How do you make your gil?

ige.com and my visa.... i kid , mainly bcnm and gods now since farming in zitah seems to be a real joke lately.

Canandia, the "O" in your sig means china. for the record. also sorry for fallin asleep on you for shiva. i decided to quit when i woke up.

There are some who level because level=opportunity for more gil and better equipment secondary to leveling. There are people who don't level because gear=prerequisite for leveling. In the middle are most people, who neither constantly level up without improving their gear, nor anally upgrade to the best every level before moving on or buy their entire career equipment set before dinging 15.

Level brings great gil-making opportunities in and of itself, just like crafting does, so it's unrealistic for people to force players to put so much emphasis on gear if said player can indeed level first and make gil later when they are more capable. Do they look mediocre on the way to 70? Who cares so long as they're not failing competency standards of xp'ing?

I used to be a thief on the cutting edge. I stopped and leveled cloth to 80 before my thief hit 50. I remember unlocking TH2 just as I was going through wool. I farmed my own wool. It was hell at that level to fund woolworking. But what do I do at L74 if I need wool? I go to lufaise and whip giants to desynth their socks that drop every other kill.

To some, high level is an asset and not an end. Why must it be an end? Why must you be forced to earn gil at a lesser potential (lower level)? To be stuck earning gil at level 24 is the same as to be stuck at 75 with no impressive gear. Neither have much to talk about. The former has no clue as to the real nature of endgame play, and the latter has no game capital.

The former is akin to a mechanic who works hard 7 days a week, but who can't earn much. The latter is akin to a bookworm who has studied for 8 years but who has done nothing but invest in their earning potential. One's poorly rich. The other is richly poor.

Forgot where I was ultimately going with this...the guy's clearly an ass, so this long post doesn't really apply to him. It's just that high level is no different from a high craft. To some it's potential. It's investment. That's the path I took. Get up there first, then fill it out later. Now I did ok and I would hope to think above average along the way. I farmed my way to 60 cloth largely out in the field farming. Let me tell you, wool road SUCKED as a L40 thief, and it wasn't much prettier when I hit 45. It would have been so much easier as a L70 thief, and I would have gotten to 70 thief much faster if I didn't level cloth first. Would I be better equipped if I hadn't leveled cloth then? I dunno. I would have been 74 longer, and thus I might have had more gil in the end.

But for your average person who neither knows how to use their craft OR their level, the argument doesn't apply. They expected L70 to throw gil at them. Doesn't work like that.

25/45-50 on Leaping Lizzy. 2/2 on Valkurm Emperor, 6/170 Stroper Chyme, 2/2 Hoo Mjuu the Torrent, 10+ Stacks of Tree Cuttings, about 15 Stacks of Gold Beastcoins, desynthing tons of Goblin Helmets/Mail, desynthing tons of Quadav Backplates, 2/3 on Valkyrie's Mask, 30KS for 50/50 on V Claw. And don't forget all those random items you get farming and screwing around.

That's just about all the money I've ever made since I started.

Stock exchange, but I make my money for that from Manthrawhoring.

Im one of the few people in this game who isnt interested in making gil. *Gasp* Anyone who has examined me in my full rdm gear knows my gear just tottaly SUCKS. I do have crappy gear and I admit it. But im not going to spend hours upon hours farming or crafting just so I can have a piece of armor that gives me +3 MND instead of +2. Im sorry to anyone who has ever told me that I should spent my time killing the same thing over and over or crafting stuff on hours on end and I responded with: "Thats not fun so I wont do it." Thats my playing style, if its not fun i will not do it. Farming int fun, crafting is boring as hell and BCNMs and Stuff I dont have enough time to do. Btw I dont suck in PTs, ask anyone who has PTed with me, my gear rarely affects me. What im trying to say is, although there are people obssed with gil, there are others like me who would rather buy useless things and make gil like every month or so.

Some jobs need the better gear that alone costs tons - :cough: Elvaan DRK acc+

...but yea, Chpal has a point. If your job/race match better than some - you really don't have to go all crazy on incredible gear. Chpal is an awesome rdm.

Example:
Galka whm need Astral rings. Tarutaru whm don't.

Tarutaru rdm need mnd rings cause of their weak mind or else they get their paralyze or slow resisted.

and i do have that Flame, and I ahve a wand MND+6 and INT+6 and I have food that adds MND. I have a lot of MND+. I dont need to waste millions on gil for armor that add as much MND as food will. Not worth it in my mind.

Or they sub whm and can get away with cheap mnd rings.

Gardening ftw! lazy woman's/man's way to make gil XD Though I do actually enjoy crafting. Not hours on end like many others I know but every now and then it's relaxing to sit there and craft. HNM hunting is fine and all but I do that more for the fun of the fight than gil. And I don't care if you buy gil.. just don't brag about anything you have cause it's nothing worth bragging.

