I made our Nyzul Isle static party better!

You'll have to forgive my memory on this BLU burn party. It's only even ever so slightly relevant how? I may have been on one with you but I don't recall. The only parties of All BLUs I ever remember being in were spell hunting parties no merits. Voracious Trunk, Marids... Were you in that spell hunting party with me? Then I think we went to fight Demons in Ulegurand Range? That might have been a merit po... ok my memory came back. Was that you? I think I did pretty well in that party. I didn't have a better choice in pants at the time. I do now. The way I feel about being intimidated by Demons OCCASIONALLY, well it just doesn't bother me as much.

BLU is way more complex to play than sam in my opinion but I did well from day 1 all the way up to my first day as a 75 and past that to now. It's hardly relevant for gear swaps as all I was new to the job and haven't aquired a lot of choice gear. Right, wrong, or indifferent, I now tp in Enkidu's body and swap in Magus Jubbah for most spells. I still have a lot to learn but at least I make an attempt to get better.

Back to the real subject, yeah he attempted to be a better sam by asking the questions but it was such a basic question I couldn't help but laugh. Sorry, that's just the way it is. That's like asking you Ewok, in the merit party. Hey what does the BLU+15 do for the AF body? (weak analogy) But I'm sure you'd get a laugh out of that. Better, I could ask you why I'm getting intimidated by demons but I already know that Crimson gear does that because I care enough to look shit up.

No I wouldn't laugh, because I have been asked that question a lot (well more along the lines of what blue magic skill effects) It is supposed to basic knowledge how blue magic skill effects physical and magical blue magic, but there are still plenty of people out there who don't know.

Well, I know when I hit 75 I had the feeling like "Wow! I am now at the end. I rule. I am the KING." or something like that. It's only then when I realized. "Wow, everything changes now. This stuff is new. Wow, I'm really equivalent to a lvl1 eng-gamer."

I've learned some of the most BASIC things for the first time post 75. I guess it is unfair of me to laugh at Maddash about the Meditate question. I did find it funny though, so going with my gut. I just had to laugh.

"How I mine for TP?" kinda thing. At the very least in my redemption, I did anwser him and he thanked me but he still gets laughed at for that. That shit was funny.

(written in .txt file at work so they don't catch me... hope the formatting comes across)

Ewok, More I thought about it on the way to work the more I felt I had to post more. BLU (To me) is an incredibly complex job. I am STILL a noob at it since I don't play it a lot. But, I like the challenge. I'm still learning about what build for each spell. When I don't have money, gear and room for all of that complexity I go for a happy medium.

like: STR+ builds for most of my physical spells that use STR modifiers. So that might make me average still with room to grow but at least I try.

That's all I was asking/hoping for with Madd.

Someone asked out lotting system and I guess I should have pointed it out. It's simple. You join in, pick a gear set, Lot that gear set; same for weapon(s) except I picked like 4 weapons. When everyone who signed up for X got X, then it goes to freelot.

Madd (whether or not he could equip/use) signed up for Askar. Denali and Goliard were not yet free. Plus, it sounds like he CAN use/equip these items. However, he did in fact tell us in party chat "I cannot use these". Just another example of his lack of communication.

As I said, I wasn't trying to put down your BLU exactly, just hoping you would see it from the angle of the person with less then average gear/practices/etc (merit parties are pretty straight foward, tp gear to tp in, STR acc and blue magic skill to cast physical spells, so you are on track there). However, Nicolette I feel explained your situation in better detail, so I understand your actions, sans the insults.

Most people around here know me, and know i'm a helpful person. I don't know anything whatsoever about samurai though other than the basic "Its a useful job when you want to do quick damage, and nice to bring along against dragons." I was/am in this nyzul shell so maybe my view on the situation can help.

I can't speak for Maddash's samurai ability. I know that when we would get to the bosses (sometimes IF we got to the bosses) that duffman would have his 2hr and a few job abilities besides up and ready, unleash holy hell on the boss which would then lose a ton of HP. (Then crocker would spam heal him if necessary so he wouldnt get eaten) on fafnir/hydra that was fairly decent damage. On adamantoise etc duffman would be using ws fairly consistently and avoiding breaths while still essentially co tanking with devi who was spamming blu spells, or I who was doing the same. The only time I noticed maddash's damage was when duff, myself, and devi were all dead and I was hoping that maddash could finish it off. Sometimes it didnt occur to me that I should have expected maddash to dish out as much damage as duffman, but it should have. It just didn't seem like they were playing the same job, and so I would forget it.

