I don't fucking care if...

As for bad excuses. I was lvling my WHM in Qufim over the weekend, and it was pretty bad, well very bad, PTs disbanding and noobs galore. So I get into a PT that starts rolling pretty well, our back up voke is pretty lame, 20WAR/7THF, but I can forgive this, then he starts going AFK aboute every 10minutes. Well the leader has to go, he gives he 30min warning, a happy suprise for me. He leaves and this 20/7 guy is still AFK. I get leader and boot him. And this is what happens:

20/7 : y did u kik me?
Me: Your wasting our time, going afk every 10minutes without saying anything is rude and it's endangering my party.
20/7: butt i was buying gil real quick.
Me: orz
20/7: what? u guys r mean
And he walks away. 5minutes later he comes back
20/7: plz let me come back
Me: Nah, we're full.
20/7: plz plz plz
Me: I dont care if you waste your time but I do care if you waste my time, your not getting back in.
20/7: u r mean.
Then he leaves...so lame

Kids just say "No" to Qufim

Frankly . . . I'll paint myself as an offender here . . .

when I was still playing FFXI real life ALWAYS took priority . . . so if something came up like Aix/ Rioka wanting to do something or say for example Sabia wanted to hang-out I'd drop a PT in a heart beat . . . why?

simple . . .

going out and having a good time in the real world is more entertaining.

If someone is going to gripe about that . . . well . . . sorry, no tears or sympathy on my end.

i agree with almost everything here, except the IRL problems thing. Sometimes stuff comes up. For instance this morning (grr...i was pissed) i had just gotten into a party after seeking for about 2 days (on and off) and my mom showed up at my house and demanded to use the computer, and since she is my ride to work everyday.....well...i was not inclined to refuse her. Luckily i was back within ten minutes, but it isnt always the case. As far as the drunk/stoned thing goes, i dont mind it if someone says they are, but the minute their performance drops they get booted from my parties. I'll admit i play stoned or drunk sometimes, but i never let my party know unless someone else brings up the issue first, then we just have fun talking about our stoner moments together XD

Attention: These are the things I don't fucking care about and don't want to hear about in party.
  • You're drunk and/or high.
  • You need a drink and/or illegal substance.
  • Song lyrics to your favorite song.
  • How bad-ass you are (especially when you're not.)
  • How tired you are.*
  • How early you have to get up for work tomorrow.*
  • "Just relax, it's only a game!"

* These two fall under the "Then Why The Fuck Were You Seeking?!?!?!!?" category.

why are you so angry?

You're a bit harsh there Tyrion. I can't stand too when ppl lfp knowing they will be interrupted or not at their full potential. But on the other hand some ppl should understand that RL has the priority. I hate to have to say that, but this whole thing is "only" a game (a great game yes, but only a game).

Let me take an example : I was tanking in Garlaige Citadel in a pty with a friend. Everything was rolling, I had just gotten my lvl 50, a RDM was on his way and we had great XP. The puller had just pulled when suddenly I heard a big noise ... my one year old and a half daughter had just taken something on the head and she was bleeding. So I say on the party chat "Sry, big problem GTG", throw invincible and go take care of my daughter.
I come back a few min later to log off, explain to the party why I had to go and the puller answer : "Wth, only 80 TNL" ...
He really pissed me off !!! I nearly had to take my daughter to hospital and he was bitching about 80 XP ! (he got them later and much more when my friend replaced me).

Well, you're right, I hadn't considered an actual emergency. It's completely understandable, I had a few when I was helping do hospice care for my grandma before she passed away.

So, please let me rephrase:

It's your fault if it's something you could have predicted or prevented: Such as your mother telling you to get off the computer, or your wife bitching at you to do the dishes, or your sibling wanting to use the computer/PS2, or your girlfriend wanting more attention, or just being too sleepy to PT for more than 20 minutes.

Take care of these things before you LFP - work out things with other people before you LFP - Turn off the goddamn ringer!

And for God's sake, don't LIE to get into a different party. If you're going to ditch us for somebody else, at least be honest about it!

PS: I hope your kid is okay. :(
You know what, I really can't predict when or if my mom is going to kick me off the computer...
So there for, it is NOT my fault.
However, if my mom told me I had 10 minutes left, then I would of course, tell the party, BUT my mom doesn't do that =P

I understand about people who have to get off because of one reason or another BUT...

I would appreciate, if you are "sneaking" to use the computer, then it would be respectful if you would tell the person who asks you "Wanna PT?"

Just say: "Okay, BUT...at any moment I may have to get off because it's late and I'm not suppose to play" or "Sibling will need to use the comp soon (if you know that's the case) or something to that effect, and then leave the decision up to the person who invited you. :D So, the blame will be on the person who invited you and not on you...at least not most of it. Heh.

Because if you end up logging, then the PT will understand why, BUT, if you don't get into the PT at least you BOTH know. ^_^

AND for those who have to log because the siblings/mom wants to use the comp, then TRY to ask for 5 more minutes, so at least you can try to find a replacement.

I just want honesty. Please don't wait until you have to leave to say anything about maybe having to log. >_< :x

:D

Thanks! ^_^

Oh I do ask for at least five more minutes, however sometimes she won't allow it, and I would have to get off THAT second...which drives me nuts as well....

