I demand The WETLIST back!!

"If" a list were to be created there would have to be certain requirements for being placed on this list. We all agree on this. What would those requirements be? ding and dash... NO. Not refreshing you before it wears off... NO. CC'ing you... NO.

We all have different standards so it would be difficult to make a list of possible requirements, but we can throw ideas out there.

What are the possible requirements?
How many have to be met before person in placed on list?
How can a person be taken off the list(if possible because people change)?

Make a list, compile it, and poll it. Letting the community decide is one possible way to go about, but let's hear some more ideas.

Peace,
Shmed

So in reading everything everyone said as to why a "wetlist" (I dont get this word) is not a great idea and this is what I think.

Alot of people do get flamed one time for one simple incident and sometimes thanks to QCDN that person is forever doomed. Those that manage to solve the problem/appologiez/etc usually go on to lead happy lives in Vanadiel. Those that don't are either forgotten over time if it was a little thing or are forever screwed if it was a big deal.

On the other hand you have people like Queen whatever who's name has come up repeatedly on the Flameboard and even a person like me who more reads the flames for entertain me knows not to go near them with a 10 ft pole.

With that said I think a point can be made that anyone that is bad enough to avoid all together seems to be flamed often enough that there will be up to date info or a recent post. Unless it is someone who is a dead horse topic that is so bad people know well enough not to post about them anyway.

I don't see a need for this but if we do lets call it "The Dead Horse List" because we will know its pointless to flame them and if you were crazy enough to stick around you don't deserve to flame them.

(some of the above post was intended to be toung in cheek humor please take it that way)

Whats why there were links to the flames, so you could see what they were flamed about and where it was a truly good flame or a garbage one. Personally i think the wetlist was a great idea and should be brought back. Just need someone who is willing to update it and moderate it since this is a pretty active board.

Neosquall is a wetlist player...I mean he's a wet......I mean....nevermind. Lost my train of thought.

You're looking for the Wet T-Shirt Contest. It's in the Good Times Forum.

I remember the Wet List.. It basicly made it and index of all the worst players on the server. With link's to the flames. I found it handy, and agree it should come back.

If someone's done something bad enough that they deserve a spot on the wetlist, they will be infamous enough that we won't need to be reminded of what they did.

The major thing though is updating it. Someone will create the topic, make a list, do a great job of updating it. 3-4 months down the road they get tired of doing it, get lazy, stop caring, whatever.

I know this from firsthand experience - look at the QCDN Players Photo Directory. I was updating that myself for about 5 months then just lost the lust to continue as more things were building up in my life and in-game. It went defunct and finally someone else offered to pick up my slack.

If anyone here truly wants a wetlist, make one. Write the guidelines. Collect some examples. Post it to the public and see if they agree. Once that's done a mod can sticky it and maintain it by deleting old posts. I don't think any of us (mods/admins) are willing to do the secretarial duties of actually creating this and updating it though.

No different from anyone else running these boards, it's just a page with a list of those who really need to be watched out for. Then again, at this point if people love getting screwed over by the same people, over and over and over again, fine go at it.

I mostly come to the flameboards for entertainment, and watch all those who continue to cheat, and steal others account because they seem "trusting" continue to do so.

Someone I saw very trusting I found he stole an account, and i lost all respect for him. My apologizes I didn't rush to the "search" engine when I first met the guy, I consider myself lucky it didn't happen to me.

Thinking about it again, the flameboard would be boring if people didn't fall for the same trick by the same people over and over again. I guess if we want to keep the flameboard, we just allow others getting screwed over.

It definitely sounds simple, until you undertake it. Believe me. I love maintaining my private forums - I have about 15 stickies across 3 private forums that I maintain regularly. It's nice and simple - edit OP, click the box, delete posts.

Maintaining a list? Not so simple. Like I said, take it from firsthand experience: for the first while it's easy as taking a shit in the park at night after splitting a 60oz with 2 midgets. After that it gets redundant and you lose the desire you originally had. Getting guidelines in place is the biggest speedbump... what you may consider a wetlist-worthy offense, others may consider nothing more than a daily pass-it-by occurrence.

I'm sorry for being so blunt and rude, but thus far this thread is another "I want this, but I want you to do the work!" like we've seen so many times on other issues across the board. Don't get me wrong, it would be a useful list - finding someone willing to step up to the plate is the current roadblock and likely that will not change.

Again I don't mean to be a dick to you specifically, you've never done me wrong. But you must be able to see why it hasn't been done yet and why it likely will never be done.

:/ Then why bother doing this as all? You seem steady and strong doing this everyday. You make it sound like I just want this just to have it. I want it to help people watch out for true ass hats. If no one wants to do it, i guess people will bitch and rave how they got their shit stolen, how morons will continue to progress and... *sigh

Forget it, who am I to try and care bout anyone else on this game. My apologizes for bringing this up.

Stop guilt tripping the mods. It's all well and good that you want it to help people, but Cmdr just explained why it didn't work before and won't work if tried again.

People are going to get themselves owned one way or another, if they're too lazy to search for someone's name during something important, too bad. Half the time people will ignore sound advice anyway, even when it smacks them hard in the face. (Deltas...) Either way, that's just too damn bad for them.

If you feel so strongly about it, and the currrent mods arent willing to do it, step up to the plate.

I'm not very good at these website sorta things. If anyone wanna teach me sure, tho I try I'm not the fastest learner.

If its really as easy as you say (i.e. just editing main post and adding links to flames) i'm bored enough just about all the time to take up this job.

A few questions though. As far as public opinion goes what would be the lowest possible infraction to be put on the wetlist? I wouldn't want to put everyone with a simple complaint on the list, like the Ardougne (or w/e) thread.

I would imagine people who are trouble to everyone they encounter and not just having a bad day would make the list. Valid flames and not someone just ranting because both people are having a bad day.

If you remember how it was before, i guess little explaination is needed.