On lamp floors, after the 6th or so attempt mad would stay at the rune because he couldnt follow directions for order or would aggro when people split up and couldnt be saved. Thats fine, some people don't understand em at first, and maybe he just didn't care. He took us up just fine when the time came.

The vent thing was open to everyone, mad and image didnt come on, some people dont like vent (i use it but dont even have a mic) and if theyre ps2 players maybe they cant even if they wanted to. The trash talking kinda went over my head as most of the comparing of damage I hear on it I ignore. The boys like comparing the size of their ...damage, and its usually good natured. I guess duff was more aware of mad's underperformance and took it more personally, but nyzul is like that, if someones not pulling their weight it hurts everyone. And to be honest, duff probably would have put up with it except...

Over the last 4 weeks, maddash took home at least 6 items, maybe 8, lotting whatever at all dropped. He chose askar, took 2 goliard (noone is assigned goliard, so w/e, even though crocker or image could have used it and mad's only mage job blm he no longer plays, and has sold his gear to) lotted askar body (congrats) we did boots mon and bodies thurs and after getting 2 denali for the two of us looking for them, we were running through the askar people before switching that day to a different floor. Before the run we asked how many left to go so we could get an idea of how many we had to get and only duffman spoke up. When askar boots dropped that week we were like Yay duff, and excited to go. Duff lotted, we got ready to exit and mad lotted. He hadnt said a word yet. But he needed them and they were his lot so even though it got under peoples skin. Just a consideration thing I guess. But I doubt he noticed it, just said "tyty" and ran out.

Next run another set of askar boots dropped, and that cleared up some of that bad blood. After that mad lotted denali he couldn't use (again with "tyty" the only words he spoke the whole run) and was told he couldnt lot askar hands until the other 2 askar lotters got, since he (accidentally or not) already got a hands drop.

The very next run is when he quit, taking image with him because of backtalking? I dont believe it. I asked image if it was because of the hands thing, and she said yes. I think mad would have happily continued with us, whatever duff said, if he was still able to freelot any drop that came along until he got all 3 sets.

It was the carrying him AND him getting everything that dropped that prompted duffmans actions I think. And whatever the little friend defense argument that's been going on the last 10 pages, I think we can agree on that.

I think this was very well said. Nico has usually been good at getting the point across though with well worded posts as well as giving the appropriate information.

The other classes that this person Maddash has are irrelevant btw. I don't even understand how WHM got into this when he was playing SAM, that doesn't make sense to me. He could be some people's favourite WHM but that has nothing to do with SAM skill or what he has lotted "accidentally".

Not that it really matters but Maddash has WHM. So it's not just a "retired" BLM that can where Goliard. And Maddash has THF, so they can were Denali also.

But I'm not going to pick apart your post or anything because I wasn't there and can't say what happened. Even though I am kinda wondering how exactly you guys' lotting system works.

As long as it wasn't goliard hands and legs which they didnt say it wasn't. They already said how lotting work too, you choose a main set of gear and lot. Nobody wants goliard so its free lot, and if everyone has a piece it is free lot. At least thats what they made it sound like.

Which Goliard pieces was it btw?

I'm certain he has Head and Feet at least.

While it may have been an accident me and Nicolette weren't terribly happy to see

Nicolette lots 2## for the denali wristbands.
Devifoxx lots 4## for the denali wristbands.
10 seconds remaining...
5 seconds remaining...
(Devifoxx) Maddash. Pass!
Maddash obtains a pair of denali

*Zone out. Didn't see lot due to Lag spike.*
(Devifoxx) ........

...

To reiterate how the lotting system in our Nyzul static works, so there's no confusion.

At the start of joining, a member picks an entire set they want.

Devifoxx - Denali
Nicolette - Denali
Duffman - Askar
Crocker - Askar
Image - Askar
Maddash - Askar

Whichever set you choose, you're prioritized to lot from that set only. So I can't say I want to lot Askar if I'm already assigned to Denali. Everyone who's on priority for Askar gets first pick. And once everyone gets all of the Askar, clearing the priority list, THEN me or anyone else can freelot any extras that happen to drop, on the condition you can (and plan to) make use of it.

Thus, why it's OK for Maddash to lot Goliard Head and Feet. No one wanted it.
And why it was OK to lot Denali Feet--Me and Nicolette already got our pairs, and it went to freelot. Even though Maddash said (After waiting until the last second to lot {when Duff had lotted}, after they dropped to him {Maddash}, and after we exited from Nyzul.) that he was "gonna use it for his DRG".

