-5 times in the week where I can get 15-60 minutes of play). It would seem that with this setup, I could solo for quite a while.

/smile

Well it would definetly be a more expensive way of exp'ing but apparently very doable. The key would be mob selection though. High aggro areas with multiple wandering mobs would probably = death. As well as slower hitting mobs would be key. Mandys would shred your shadows quickly. The ability to get in deep someplaces and just warp yourself out when your done would be very nice.

You've inspired me or I guess I should say that the video has.

Exactly, but this is all stuff NIN/anything should be concerned with.

I just like it because it sounds like (at least for 10-15 levels) I should be able to solo. And I can do it 30 minutes at a time, if that's what I have to work with.

Yeah probably would need some hp regen drink, stat boosting food (what stat helps ninjas magical attacks? wisdom?), and all your stacks of ingrediants for your spells and you'd be set. I would think you could probably get to 75 this way if you were dedicated to this approach. During all the money farming trips you'd need to do you could try to figure out where your next best leveling area would be.

Edit: In a lot of ways that is the hard part about leveling Bst is finding that perfect area in which there is a good supply of the right mix of conned mobs.

Edit2: I just watched the video again and it apperas that INT is used for Ninja magics. Hmmm very interesting. I guess with this build you would want as much +int and +agi gear as possible.

But unlike Bst you will have a lot less inventory space. /nod

Crap now I am interested in leveling Blm just for this but I hate playing a non melee class.

Wounder how that would work out in a party... what role would it play, DD? Might take away aggro if the player deals that much damage, but then again, who cares if he steals aggro. And if it does steals too much aggro, is it enough to hold it and tank?

For 37 and up NIN, I'd say he could tank it while the "tank" gets hate back....Could be cool to go nuke crazy if need be, and not worry too much about taking hate and getting killed.

I'm definitely interested enough to try it out. I doubt I'll party with it though. I'd solo almost everything if I could. Aside from spending time with Jen <3, and good friends, I don't really find a need to be in a group. Especially as one that is usually leader, I could use some time not having to worry about all that crap.

Well for party play unless you were going nuke crazy every fight most people would call you gimp. I'm sure Blm/Wtm probably could nuke for more than a nin/blm and a Nin/thf or nin/war could melee for more than a nin/blm. The upside would be hardly no downtime because all your nukes wouldn't effect your mp.

Red mage would go nice with that.

Mostly overkill I think...NIN spells focus on enfeebling as well.

RDM/NIN rocks, but I dunno if I agree with it the other way around nearly as much.

BLM will have more direct damage spells, a bit more MP and INT, and NIN can weaken the MOB to a certain element(s) and then nuke with that spell.

Ninjitsu doesn't affect MP, but nukes do.

In the video he was using all elemental ninjitsus correct? That is what I meant by "nuking".

Yeah in that case, nukes don't take MP. I couldn't tell because I'm at work and just had the video running in a little corner of my screen. Hehee.

NM, I just watched it again. You're right. Sweeeeeeet!!!!
:D

Mobs conned VT and IT to me. ^^

After toying around with nin/blm, I can see it having a great role in a party as well, the night before I partied with 3 people and we were chaining #5 on IT+ mobs... you heard right, with 3 people. The nukes were enough to hold hate off an SATA viper bite, and from what it seems, NIN/BLM is the equivalent of a mage as MNK is to melee... damage over time. 1 full unresisted cycle of ni spells on an IT+ averages about 660 dmg, which takes about 15 seconds to cycle through, with haste on, you can keep the cycle going almost nonstop, with a brief stop in between cycles.

Using it to it's fullest potential is difficult, but you can maximize the damage output even more with timing. Let's say you're doing distortion chain, if you start the cycle with Ice (Hyoton), and end with Wind (Huton) then the chain will be less likely to be resisted and do more damage because the mob is now weakened to ice. Also, following up a ni elemental with a katana WS of the weak element almost doubles its damage. I was doing 200 dmg Blade:To following Huton, and then bursting Hyoton for 150 in addition to a sick skillchain.

The only reason this isn't exactly the most practical job combo is the cost... and yes, it is extremely expensive (cost me about 100k for ninja tools for about 8 hours of levelling or so).

AWESOME!
I was wondering if you were working on this.

I leveled NIN just a bit last night, but I am excited to keep going and get to 40 to start trying this. What level was your NIN and BLM in this example?

This was at 40NIN/20BLM, i'm good on subjob until 68, my blm is 34 ;-;

I'm now 44 @4000 to 45 XD... it's only been like 2 days.

And most of it was solo, or messing around with a couple people, but it was awesome XP the whole way... just my wallet is crying a bit ;-;. It is hella fun though. If I was wearing my full nuking gear and not evasion boosting items and food I could probably clear 130 dmg, 140+ with burn support from a BLM...

And all these pts keep turning me down!!! Funny to see the same dudes looking for pts become 2 levels behind you in only a few hours and laugh at them as you steal their mobs XD

I'm probably going to stop at some point to let my money stop getting eaten up... if you get to like... 50 with nin/blm give me a call and we could static duo to 75!! BAHAHAHAA.

Oh and one more thing... I ended up shelling out the dough for gobbie bag VI... it really is taxing on your bag, this combo ._.;

All good info, Svina.
Thanks for all the feedback.

It'll still take me a while to get to 40 NIN and 20+ BLM at this point, but when I do, and then get to 50, if you are still at 50 I'd be up for duo NIN nuking. hehe.
