Why can't people commit? Why do people break promises, break deals already made?
I have never ever made a thread in the flameboard, but I've had enough. This is too much and I need to vent it out.
Everything would be easier if people kept their word, you know? =\
What's done is done... I don't even know if it's worth it or not... I just... wanna let it out...where should I start? Beware long post.>_<;
The Ping-Pong Syndrome: Let's start with something real quick. Dynamis. Typical, don't you think? People come and leave, it's like ping-pong... except they rarely come back. They get some gear here and there then you find them doing something else during dynamis or just in a new shell. I'd understand if people stopped attending due to real life issues, but most of these people we're talking about only think about themselves. It's so typical too that this kind of people get so lucky at lotting that they get the gear first than the ones that have committed long time to a linkshell. Isn't it frustrating?
The "Whoops, I changed my mind" Syndrome: This is so typical too. People first agree on something, then something happens and they change their mind. Like for example, BCNM static. If you want this item that drops from said BCNM, why don't you talk with your static and make a deal BEFORE said item drops? Why don't you speak up your mind BEFORE we start to run the static? Why if we say the item is gonna be split, and ask everyone if it's ok, you say: "ok" to it, if you want it, if you aren't ok with it? You could avoid all kind of problems if only... you'd speak up!
Expensive item drops. Orb holder lots everything from his orb. We stated the rules before the static started: If expensive item drops, we split it between members. I remind him about that golden rule. He says: I know.
Next day, we say hello and all. I ask: "Did the item sell?" He replies with: "Um, actually I wanted to make a deal with you guys." We ask (kind of shocked): "What is it?" He says: "Well I want to keep this item, but I know you'd need your part of the split, but I don't have the money. You think you could give me a discount since I'm your friend lol? Or give me some time to get all the money to pay you guys back?" He got another less expensive item from that orb by the way. He'd have over a mil once that item sold. So we told him: "Just put the item on AH, and once it sells you'll have enough to buy your own item." To which he replied: "But I want this one, it has a special meaning to me."
Ten minutes pass, he hasn't put the item up on AH. He still refuses. Fine then, there's no point in keep arguing, let's just find a solution. Fortunately he agreed on the new deal we made for him. We bought the other less expensive item from him, and then he had enough to pay us both. Of course it was a bit less than it should have been had he sold the expensive item, but oh well. How can you trust when your own friends do that to you? It would have been no problem had he said he wanted to keep the item before the static started their first run... he just broke our trust, and it hurts. =\ Well the worse scenario would have been if he kept the item and just blist us... which happens often I bet.
How ironic is it, he says he can't trust anyone 'cause people have lied to him, but now can we trust him? He lied to us basically. =\
The "I value that other game over people" Syndrome:
Static time! Gather together at said time. We all agreed to commitment. Hey it's fine if you can't attend, if something irl comes up right? We started gathering, waited for one member since she was finishing dynamis at the time. She arrives, then wait for the last member, but he's nowhere to be found. So we ask her where is he? She says he's playing a game. "Is he gonna log on?" We ask, but there was no precise reply. I ask the leader if he's gonna get on, and she said "He's logging on" Okay let's wait for him, he's part of the static. An hour and a half passes... he's nowhere to be found. He's still trying to beat some boss from some other game. Woo... can't you beat that later? It's static time... Nope, he didn't get on, he was still trying to beat that boss he couldn't beat earlier. Since he was the disc holder, we had to look for a replacement and start all over again.
All the static was frustrated (well not everyone, guess why?) so we couldn't focus during the run, our morale was down, we did horribly. But hey, someone said "it's just bad luck". So after the 2nd run of wiping and all, we decided to start up fresh next week, we were all frustrated at the moment. And guess who got on? Yes, the disc holder did. I think he was feeling a bit uneasy and didn't feel like apologizing, I think someone pushed him to do it, but whatever. So he said something like: "hey guys sorry for holding you up, but I'm here now, best we can do is give it another shot".
We were already done. The harm was already done. What, make him get 5 more floors so he can go play and not attend another run? >.> We'd just be wasting our time again. I admit I used a bit aggresive language, but some people were just being too light on the situation, like ignoring it.... it was making me mad. Only two of us spoke up.
So he basically said to just forget about it, since it's a game, and it's all the same, his game is the same as this game, doesn't matter. That just get over it, and be all happy like if nothing had happened. "A game is a game, I lost track of time." He said... but of course he didn't lose track of time, 'cause he was aware that he had static that night. "I couldn't all on the same system", easy solution: get off that game which isn't gonna go anywhere, and commit to your static like you said you would. "Guys there isn't much to beat the donkey further lol XD, you know why I was late, and I'm sorry geez. I'm not gonna purposely screw you." Yeah... you did not screw us wasting our time, you did not screw us wasting our gil buying RR pins, food, tools, you did not screw our effort... you didn't do it on purpose. And you went to do some nyzul right after that with someone else.
This same disc holder almost replaced a member of our static 'cause they got confused with times, and didn't specify them the exact times, so they arrived late. Once they arrived and apologized, he still wanted to replace them with a friend, until I spoke up, said that wasn't fair. Once that member knew the correct times, he started to arrive on time. (they had some issues before, long time ago, maybe that's why)
So basically the disc holder didn't value us, our time. Didn't value a static member either, wanting to replace him just like that. He valued that other game over us 'cause after all... it's only a game for him, who cares about commitments with people. He said he won't do it again but how can we trust now...? *sigh*
Well I think this is all I wanted to let out. Sorry for the long post, had to type all the details.>.>; I know there's a lot more of these "syndromes" but that would be some extensive post. x_x; I might get some hate-mail, but I rather speak up than not being myself. Most of the times, people are scared to speak up, and prefer to keep their mouths shut. That's one of the reasons the world is like it is now. What do you guys think?