Duff probably could've gotten more use out of them for his BLU, and I'm not terribly sure what a DRG would want/need with Denali Feet. But that discussion is moot at this point, and rules are rules. It went to free lot, and Maddash won them, so analyzing it any further than that is irrelevant.

But yeah. At the beginning of the static, we established, more than once, who wanted to lot from what set. And everyone was cool with that.

The fact that this isn't the first time he's waited until the last second on the clock to lot a piece of gear is what made me raise an eyebrow. He's done it with Askar Feet and Body, and Denali Feet.

True that he had every right to lot them, but if you're in Nyzul it's really not a good idea to wait for an entire minute go by without lotting or passing on anything---waiting for everyone to lot / pass first. I don't like that. It looks suspicious to me. And it would especially upset me if we lost it due to time-out and no one passing.

Nyzul equips have a really low drop rate as it is. And I don't want to spend a lot of time farming the same floor over and over and over again. Seeing SOMETHING drop, at all, is a breath of fresh air.

"Well, why don't you Quartermaster?" you might ask... Quartermaster only kicks in when the next person lots / passes after you set it.

Maybe I should give Maddash the benefit of a doubt.

I still kind of do. Especially since I know who he is IRL.

Maddash is a 55-year-old Canadian grandfather who smokes weed on a regular basis. He plays Elvaan Female because its more relaxing to stare at a woman than a male character. That's cool. I don't mind that at all. You could be a 98 year old great grandma on crack cocaine and put Avesta's JP RDM Soloing powers to shame for all I care. That's your personal life, and that's fine. I can't tell you how to live your life.

Maddash is a nice person. I'll testify to that. I agree with everyone else on that.

The thing is though is that he has a tendency to let his personal "habits" affect his gaming ability.

Case in point. Getting an Activate All Lamps: Code floor is basically a free floor, right?

My group was very happy. We all checked the lamp because it was just 2 rooms over from the rune. Even Image herself got to it fast too. Very easy to find.

Maddash...? He spent about 5 to 6 minutes running around the ENTIRE zone, aggroing stuff, getting raised by Crocker, getting lost again.

We even tried calling for help on a monster near the Lamp so he could see the blip on the compass. ... Still got lost.

Maddash? Good person. Bad at following directions, and being SAM.

Did he really Ninja Lot those Denali Wristbands?

I thought I won them, but I was a bit upset when I saw who won. Because I was under the impression he was after Askar only.

I'm willing to give him the benefit of a doubt, so was Duff. Maybe his "finger slipped" like he said.

Regardless, though. And I told him in front of Image, Crocker, Nicolette and Duffman that I still had to penalize him for it by Quartermastering stuff to the highest lotter.

I wasn't doing it to be a jerk. I like Maddash. However, his actions have proven himself to be a liability to the team. Meaning, I actually have to watch out if someone else's "finger slips", just because they're not paying attention to the game.

Again. Maddash. Good person. But he's a liability--a handicap to the team.

I'm nearly wetting myself here laughing at that part. I totally remember that night. This is what I'm talking about for the Meditate "How do you" subject. It's FUNNY. It's annoying and kind of a "what the hell" moment but it's also funny.

I've had waaaaaay too much caffeine here at work so I'm giddy at the moment. Yeah that's a valid testimony to how this guy plays. At least Twist was able to keep us alive playing whm and he "partakes".

I don't care that he's 55 and playing. I actually think that's kind of cool myself. I'm going to also re-re-reiterate that he IS polite and a decent fellow. Just wow man... the smoking... That totally explains it. He must've been higher than a motherF**ker some of those nights.

still funny

dang lack of edits, screwed up the quoting...

Anyway, I wanted to get rid of him long ago and even said so. I didn't push on it because we managed to pull enough wins out of our butts, sometime with a minute to spare that it didn't seem to matter too much.

That lotting shit and dunno just a straw that busted that poor camel's back and I was all over it. Even to the point of sending him a /tell "I want to replace you." when he asked us to tell him if we did want to.

It was totally time.

Well I had no idea that Maddash was 55 years old lol. But I'm not surprised that he may be a bad SAM. I know about three other 50~ years old men who play the game and they aren't the best at their jobs either. Very nice, but when it comes to listening and how the game works and even gear to wear on their jobs, they don't understand so well.

Truthfully, that clears up so much than anything else in this thread to me because I know how it can be. Of course I still bring them around to do stuff though because they are good people.
