How do you rent your games?

Makes sense. Stinks kids have to go ruin it for us. I remember when mortal kombat trilogy for ps1 came out and movie gallery (video world at the time) had one copy of it and someone rented it and never returned it. For months it was rented out and my brother asked what happened to it and they said it was never returned. I was so disappointed and I was dying to play that game at the time. Now today they make us use credit cards, which I can understand but it is still annoying that kids have to ruin it for people like myself and others who actually DO return the games.

Yeah I agree...I think it is why they don't keep as big of a stock in thier inventory anymore. They just constantlylost money on the gimp assholes who thought they were getting a deal by never coming back.

Hollywood Video, however - seems to have a nice selection - you might want to see if you have one near your house :) They even let you pay off any late fees in $2 incriments.

I usually rent my games, I'll only buy em if they are extrememly good, usually just my series favorites - FF, KH, Zelda, Samus games, etc.

That being said, I had Gamefly for a few months, and yeah, if they were a halfway competent company the 20+ a month is totally worth it. But Gamefly is probably the worst customer service I've ever had in my entire life. The games always took at least a week to get to my house, several times I never even recieved games, alot of games I did recieve were scratched and unable to play...the list goes on, it was just one problem after another with those people. I would never recommend Gamefly to someone I didn't hate.

EDIT: The one good thing about em is they have the biggest library of any place I've ever seen. If you want a game they have it, as long as it's for one of the systems they have available.

I usualy rent before i buy. Except in the case where i know the game will be good, like a SE game or a franchise game.

I've always wondered how good those online rental things were, like Gamefly.

Gamefly is opening a new distribution center on the east coast, which they're beginning to integrate into their system. It should reduce that heavy lag between titles once they get it up to speed.

I had over 400 hundred rentals from Blockbuster. Mostly video games. Haven't rented since N64 maybe 1 or 2 Cube games. Hollywood Video sucks for game selections for me, and usually get things 3 months late.

I don't understand the people who don't understand renting games. It's the same concept as Dvd's. You rent movies to see if you like them enough to buy, and they only cost $15-$20 per dvd to own. I cannot imagine that you BUY every $50 game that you want to try out. I have played so many games that are crap (and BOUGHT a few expensive games that I thought I would like, and DID NOT - I loved Dark Cloud #1, but #2 blew ass....that was $50 I could have spent on....well, a LOT of things. (and don't give me the "You can resell them" crap. You get MAYBE $15 (if you are lucky) for a brand new game that you just bought for $50. You could have only played the game once for 20 minutes - but the fact that it is out of the wrapper makes it depreciate by a TON.

If you all have random $ to waste, rock on. I have no problem with that... Or if you are the kind of gamer who only sticks w/ what they know they are going to like - sweet. I respect anyone's game choices, but some of us like to try all kinds of different games to see if we will like them or not. I never would have thought that I would have liked the game GLADIUS - but I got hooked upon renting it one rainy day then went and bought it once I returned it. I have started and finished the game probably 3 different times, because if I wait long enough for it to be fresh again...it ROCKS to start over. But, I tried it first. And it was a game I never would have just up and bought on a whim for $50. I don't think this makes me less of a gamer, and I don't think NEVER renting games makes you any more of a gamer.

The kid asked where he should rent, not whether or not it's a stupid idea.

Gladius fucking was AMAZING. I saw it at Blockbuster one time and I rented it. OMFG Gladius is just a damn good RPG.
