So I finally decided to start leveling my next job to 75. Red Mage.. Well, my red mage was dunes level, but i'm finally in Qufim.. I'd just like to say I didn't know how bad it is. I hate it.

I went to Qufim today, and got a party. I don't expect your gear to even be semi-decent at that level.. It's nice if it is. I make a point to have my gear to be good, but I know how people are and have stopped caring... But here's what happened..

So I get to my party and the XP is decent for awhile. I was decently happy with it. The whm was rank 1, level 20 and I didn't say anything. I try to to freak out on new players. Eventually there were too many parties outside, so we went inside to fight gobs. The whm got the CoP cs upon zoning, but I didn't say anything.. Who cares? He's new. So.. finally he gets to us, and I asked for barfira, as I don't have it yet.... He didn't cast it. So I asked again. He said "I silenced it"... So i started explaining that bomb toss is a tp move, not magic. Then he said "It's not fire"... So then I said "Uh.. It's fire based."... And I normally wouldn't care.. and it wouldn't bother me, but what came next really pissed me off. He finally said "I don't have barfira"... And I wouldn't have been so annoyed if he didn't say two wrong things to try to get out of saying he didn't have it.

Then the rest of the party decides that since the "new" white mage doesn't have barfira they will just have the powerlevel tank. That annoyed me, and I tried to say I didn't want to do that, but they said it's the plvl's "Job" to tank. So i then asked what the ninja's job was. No answer. So I disbanded.

Suddenly I got spammed with tells. I'm not saying it wasn't expected considdering I disbanded without notice, but I was not happy about the fact that the "new" whm was basically unable to level certain skills involved in curing party members because of the plvl. We didn't even need a damn plvl. We had a whm/blm, rdm/whm, and a dnc/??. We had a crap ton of cures. I would have been fine with the whm walking back to town to buy barfira, or if he didn't have it we could have just gone on with a little down time if bomb toss kicked our asses. I was just frustrated that the answer was "Let the plvl tank"... WTF?

So after I left the party, I blacklisted the ones who wouldn't stop spamming me with rude tells. The one guy even started spamming my pol message box with friend requests just to be an idiot. Then when i started putting my own party together they started sending tells to the people in my party telling them they shouldn't xp with me.

I ended up taking the leader off my blacklist and telling him to leave people alone, and we eventually talked out the issue. I'm still annoyed that any of it happened in the first place. 1) I wasn't that rude 2) Alot of people would have an issue with what was going on. 3) Why the hell would you act that was toward someone who leaves a party because they don't want a powerlevel to tank?

Was I wrong to leave? One of the people asked why it was such a huge deal when I was getting "free xp"... I don't want free xp! I want to do my job, and level up knowing every level I did my job.... I was basically standing there and
nuking... but even with one nuke I pulled hate off the plvl.. It was just a frustrating experience.. Maybe I shouldn't have cared because it's Qufim and shit happens there like this all the time, but it's not my play style and I think I have a right to leave a party if I have a problem with something they're doing. And they should respect my decision. After I left I even explained that they had too many healers, and a DD would help them out more than I would. They had a DD replacement within 5 minutes, and still felt the need to be shit heads.

Considering you did leave unannounced, and you blisted the former pt members, they probably did not take it very well to their liking.
I'd consider that very rude and it is up there in the list where people disband their current party just to get into another one soon after without saying "I'm sorry guys but this isn't working for me."
Although it is nice to /poke them when you see them in a pt not too far away from yours leveling lol.

New people most lilely do not know that some spells/skills are crucial to their job. I mean, he didn't know that the bomb toss was a TP based move, so that just tell me how much he must NOT know. I can't really blame him for those misconceptions but that is why its up to others to educate the newbies a little.
Whether they take the advice/info or not is their choice.

Were you wrong to leave? I'd say no but it seems the way you left is not something I'd agree with. There are better ways to leave a pt on somewhat better terms other than just disbanding abruptly and then proceeding to make another one soon after.
If you don't agree with what a pt is doing, then say so. If the rest still wants to do things in a way that you do not like, then you always have the option of leaving. No one is forcing you to stay in that pt after all.

