How To Make a Good Party: A compilation of notes...

Nope, it isn't anything to really complain about but thats now how much Xp we were getting per hour. We got 2.2k in the first 30mins then 3.5 in the next hour. Under 5k I will whine a little about how I think we can do better and suggest some alternatives to making the party better... under 4k I get bored and lose interest.
The only problem is my suggestions are usually critisisms towards whats going wrong, not how to fix the problem because to me, the "fix" is common sense (such as kick a couple people to close the level gap and increase damage by recruiting other people). Other people dont see the "fix" though and just say Im whining or complaining, or dont want to be the asshole that kicks someone from their party.

If this, (in bold) is truely the case, then maybe the problem in your boring parties is indeed YOU. If it is YOU who gets bored then maybe it is YOU who has the problem. I know alot of people who can play and have fun with 2-3k per hour. Seriously man no-one is at fault in this situation but you. If everyone else is fine and is having fun and can live with the 4k per hour then you should deal with it or move along.

Ok for the bold, I agree wholehardedly. It's fricking boring being in slow pt's. The only time I have fun is when some idiot puller gets a link and then the pt's all going "holy shit holy shit, sleep it!" Then I just decide to send the link a flash, the main mob a voke and keep myself alive until our blm can sleep II on it. It's fun dealing with the chaos and keeping a cool head because otherwise the pt is DULL as hell. Blaming Deci on being at fault in slow pt's is bullshit. If everyone else is fine and having fun in a party thats going 3k per hour then something is very wrong and I would most likely never want to party with those people. It just screams out n00b when someone goes "this exp rocks!" in a 3k/hour party. I have to keep myself from laughing. A party like this just feels like a skill up party without the skill ups.

Lets keep this from getting into specific flames and instead try to focus on forming good parties and keeping away from the crappy parties.

I thought I already explained this to you... hooked on phonics?

I used to be that way about 4k an hour parties. I stuck through the occasional 3.5k if there was a damned good reason, but generally kept it at 4k. Well when I hit about 55, that ALL changed. 4k is a bunch of shit if you ask me lol. I dont enjoy less than 5k and to be honest, there is no reason someone should be settling for an amount less than that. As long as you follow some of the advice given to you, or *gasp* have learned useful game mechanics over the course of 55 levels or so, you know what you need to be able to pull that off. The only thing really slowing down people are others who either have shit gear, or dont know how to play. In either case, as a job who blows gil every mob, you dont have to stay one second longer than it takes you to figure out they suck. Meeze had it right, 1 hour... 4k minimum but closer to 5k min if I am not in a great mood and want some exp...

I note the people with this attitude. Then I see their job choice.

If you dont believe it can be done then it wont be done... you gotta keep trying and actually put effort into assembling a good party. Summoners can easily be in 6-7k per hour parties, it just depends how much effort you put into forming the PT and the guidelines that you follow.

Yes, that's certainly the case. But it's a matter of either building the party yourself or getting into a good one, and both of those are quite difficult when you're not one of the key pieces.

As my MNK, I'm normally (80-90% of the time) the 5th or 6th member. My average wait time nowadays is 2-3 hours plus, even if I'm trying to form the thing myself (which doesn't happen often, as RNGs and WHMs don't seem to take kindly MNK invites.) When I go out, get into that group, and they're only pulling in 2.5-3k/hr, it is very, very difficult for me to just ditch the party and head back to Jeuno because there's an excellent chance it's the only invite I get in a given day.

When you get more invites as a whole, not because of who you are, but WHAT you are, it gets more and more difficult to reject the lesser parties simply because you're taking the risk of crapping out and ending the day with nothing.

Ok I'm seeing alot of HUGE numbers lately. I want to know whats the most xp you can get per hour. I"ve seen 9k 10k 15k is all of this really possible. I mean really per hour and not 1.5 or any kinda rounding and all that.

I've seen 5-7k myself and I believe that. But when people start getting into the double digets I have to wonder about these numbers myself. Not doubting or anything but since alot of you good players are here now, I'd like to hear about that.

Maybe you can get 15k exp in 1 hour but it might be during the best stretch of a monk cannon in KRT or a ranger cannon in ro'maeve

I want to see the numbers of someone actuallying averaging 15k/hr for at least 3 hours, frankly I dont see it happening

I have no idea what your talking about. I dont visit any other FF boards. I'm just saying that it may be possible to get 15k in one hour during an incredibly good run of a monk cannon in KRT

On a positive note except for food and time you aren't wasting anything. RNG and NIN in subpar party might be better off back in Jeuno. After all ninja tools lost = money lost = time have to spend getting gil. You might spend as much money in total on harness and snipers, ext ext but little pieces of them aren't falling off during an exp session. I am definetly myself more accepting of a poor party on a job like that because, let's face it, they can replace me and continue on getting crap exp with a replacement who's crappy like them... but if I come along for the ride I'm getting some exp at no loss really.

Til a couple Rng and Nin offer my Smn a static invite that will miraculously always be online and waiting for me... I'm gonna seek and if the party is moving I'll stay along. Nin and Rng have the choice, and it's a damn good thing they do... because bad exp really hurts their wallet.

Ive been a PT thats brought in 8k and we were getting up to Chain 7 in KRT. I dont know how much higher you can get then that, it seemed almost as fast as possible. The mob wouldn't last more then 20 seconds in camp, and a new mob was right behind.

wow I been waiting on a board like this for a long time i agree with all of u guys methods cuz they all have there place. I just hope ppl get alittle more patient and take time to make good parties that last a long time rather than pickup parties that only last 1 hour sometimes

Well, here I am at lvl 74 PLD. I have been led to believe by a few ppl that PLDs are very limited to exp/hr after Weapons in Sky and Ro'Maeve take at dive with 74s and 75s. 80-110 exp base with lvl 74+ in the PT means you have to chain 6-7-8+ and keep it constant.

With out having BRD + RDM in a PLD pt I dont think you can pull anything past chain 5 w/o having to move. Since PLDs can't move because of MP holding them back, the most I can see me getting at this lvl is 4500-5000 exp if I'm damn lucky. Possibly someone could spread some hope for me but I just can't see it happening. Having the 6mp per tick with RDM and BRD is the only way I can hold hate effectivly with PTs like PLD, RNG, DRK, WAR, BRD, RDM, running around w/o worries of MP.

Yes, there are Aura Statues, I tried that once no good, 140-180 damage per hit isn't effective either. I don't have the most leet gear, but I would say that I hold my own against an avg PLD, and 140-180 damage per hit, 240-280 critical hits is a drain in the MP for the WHM and the PLD.

As far as our past goes Decidence I'm sorry for the PTs I have been in you with. My computer my computer ya ya ya, run on story. I have restrained myself from playing/interacting with ppl on my computer playing FFXI. I don't like to waist ppls time and mine. I have started to vaguely play FFXI all together because of my computer situation. Again my appologies to you Deci for some of the past PTs we have been in, I agree with you in ever aspect on the OP.

I feel better now. :D

The PT's I took part in with you when I was BLM were quite dissapointing yes, and thats only because you disconnected and got me killed a few times because all of a sudden I had all the hate. Your a nice person and a good player though and I appreciate the apology. I hope your computer "situation" whatever it might be can be resolved to better your experience in FFXI.