To the OP:

Does it really hurt you that much that someone accuses you of buying gil? Hell, I'd see that as a compliment if anything. You really shouldn't give a fuck if someone calls you a gil buyer anyway. You know you don't buy gil, right? That's all that should matter, unless you've got a *cough* guilty conscience.

I whore myself to the female GMs..

/praise Audino

I used to mine, log, fish, etc. You name it I did it. For the last 10 levels it's been BCNM's for gil. I form my team with friends I know are good, and I haven't lost a single BC fight in a long, long time. Eventually the seals will dry up, then it's back to smithing, goldsmithing and woodworking. But I don't go out and farm for a month straight, I do it in small periods to make it tolerable.

My point is, yes I spent a lot of time doing stuff that wasn't exactly fun. But I figure you are only at a given level once, so why not make the best of it. I don't mind that many people who started the game long after me have hit lv 75 on one job and are working on the next. I only mind it when they are in my party and either have crap gear (I don't mean less than the best, I mean lv 70 blm still with eremite's rings) or were too busy leveling to learn how to do their job properly.

I haven't met anyone who was hostile about equipment like you have Audino. I think that's a rare event. Just let it go, keep having fun, and remember my words:

Meeting some people is like stepping in dog shit. It's unpleasent at the time, but unimportant in the big picture. Just wipe your shoe off and move on.

Mining Sucks >.< and it makes it worse when ur mining a spot and someone comes and mines next to you. But now ive realized maybe i need to try and find a pty again. (the last few pts turned me down because i dont have a Nice Belt or an Elemental Torque) Its like... Im trying to get them, but they are SOOOOOOOOO $$$ its like im trying to get them but dang ya know? Its so aggrivating ...Grr maybe the monkey gods will bring us good Gill Making Tips... Happy Travels

Be very, very glad you chose Red Mage, because this shit doesn't fly with any melee job. It's not like RDM is an expensive job anyway, you can basically wear AF or RSE2 in every slot all the way to endgame and be fine.

To put it in more relative terms, my girlfriend (Mithra RDM) charted out the net worth of her gear to get to 75 and it's about 9 million - over 6 million of that being a Jungle Stone and a pair of River Gaiters. Considering that your Steppe Stone is only ~500k and you don't use the 60's RSE feet, that means a full set of RDM gear (Staves, MND/INT/MP rings, Enfeeb Torque etc) is going to be just slightly over 3 million gil. Compared to the average melee (or hell, other mage jobs) that's nothing.

But it's not like this matters, you can just keep eating your 1k Goblin Mushpots and wear your dollar store gear and still head out to PT while the melees craft or farm with their flags up so they can afford that piece of gear that costs more than your entire setup and their food that costs 20 times as much as yours for the same length of time.

You say those things aren't fun? Maybe someday a leader will boot you saying partying with people who don't want to put some dedication in their gear 'isn't fun.' But I won't hold my breath, since RDMs know they can do whatever the fuck they want.

I think that a lot of this gear is craptastically over priced. That's why I wanna finally get Promies done cause I wanna hunt my own Astral Earring and plan to do some ENMs with friends to get enfeebling earrings, planning LS events to get things done that drop good gear for me as well as members in the LS. I would really like the HQ staves but I think I'll just have to buckle down and work my ass at getting gil to pay for them which is fine by me. Zenith/Crimson are things I'd love but I'll have to wait my time on them (really the only Zenith I need are the mitts and maybe the legs and the only Crimson I need is the mask) on them cause of the windows of opportunity because of Sky times or because of HNM times. And I generally don't pay too much for the cursed gear cause I use my points to get the expensive item I need that drops outta sky to make it. I can prolly get the best of the best RDM gear with some time (that's if I can make time with school starting on monday) and a little patience. (Time = points so it's all really time mostly) Then again.. I just kinda get lucky when it comes to the LS I chose for tha purpose and got lucky enough to have the patience to camp a NM if I want the item. I will camp any NM but I will only camp ones I can solo with ease if I want to make use out of the item. And for melee.. well.. I think most melee could do the same really. But ya.. on my way up from 1-75 as a RDM I worked as hard as I could with the time I had in BCNMs, NM hunting, and farming to get what gil I could to put together decent armor. Getting the most MP, enfeebling magic, INT and MND I could with what I have. It's all really how the player wants to do things. I wanna get the best gear I can and max out the best merits I can so I am that much more beneficial to my group. And I have fun doing that kinda thing but I understand that some don't want the best they just wanna have fun in general which is fine to me.. cause I see exp (no matter how slow as long as I can't do better solo-ing) parties that don't get the best exp an hour as better than me sitting in jeuno not getting any. But, I dunno.. that's just me.

Poor, poor people thinking Goblin Grenade is a good substitute for Bomb Core..

Actually the +1 str would help out on Weaponskills more than Bomb Core. It would be minimal, and the DoT from Bomb Core would more than make up for it, but maybe that's what they're seeing.

Switch in gear for ws, {Do you need it?}