Likewise, the pt can decide to keep its current members or boot them to get better ones. Respecting opinions would be great and would be ideal but what you did was quite the opposite.
To them it probably looked like you were throwing a hissy fit when you discovered the whm didn't have that barfira and they said to let the PLer tank. That's probably where "Whats the big deal?" line came from.

It's great that you want to do your job, they way it was meant to be but perhaps not all think the same way.

Bah hit enter...

Was gonna say, don't be so hard on noobs. We were all there once. WHM at 20 w/o barfira isn't the end of the world... it's annoying yes. But not as annoying as the 66RDM/33WHM I had two weeks ago when I was on PLD, who didn't have Barfira in Mount Z... as I got incinerated for 800+ and died when I ran out of mp several times. Now that's something to bitch about.

Seems to be the subject this week lol

I was lv 15 Blm in a dunes party and the PL we had kept saying "Dont voke off me" to the tank, so I try a nuke and guess what the mob dont like that so it comes running at me to give me a whack. The tank wouldnt voke cause he was told not to the PL was messing about with macros or something. Just my bad luck I guess lol.

I eventually left that party but I did ask the leader to replace me and kept it civil, I'm not a fan of that playstyle but I wont just walk away, I can understand why you wernt happy with the situation but walking off may have just made things worse. Sometimes I think thats why fake dc's happen because they dont want to leave and get in a arguement about it so 30 seconds and they're gone is less stressful to them.

So let me ask you this.
Did you point out where the WHM could buy Barfira? As I recall, it's some corner shop no one cares about in Lower Jeuno.
People who are leveling their second, third etc. job to 75 expect that everyone at low levels knows as much as they do. And yes, while there are resources out there that can help people with finding spells, if no one points them out to new players, they go on being blasted by people like you because no one could stop and give them a hand.

Do what I did, set your hopes extremely low. That way, when your parties blow you can say you saw it coming and be on your merry way.

I try to freak out on new players too. I berate them until they cry, it's quite amuzing.

You should give a bit of leniency to newer players, probably far more than you did. I'm sure he didn't expect to need barfira and didn't purchase it for that reason, I doubt he was making excuses to avoid saying that either. What you should have done is point him towards some resources that would have aided him in being a better WHM and where he can find items cheaper such as Wiki. Tell him to look up barfira as an example so he can find the scroll, where it's purchased, and even how much it costs at NPC. Or show him the link for missions and explain to him the benefits of doing missions such as longer signet duration and access to higher rank items some of which can be sold for decent gil.

I remember this one time in Kuftal Tunnel, what lvl is that, like 38-45 or something? Anyways, yeah our whm didn't have barfire either... True Story.

Bah, ment Gustav tunnel.. but you get the point lol.

Solo to 25, it's easier and less stressful. Admittedly, you'll still get your idiots post 25, but then there's no excuse not to bitch, kick, and cuss them out then.

You should have given them a bit of notice before leaving, at least saying hey guys, sorry this isn't working for me. I can see why you weren't happy with a party though; I don't understand why every party needs a PL anymore...

I agree. SE made the game so fucking easy, yet people still fuck up. I don't understand WHM's who suck. All it includes is spamming mother fuckers with heals.

I love leveling low jobs, 4 levels in a few hours, its like istant gratification. I personally can't get enough of Qufim.

Aye, but there's new rock layers of suck lately, and setting your hopes underneath them only exposes another layer of suck.

So because he's new and it's Qufim and there is a power level he's exempt from checking NPC's/AH to get the bare miminum needed to play his class correctly? Bullshit. I may be an elitest but that's just stupidity. All you carebears who "feel" for gimps like that can baby sit him in a party then and people who actually give a shit about learning their jobs can have a better time.

So because he doesn't know and no one has pointed him in the right direction gives people like YOU the right to berated them for not learning every minute detail about the game while they ran that first 5+ hour update? Sites out there like Alla and ffxiwiki are available, but if the person doesn't know about them and you don't take the time to tell them, well OF COURSE they'll eventually be gimping it up all the way until they quit the game.
You shouldn't have to hold their hands to 75, I agree. But expecting every person who comes into the game to know everything there is to know is fucking retarded.
