A year ago I sat back and never expected to actually write one of these posts myself. However, as it seem now, it may just be time. Those who knows me knows I've barely been on much at all this past year with work and school, and when I do play I only really do it for Salvage.
Don't get me wrong, I've always loved Salvage, and I still do. In my opinion it is the event SquareEnix has succeeded the best in making, and I thoroughly hope they will make more events like it, both in FFXI and FFXIV. Dynamis was an utter failure, but lately they have become better at making events that are more fitting to the community as a whole.
Anyway, yes, I am quitting. Or at least taking an indefinite break from the game. After having played for 6 years, I just do not feel as excited about logging in as I used to. The only thing I've found myself doing anymore is Salvage, everything else has been boring. And if all I'm gonna do is Salvage every day, I might as well spend that time doing something more productive.
Obligatory thank you part of the thread:
Mdkuser and Pchan. While you may be disliked by a lot of people in the community, you're still two of the people I've enjoyed the company of the most. Both of you are awesome players and deserve more respect then what you get in the game, and I truely do wish the best for you in your future endeavors, be it with or without me.
Keryan, while we didn't always see eye to eye on everything, you're one of few people I've respected in the game. You're like me in the sense that you always speak your mind and refuse to change your behavior and opinion because of what others thing or say about you. That is a trait I truly admire that I only hope more people will have.
Arezael, while I've known you the shortest out of the above mentioned people, you're still a great player, and one of the fairest people I know.
The other people I find have affected my game play in an important way have either changed server or quit, so I will not mention them here. Two people that get honorary mentions for being above others are Dayner and Draciot. Sadly, as they rarely play anymore I won't write long about them.
And for those of you that wonder due to my previous involvement with shady linkshells, no, I did not once hack or bot. I were in the shells because they were nice people I enjoyed the company of. I ask nothing more, and nothing less. That is why the previous 2+ years with Kentucky Fried Chocobo has been so great.
I do hope you guys decide to play Final Fantasy XIV later so we can play together in an all new game for X amount of years
PS: I've not yet decided whether or not I'm gonna quit. I am taking a break from the game, and if I feel I miss the game I will come back. I've been loyal to the game for 6 years, and I feel I've earned a break.
