I hate how people think Elvaan can't be BLM

feeling the pain of a Taru BLM

Hey Villarel.. you do a great job as an Elvaan BLM!! I'm wishing I was an Elvaan BLM right now with all my problems with Maat. My 615HP can't stand 1 spell from that bastage. Now I may have to compensate by buying MP to HP items........

I was able to beat Maat on the first try.

Here is what I did:

I waited until Firesday because the two most powerful acient magic is Flare and Flood. On Firesday, Flare would be strong. Since Fire is weak to Water, Flood would also be strong. So going on Firesday, Flare and Flood would have a higher chance of landing for full damage.

When you get to the BC, eat your pie (I ate Melon +1). Once I got into the BC I drank a Yagudo drink.

Just get close enough to Maat so you can cast on him. Here's the spell/ability order:

1. First cast Flare.
2. Elemental Seal + Sleep II (I like Sleep II over Sleepga II because of its faster cast time).
3. Manfont.
4. Flood.
5. Thunder III

I didn't even get scratched. I had macro's set up for the above actions, and just hit alt-1,2,3,4,5 in turn.

Good luck.

for Macro #2 is it:

/ja "Elemental Seal" <me>
/ma "Sleep II" <t>

do you have to have a delay in-between Elemental Seal and Sleep2?

For my Sleep macro I think I had:

/ja "Elemental Seal" <me>
/wait 1
/ma "Sleep II" <t>

Test it out first. You may have to adjust the /wait time. But I do remember having /wait in there.

A couple more things:

Did you wear your AF gear or the BLack Cloak?

How far did you stand from him?

The recent patch gimped the distance you can cast some spells from......(ex. Stun) I guess they are trying to fix it according to PlayOnline.

I was standing at the edge of the arena. Maat was in the center. From where I was standing I was able to cast Flare, Sleep II, Flood, and Thunder III on him. Luckily, I did not have to cast Stun.

Maat won't start fighting until you first hit him. So just go close enough until you can cast Flare.

Yea.. last night I stood just within range to cast FLARE, but then I hit my macro for STUN and it said "Target out of range".. I was like WTF!! By the time I crept close enough to cast it, he already casted Firaga3 and that's all she wrote for me.........

Thanks for the advice! You rock!!!!

i'm glad for being taru blm. last night i was in PT with elvaan blm. only 1 int difference in our gears. but i consistently hit for 115 on bliz vs 93 for him. my MB on blizzaga was also consistently hitting for 310 while he hit for 280. thunder also hit for 130 50% of the time while his hit for 50 100% of the time (he kept using thunder once he saw my damage, but gave up after hitting for only 50). 8)

Well if there was only 1 INT difference in your gear, then that's the problem right there. An Elvaan BLM should have WAAAAY more +INT stuff than a Tarutaru.

Yanzi.... I am not regretting my choice for being a Taru BLM. I just stated one case where I wish I had more HP like an Elvaan (fight with Maat).

In any case, I finally beat him. Thanks for the advice again Villarel!!

Bottom line: Elvaans and Galka really aren't suited to be mages. It's the truth; it's the way the game was designed. You know what though? To hell with it! YOU payed for the game and are STILL paying for it every month so if you're elvaan and ya want to be a BLM? GO FOR IT! Screw 'em if they can't handle it. "What if you're not good enough?" noobs in the dunes may say. "I don't want to die cause of a elvaan mage that cant damage enough!" Well guess what? When you die, it isn't REAL! It's a GAME! Worry not, he who plays this game too close to the vest, you are still at home, safe with your Mountain Dew and Cheetos (copyright Pepsi Co)! There are no marks on your horribly stunted Taru body!
If an elvaan wants to mage, great! its his money, his time, his game! I say this as an elvaan who DOESNT mage because they elvaans DO make crappy mages. That is my PERSONAL choice. I wouldnt begrudge anyone ELSE's choice.
Remember: it's just a game, have fun!

I'd take a Taru WAR that can skillchain and an Elvann BLM that can magic burst over the reversed race that don't care about neither anytime. Of course, I'd also never take a Taru WAR or Elvann BLM that can't skillchain or magic burst even if their HPs depended on it. Sadly, it's hard to tell until you've partied with the people playing "unconventional" combos.

Then again, I'm one to talk, I always rely on others to tell me what skillchains to pull. I really ought to print myself that SC sheet sometime soon...

My Elvaan RDM/BLM is badass...so what if we don't have all the MP in the world? We can still hit for hard as hell w/ the right weapon, so if our MP runs out, we are still ok. Soloing my RDM Elvaan has been pretty easy. People need to not judge what they do not know.