I feel ya. >_<

"Mom, are you going to need the computer anytime soon?"

She doesn't use the computer at all when i'm at her house, or if she does, she does when i'm sleeping.

Only times she will kick me off in that flat instance:

"We need to go to store before it closes!" (She can't lift heavy things on her own, she just had back surgery, so I have to do all the heavy lifting)

my mother will decide randomy when "its time i got off." she doesn't like this game... i basicaly eat, sleep, and play games. there was a minor issue, but never really a problem with it. once we got this game, she got all ballistic on me and my sister about how much time we spent playing. i have no idea why.

anyways, a while back, i was in the dunes with my whm, trying to convince my whole pt to go try the marshlands, as valkurm was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa(and then some)y overcamped. I managed to talk them all into it, march most of the way across the highlands, when my mom comes in, "you need to get off now."

I try to explain to her how i'm going to end up on the blacklist of all of these people and everyone they knew. I explained how long I had trying to get them to go there. I begged. I pleaded. I offered to not play anymore that week. all I got was more "you play this game too much. go run around outside" I hike my ass over a mile and a half to school each morning carrying a backpack that ways half of what I do, I get pleanty of execise, thank you.

So I'm sure these people all hate my guts now, but there was really nothing I could do about it. in a few seconds she was gonna go over and just pull the plug, shes done it before with other games. so I apologized a dozen times and logged out in shame. /cry

theres really not much ryme or reason to how she does this. what I try to do is say "My mother dearest could kick me anytime over the next hour, but I'll fight to stay for half an hour, and longer if I can."

Here's a test if you're unsure . . .

Does your distraction exist on the same side of the monitor as you?

if you answer yes to this question, then it's more important and arguing with Tyrion on whether or not you have the right to ditch from a party is moot . . . after all . . . he lives inside your monitor.

Callous? Yes . . . but it's the truth . . . it's a damned game and if someone is going to bust your balls for not taking this entertaining distraction seriously enough I fail to see how it's your problem.

honestly i think hte drunker you get sneak the better you play.

as for your comment dirgesong i do comepletely agree that real life has a priority over games. if i can go hang out with friends at the bar i go do that instead. but at the same time if you want to take this game far, you have to be aware that there are other real life people relying on you. they are also trying to play a game.

my roommates situation:
his party was in the crawlers nest. one of the damage dealers kept going afk without warning for a minute or so each time. after it was obvious that it was going to keep happening they kicked him. when he got back to his computer he told them that he kept going afk because he was writing an essay.

i'm not saying let your homework slide. that is more important. but if you know you have another obligationdont try to slide through the game afk especialy when others think your there to help. i'm not trying to tell people that the game is more important. but this person gained a reputation with my roommates party and my party that was right by them. from now on when we see him lfg and we need a 6th we will think we may be better off on our own.

so for his own benefit he should get his situation straight at home before he gets online. obviously i can deal with the ocasional "mom says i have to get off" or "OMG my dogs on fire" but if its a habit you are only hindering yourself.

in the end i say its your 12.95 so play how you want, i know i do.

Damn that why my monitor keeps changing to all kinds of funky colors.

*Ok, please place me in the hall of shame for bad jokes.*

I never said it wasn't their right - it is perfectly within their rights. However, it is also perfectly within my rights to consider them (correctly) a rude asshole for doing so, and announce the fact.

My view is this: Yes, it's a game, but if one going to play a team game, have some consideration for those on your team.

If six people spent half an hour getting together a basketball game, and just as theyre all set or even worse halfway through the game and then one guy is like "oh I'm gonna go home I'm tired", the other players would be perfectly justified telling that person that they were a fucktard.

Why is it any different because the other players happen to, as you put it, live inside your monitor?

It's not being inconsiderate to your party Tyrion, it's having priorities.

If for example Sabia called me and said "Yo Bitch! lets go get food and hit the comic store!!" and I was playing in a party it'd be maybe a 10 minute warning . . . if Rioka walked into the office and said she needed the computer . . . once agian . . . maybe 10 mins of warning.

I'd rather be inconsiderate to a group of people I was playing games with online than my friends in real life . . . there is no comparisson . . .

as for your basketball analogy, being tired was never part of my point . . . But, hell people get tired . . . and to be accurate to FFXI you wouldn't just organize with friends, you're be sitting on the court for an hour holding your Nike's above your head begging for attention.

But... it is just a game. And no, I'm not going to give you all my gil because it's just a game, so don't bother to make that pointless analogy for me. Every time you say that you hate it when people say "it's just a game" I wonder what you think it is. If it's not a game, what is it?

I understand that it's annoying when you've tried for a long time to get a team together and then someone bails on you after only an hour or whatever, but some people can't/won't play in parties for four hours at a time. Why, you might ask? Well, maybe they aren't having any fun because someone in the party is insisting that everything must be done just so with razor precision to ensure that the maximum amount of exp is gained in the minimum amount of time. It's fun when the exp flows freely, yes, but not when it's forced at the expense of a good time... and that's what drives alot of people away from parties, which in turn means that nobody gets to play.

Is that always the case? OF COURSE NOT. But it happens quite a bit.
