I hate low level leveling..

The mentor flag nowadays amounts to "please ask me for some gilz", because that's the only thing I get asked if I have it up.

I can count on one pinky finger the amount of actual game-related questions I've been asked by someone who was able to find the Mentor Search feature.

Spoiler:
It was one.

While I do get that from time to time, on the rare occasion that someone does figure out the mentor search it is usually about where a certain location is or how to farm for this or that item. But you are right, I don't get Mentor tells alot because its so damn hard to navigate the menus for a newb

Also, when I first got on this server from the xbox beta, I was promptly booted from a party because I didn't have escape at level 33. I planned on getting it, just didn't realize how important it was. From then on I made damn sure I had everything that blm needed.

Peace,
Shmed

I think new players should at least be guided, unless they wont listen at all. I remember when I play my first MMO, EQ on PS2, I refuse to buy the Taunt skill, because the description said it will make the monster attack me.

A pretty decent alternative. *Palides uses Addendum: Forum* Not wearing a Hauby/Hauberk 3 levels after it's available, is more gimp than not having barfira at 20.

You really are damn new here. That was a joke about Antdog. Sipahi is not a decent alternative it's a terrible alternative as tests have shown that it is a lot worse than the haubergeon. I would even dare say that a peti would give better returns than the sipahi.

A mage should basically be checking every level to see if they have a new spell by either AH or finding the NPC that sells it. It's not hard to look on AH and if none is in stock ask a friend that would more than likely know or at least show you some place that would know.

Peti for TP and Sipahi for WS, would also be a viable Hauby til Hauberk alternative. [But I'd rather just get the Hauby. ^^]

Keep talking dipshit.

...twice in a row

do we need to necro that flame about signing names again?

peace,

Asshat

I'm pretty sure he does that in all of his posts. Either way it's annoying and I don't like it. To tell you the truth, I'm not even sure why..

Imo, I think it's funny and individualistic

You can be critical of new players to the point where you can make them cry, quit, or react negatively towards you because their experience with you.

You cannot expect all new players to be ready with their new spells or gear or skill to play this game; not everyone is a perfectionist or an elitest.
No one really told me some of the things I know today and I'm pretty sure that is the case with this whm. If no one really tells them something important about their job, when will they find out?

Like Makelith, I didn't know that the bomb toss was a TP based move until after I was pretty much done with them in the jungles. I just thought that goblins did them randomnly. Even though I had the spell, it never really occurred to me to actually use it.
I've used it since then, I still do now.
I just wish I could have known that earlier.
I'm just wondering if the whm was in a ls....would be a shame if they were in *cough*MBP*cough*
At least a ls would be their primary source of info, should the ls has some members who are job gurus. That is, if they can't look stuff up on the internet.

He/she may be able to play the game but not have a computer to look stuff up on; not everyone has a means to look stuff up on the internet. I know a few people who can play on their ps2 or xbox360 but don't have a pc or laptop.
He/she may actually be younger compared to most people in here, the possibilities are endless.

If you take maybe a few minutes of your time to explain, they may take it and be grateful for that kindness. Who knows, they may actually get better at their job.
They may ask you some pointers afterwards but that depends on each person.

Taking out your frustrations on the new people for their lack of spells or gear is not going to get them anywhere. Pointing them in the right direction would be better and may help them to get better and be more knowledgeable about their job.

From two different view points, this situation would read differently.

Viewpoint A
(Thread Poster is the one in a noob party and disbands due to personal reasons)
"They were so noob. Wouldn't listen to what I had to say and I got so angry I just disbanded."

Viewpoint B
(Thread Poster is the noob)
"Had a player who claimed he's a veteran, would only criticise the way I played and then got huffy and left! Wasted the time of the other 4 players!!"

Well, obviously I was supposed to type "wasted the time of the other 5 players" but ... well.... ok, you know.

Get your galka ass back in the kitchen and make me some chili.

Heh even I got hell from an idiot when I only had the game 2 weeks and I solo'd to lvl 12 BLM and no one (except for Vorhan, and another JP player) bothered to help me at all.

After a party I was invited to in the dunes earlier today scared the living hell outta me, I figured I'd bitch about it here, and start up a list to avoid the 'tards.

PT Layout:

BLM 12 : Davion (leader)

RDM 10: Inguo

BST 14 / WHM 7: ??? (forgot name)

WHM 14 / BLM 5: Chainer

SAM 9 / WAR 4: (myself, shocked at lv gap)

So I get the invite into this pt after being pointed at by Inguo several times. After the invite, as I wait for what I saw on the Member List to sink in, I see Davion and Inguo saying "come on lets go", as if the PT was ok and ready to level. Me and chainer (the only ones noticing a problem with the PT) start trying to make sense of wtf it was that just happened, telling these guys that this PT cannot possibly work, while we get "..."s from Davion and Inguo. I tell them that me being tho lowest lv in the party, + the 4 other members, + the 5 level gap, + the BSTs pets will make my EXP nil. Not that the PT could fight anything in the first place. I tell them that im gonna write down the PT layout for future reference, and the BST chimes in: " oh i wont use any pets unless we need to, so its ok". I disband, /disgusted at Davion, Inguo, and the BST for their utter noob-ness, and seek. About a minute later, a Taru MNK walks in and invites me. His dialect riddled with the usual "ne" and "1" abbreviations, he manages to get a full PT going (all lv 11, me being the only 9 >_<). After many more minutes of waiting (gonna start soloing crap instead of waiting like a damn fool), everyone gathers at the Konschtat zone. Leader Taru MNK decides we'll take an IT Lizard. The WHM stands amongst the melees, curing away, while the THF takes damage into the near-red zone somehow. (Had a BLM, but wearing noobRSE armor. when asked, "I have no money and nobody seems to want to just give me any. (Dalolah)) I get
about 134 EXP, and Sathe, the WAR, says, "40 TNL!"

. . .

Myself being the only underleveled person, I figure I'll have to leave the party next fight. Instead, the next IT lizard decides to kill the tank (Hahaha!). The WHM uses Benediction, not before I die of Poison. I HP, turns out they tried to zone, ended up killing it, I get my lv, disband, type this out.

So yeah, feel free to add names to this list of bad PTers.

Am I one of the few people that will admit to the shame and not be on a high horse?

It's situations and posts like the one I quoted from 3 years go that potentially chase of good characters that have potential to be good players. If people would stop bitch and be more encouraging and constructive.....

meh....
