Now I'm not one who is normally offended by minor things, but this has to stop. First Chasym's "I hacked but its cool bro" thread, now Sanoske's "I sold Gil and supported the hated RMT, but hell I'm popular so who cares, go me" thread. Is this the face of QCDN nay the entire server we want people to see? Personally it disgusts me that we even allow it right now. So I think that people who admit to doing such activities that damage the server and its reputation should be banned from these forums, no second chances, no "but it only happened once."

I understand this may be unpopular because, lets face it a lot of people here have more going on then they would like to admit to the rest of the server (at least before they quit anyhow) but honestly if we don't we are no worse then IGE itself.

On a related note, Should it be decided that any action against people like Chasym/Sanoske I think we should change the forums name to "Quetzalcoatl Daily News: Home of the Beloved Cheaters"

PS: I have nothing against either of those players as people, just there actions and the way they glorify and flaunt them.

If you haven't been else where then qcdn, the rest of the games servers have plenty of popular shells that seemed to get the same treatment when it comes to botting and it's seemed to become fairly acceptable for everyone to bot because everyone else is doing it.

Quetz was once the hidden paradise, but when discovered how easy this servers HNM competition was well as we've seen the shells that had came and gone or hopefully leaving soon.

(damn your title and the game! Damn it all!)

I have to actually agree with this. Whatever way you look at it, it's a fairly large slap in the face to the community.

Sadly, alot of people that use these boards visit areas that are non-FFXI related and it's not fair to block them from talking about new games/movies/sports etc, simply because they cheated in a game they no longer play.

Maybe just restrict there access to FFXI areas?

I don't think it has to stop. I think it's good business for the site and bring people's attention to the fact we're all human and we all do things that not everyone agrees with. If you don't like it, add them to your ignore list and / or block the posts from showing up. That's what those features are for.

No, This is first an foremost a forum for FFXI players. I hardly play myself (once every month or 2) but once a player admits to breaking such rules, I believe they should be willing to give up access to all boards. Real repercussions, not a slap on the wrist, just like if they are caught cheating in the game they choose to cheat in

I agree to an extent. But we'd only be punishing people who claim they "cheated" or went against ToS. I know it's not good to flaunt that you did something "wrong" but what about the people who did, and continue to do, without fessing up? All it's going to do is stop people coming out and telling people what they did, which I guess can be good, but then you'll never know who is in violation.

That makes sense right? ._.;

Edit: It also calls into factor the various degrees of "cheat". Flee hacking, RMT... windower? Who chooses what is right and wrong?

They broke the rules in game, which is a little vague scribble from SE. Not the forum rules. Don't punish someone for breaking the laws of another entity.

IT would be better if they didnt say anything so at the very least it doesn't glorify it. Personally I'd draw the line at where GM's would actually give a damn, but if you want to ban people who use windower I'm game for that too, would lose about 85% of the population though.

I'd like to note that there are plenty of forums you can talk about hacking/RMT in, I don't think the main site for a server should be one of them, sounds reasonable yes?

Problem is, QCDN isn't FFXI.

I don't like it any more then you do, but it'd be wrong to ban someone from the forums based on what they've done in-game.

I truthfully feel that you shouldn't get banned or anything for it. Saying that we are worse than IGE itself is kinda silly. You are saying it like we are letting people selling gil, accounts, and botting programs to each other just because some people said they sold gil to IGE or hacked accounts. Just because the modmins are not banning them does not mean they are supporting them either. And plus these people aren't trying to sell gil or anything, they are just saying they hacked and sold gil and aren't trying to encourage people to do it. They may be causing a fuss, but isn't that what everyone wanted the flameboard to be in the first place?

And if that's the case, ban me from QCDN for using windower. But I'm sure you will have to ban a lot of others too.

How about a special user group in an obnoxious color so that everyone knows at first glance that said person in the hypothetical user group is a hacker/rmt/buyer. :D I vote for Raspberry!

I never said worse then IGE, that would be silly. I think that glorifying the selling of gil/hacking, which you cannot say if you have any sense whatsoever that they didn't do is a step in the wrong direction for the server as a whole.

I agree with Lenn. I think that the site shouldn't allow cheaters to come here and be open about it. By allowing that you open other peoples minds to the concept of cheating aswell. I'm sure there are people who will go "Oh cool, these dudes cheated. I wonder how what that was like?" And it goes on from there.

I'm not for banning users who it is alleged have participated in hacks/RMT. But I am for putting something in place to discourage posting glorifying or advertising it. There's just no need for a post talking about you getting money for selling your FF character when you quit. Or posts about how you'd like to sell your character and you'd like to see who's interested. We don't let people post direct links or advice on hacks, we don't need to be letting people post garbage having to do with endorsing RMT in any shape or form. I think there should be a clear cut rule established about it, and I think it should be enforced.

Far as I'm concerned, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone here - RMT has ruined FFXI in a lot of ways. And I don't want to come to a site that allows it to be made a joke of like it's no big deal. "Haha Hell yeah brah! Go get yours!" Yeah. Fucking get it somewhere else.

Meh, only a handful of people feel the need to throw there hands up and say "I cheated", and it's only a last cry for attention before they quit. What gives you the authority to "punish" them, anyway?

I don't have, otherwise I would have, I'm asking that the people who do, will. If they decide not to, then its everyone's loss

I'm going to stand by my first post, people shouldn't be allowed to "brag" about illegal activities ingame (or RL..) but banning them from the site entirely seems excessive, needless and stupid to me.

Sano played for years, and had he not decided to make a stupid GT thread throwing it in everyones faces nobody would be any wiser now than they were last week. Funny that in RL legal systems confessing to crime can often lead to a less severe punishment, while the oposite is true on QCDN of all places.

Serious. Business.
