How do you get this Uber Body Piece?!?! (side story)

I agree with Shaun on this one, well kind of. Its not a bad peice for monk but Itd be better to work towards a SH imo. Cause when its "Set: Enhances "Subtle Blow" Effect" to get that your talkin 100k AP now which would take a considerable more amount of time to get. And if the mnk only want the body then Sub Blow is out of the equation and now its just +10 acc to +10 acc. I say get 16k AP for 2 chiv. chains and sell thoes both for a total of what like 4mil or whatever they are at. Then just sell some old stuff, farm do a bcnm or w/e and get a SH. Then youll have your +10 acc for 18 lvls instead of three and a nice peice of equip you can use on other jobs or sell for some gil whne you get your togi.
SH is lower level, but in terms of damage dealing, the Pahluwan Khazagand is unquestionably better. The only thing SH does for damage is 10 accuracy, whereas the Pahluwan Khazagand is 10 accuracy and increased critical hit rates; subtle blow isn't the main concern, damage is. Now, the SH would be used at a lower level, true, but this wasn't about if you could buy only one which would you get, the discussion was on how the Pahluwan Khazagand is a good body piece for monk.

Opps i didnt even see the Increased Crit my bad lol.

Those of you that are saying the crits are only 1%, you have no relevance really.

1% > 0%

Well it began with me saying that it is not a good body piece for a MNK. I don't think it is. For a THF or a COR it would be nice because of the +RACC. What does a MNK need that for though? Also to get the subtle blow affect you need the set. Why would you gimp yourself as a MNK by wearing that set when there are other pieces that you can wear that are better?

Did you even notice the +Critical hits on the Pahluwan body? Forget the subtle blow. You're basically calling critical hits gimped...

As a SAM I am saving so I can get my hands on a Brynie. To me that is the ultimate armor for a SAM to have until level 70. Stack that with the ouch kotes/AF gloves and that is a nice setup for a SAM.

lol...

Byrnie < Haubergeon < Haubergeon+1 < Byrnie+1

http://decidence.co.nr/ Deci has tested all four, check his WS Examples section.

I've seen 4 parses of this piece and the lower level new piece that increases crit hits, the highest any of them increased crits by was about 0.4%, the worst was a drop of just over 1.2%. We're not saying it's a tiny boost, we're saying it's broken, and gives no boost.

Ok, well his SAM is 37. Last I checked Brynie is level 60 so how did he parse this? Sure for NIN Hauby might be better, I will still get a brynie at 60 though and love it.

Last time I checked, only two items in the entire game (some shield nobody uses, and Shigeto Bow) have additional effects based on job selection.

Byrnie isn't one of them.

By the way, Deci did his tests with Blade:Jin which has 30% STR and 30% DEX secondary modifiers and hits three times.

A Samurai is going to be using one-hit WS that have 75% STR modifiers... probably with Sneak Attack.

Do you REALLY SERIOUSLY HONESTLY think that a Byrnie will outperform a Haubergeon for a SAM?

deci notes in his figures that accuracy isn't taken into account.

I mentioned the multiple hits vs sneak attack not because of accuracy, but because the Attack will count significantly more on a multiple hit WS than single.

That is an awesome website. I feel smart just trying to figure out what all those numbers mean D:

is the context ws only?

Yes. If you aren't talking about WS, the accuracy on the Hauby is that much more significant...

That's another thing... I don't even plan on subbing THF until 65. I will go longer without subbing THF if the party setup doesn't require it.

Deci is a NIN, not a SAM. While his parses are great for NIN, I won't follow that lead for SAM.

this is more support for using haub pre /thf. i thought you were arguing for brynie...

Ok, when I level SAM I always have TP and I don't even have my Peacock Charm that I want so bad yet. With my current gear as a 57 SAM I miss once out of about every 7 hits. +ACC is good, but I feel most people go way over board on it. There is no reason to have +40 ACC on your gear. If you need that much +ACC to hit the mob you are probably too low to be fighting it. I like the +ATK build and I don't mind using Sole Sushi +1 on my SAM, infact that is all I use when I level SAM. Then I judge it by replacing my current +ACC gear with +ATK gear on the mobs we are fighting. If I start to miss too much for my liking I put more +ACC gear on. Hell just from the ouch kotes and the brynie though I would get +40 ATK. I have a life belt and a swordbelt +1 that I switch between. I also have fed. tekko, snipers ring, Gi, and my GK have +ACC on them. My build that I want is Emp pin/valk mask, Brynie, Amamet mantle, peacock charm/amulet, ouch kotes/AF gloves, life/sword+1 belt, snipers/+STR rings, pant's I'm not sure about yet, winged+1/AF boots. I figure when I get all of that I'll be good until 70 when I can start working on all the gear that I will keep until the end of the server. Anyone who says it's gimp.../laugh at <you>

So your WS will magically follow different rules than his... uh huh... yes, because the damage formulas apply differently to you for some reason.

You're right on the verge of fighting Toramas on your Samurai. Those tend to need a sizable chunk of extra accuracy compared to most other mobs.

Hell, look at it this way.

Haubergeon + Life Belt = 5 STR, 5 DEX, 12 att, 22 acc in two slots. Good in many situations. Life saver against Torama.

Byrnie + Swordbelt+1 = 3 STR, -3 DEX, 32 att, "-1" acc in those two slots. Good against VT range mobs where you don't need as much acc to hit... but you lose a little STR too.

Byrnie + Life Belt = 3 STR, -3 DEX, 20 att, 9 acc in those two slots, compare to

Haubergeon + Swordbelt+1 = 5 STR, 5 DEX, 24 att, 10 acc in those two slots.

BAM SHAZAM, we have a clear winner out of those four combinations. Ruh roh...

Because that is the only place to level...right. Also your "computations" don't even add up properly. Listen, DRG, no matter what you say I'm going to get the gear I want. So just drop it with your half-witted commentary.

Maybe because ninja and sam aren't the same job, and the complementary gear won't be the same? How much acc, attack, STR, haste, food, merits, and the enemy all factor into which is "best." If you think that what he uses is best for you, go ahead and run around as a sam with fumas, byakko's haidate, and suppa.

As BST I'd prefer to run around in a Byrnie over a Hauby, when I get levels and more gil I'll parse it, but the reason being that the mobs I fight do not require alot of accuracy as I dont fight anything larger than VT and already have a good acc setup. My ideal setup for meleeing @60 as far ass attk and acc gear goes would be Byrnie, Woodmans Ring x2, Life Belt, PCA, Spike Earring, Assault Earring, 55 Breeches, Valkyries Mask. So I would be sitting on about attk +40 and acc+33 before any food, which can compliment either one. Right now my acc setup is PCA, Woodmans Ring (working on the second ._.), Life Belt and Viking Axe (unless subbed offhand as /nin Id use Wrath Tabar) which is 35 acc and I don't whiff very often and i usually get tp over 100% while duoing unless we are killing very very fast.

Point being that one gear setup is not optimal for every job. Now you may say why not go for Sworbelt+1 and Hauby setup, which I think looks very good as well, if anything I'd straight stack attk, see how it effects my acc, try different foods and then decide what is best. And I generally use attk food when I am using food....because a BST can be lazy like that sometimes, which pretty much makes either setup fairly close to a moot point. Byrnie looks funny on tarus, and thats the most important factor, because this is pixels we are talking about, and pixels are serious business.

How do my computations add up wrong? No, really, please point out the error.

I'm not telling you Byrnie is bad, just that it isn't the "ultimate armor". I'm not telling you OMGWTF DON'T GET A BYRNIE, I'm just telling you that you were wrong about Byrnie being WTFULTIMATE.

So... just drop it with your half-witted bullshit about which gear is best. Especially now that you're using my main job against me, which is beyond pathetic.

Maybe because ninja and sam aren't the same job, and the complementary gear won't be the same? How much acc, attack, STR, haste, food, merits, and the enemy all factor into which is "best." Okay, look. NIN and SAM may be two different jobs, but, with few exceptions, the same gear will tend to show the same results across multiple jobs. In the case of NIN vs SAM WS, SAM benefits even more from the added STR of the Haubergeon over the Byrnie... and less from the added Attack of the Byrnie... during weapon skills. Can you deny this? Can you honestly say this statement is incorrect? The attack will be counted once, not thrice, and STR factors into yuki/kasha/gekko more than twice as much as jin.
