I should lighten up.

Really? All this came out of Audino's GT thread? Like really!?

Not only was it a legitimate Good Times thread, but it was funny and different than the circle jerk Good times threads tend to turn into.

"OMGZ I HITS 75!" "OMG!1!!2@!1! I GOT SKY!" "CONGRATULATE ME BECAUSE I'M AN ATTENTION WHORE!"

Newsflash: 75 is not an achievement. All it means, is that you waited for a long time. You didn't have to work for it. You either made a static, in which case, congrats for being able to schedule, or you followed the same formula everyone else did

You don't even have to be good at your job to get 75. All you have to do is wait.
The only 75 threads I've actually enjoyed were ones where it's become a running joke that the person would never hit 75 (Khidir, Realia, etc.) or someone like Cythe posting a "omgz guyz, i hitted 75" after releveling from a dynamis death.

Sky takes a matter of hours, and there isn't any difficult fights. Again, you scheduled something, and people were at the very least average. Yay for you.

CoP on the other hand, does have some hard fights, and it takes a long time, used to take lots of exp, and a lot of gil. There's significantly more work put into CoP than getting sky or 75.

If you didn't see the joke, you're an idiot. That's okay, though. Just grow up, admit you're a moron, and you ruined a good thread. Don't continue to be a little bitch about it.

I do think you've entirely missed the spirit of Good Times.

As has been established, many many times before you posted this, Good Times is a place to post things that people did while having a "Good Time". If Aud et al had a good time leveling Willian to RDM75, or obtaining 202 Parrying (an achievement, to be sure...I doubt I'll hit it on DRK - 104 and holding), power to them. Likewise, (sorry Davion to bring this up again) if Davion had a rip-roaring good time leveling Corsair to wear a Pirate hat, then power to him too!

However, the judgment of what is or what is not "good times" is not for you or anyone aside the Admin and Moderation staff to discern.

Did I have a good time leveling to 75? Bet your ass. What was more good about it for me, though, was seeing my wife hit level 75 before I did. I kept a solid 3k exp above her that I obliterated through various self-inflicted KO's just so that I wouldn't DING before she did, as a matter of fact. It's an accomplishment she'd been attempting since PC release, and for various reasons she was unable to finish until now. It wasn't a personal choice, it wasn't because she up and decided "oh hey, I'll just go ahead and get 75 now". However, my point isn't about all that.

My point is about this: One man's good times is another man's idiocy.

If you're so quick to judge the GT board yourself, let's take a look at this gem and decide, by your standards, whether it's "Good Times" or simply "lulz". One man's good times is another man's idiocy.

I suggest we change the name of the board from "Good Times" to "Good Times Not Related To Audino Obtaining Byakko's Haidate" since apparently any post made about it will get locked/deleted.

I agree but I say it more simply.

Getting 75 isn't really much of an achievement to many people since people level jobs with just one or two sets of gear(read:LoL) to 75.

However, there are more methods than one to obtain it, it's not so much the level 75 it's really the journey behind it which makes it all the worthwhile. It makes me look back when I first started and how I changed really.

I understand since the majority of the server has 75's it's not so much a big of a deal and that expectations from the community will generally rise, but to each person any sort of experience or item obtained can reflect deeper meanings than just characters on a screen.

So you are right in a sense, the level 75 is not a big deal but when it has a larger meaning about it(such as the running joke you mentioned) it becomes more enjoyable or interesting(lacking a good word on that).

Of course that's a bit why I also level fairly slow, if I did rush my jobs with friendly pls or shit gear I'd have quit by now.

You can't talk until you stop getting more WoW trivia answers right than me lol

Ooohhhh now I get it. This whole time I was thinking, "Who the fuck is Malagron, and what kind of trivia hax does he/she use?"

If its all about having a Good Time and being able to post about it I should be right to post things which could be seen as flame baiting, because honestly if someone on this board did something completely idiotic in game, I'd laugh, it would be enjoyable to me, in short it would be a Good Time. But I can not due to particular rules, which really can not be said to be developed by the community, rather the moderators. Point being, regulations are defined by preferences, preferences about how things ought to be done.

One might say, well flame-baiting is destructive to the community. While there is a defense for this, but you are going to have define what the community is, what its standards are, and why questioning or breaking those standards is consistently bad. Until this is made clear one could as easily flame-bait in a silly GT thread citing that its insignificance might as well be forum crapping instead of thread crapping. Point being, both are preferences, and holding one higher than the other based on some other moderator preference is silly. As long as people post ridiculous threads, I will point it out. I'm not using this form of logic, but I make this statement to point out its absurdity: if you don't like it, don't read it.

But Mattaru, aren't you and those like you create a chilling effect on what people feel like posting in GT threads. Well, sure, I guess. That would be a good thing, its called self control people, although you may be able to post about that moment in-game that was slightly enjoyable, keep it in game and enjoy it there. BY POSTING INSIGNIFICANT GOOD TIMES YOU DEVALUE THE IMPORTANT THINGS THAT PEOPLE HAVE TO POST ABOUT.

Audino's, post was significant. If you checked the spoiler it wasn't just celebrating getting the gear, it was celebrating the in game community, which is a social shell, that helped him get it without dedicating himself to sky for months.

As far as the parrying picture, I said in game it would be funny if he did that then put the actual GT at the bottom, because it would be funny, it would make me, and others laugh. And it did.

The whole Jamal read-only, which is tied imo to Audino's thread, is simply a case of moderator preference. And as I said before a preference over a preference based on vaguely justified standards (in a community sense not an ownership sense) is silly.

PS: If I could quote it still I would. Halifirien himself, in rhyme, said that what people like Jamal were pointing out was "no relevation". Which makes me believe that moderators themselves know that these GT threads are, in fact, insignificant and even distracting. So, technically, is flame-baiting. Preferences over preferences. I did not even have to say it.

Strictly speaking, by snooping into the infraction list to see the reason for it, the Jamal read-only thing is not for making or participating in the various GT threads, but for repeatedly complaining about their deletion in an unrelated 3.7 feedback topic. Doubt the complaints themselves merit any infraction - it shouldn't be forbidden to question a moderation decision - but I'm guessing it was due to the relative spamming about it, and doing so in an unrelated topic.

As for his complaints themselves, I'm actually rather concerned about that myself, primarily because the deleted topics were perma-deleted, without any public - or even private mod-forum - explanation for it, and definitely without any sign of some normal poster reporting the post for being offended by it. I'm not even sure who did it. (Here, fire, have some fuel.)

(FYI: There are two sorts of deletes: a soft-delete for general moderation purposes, which provides an electronic paper trail to back up the deletion decision, as well as the ability to reverse the deletion if need be; and an unrecoverable - except maybe by admin? - perma-delete generally reserved for botspam or other such things that *nobody* would object to having deleted.)

As for how people *should* behave on GT, my opinion is this: act like adults, and realize that practically no accomplishment is all that impressive in an absolute sense, so don't go around judging stuff as worthy or not worthy of GT, because frankly almost nothing is if you're gonna go by that description. This applies to mods as well: if it's not shitting on someone,my view to leave it unless and until someone is offended and reports the post. (But that's just my opinion of how GT should be handled. The official definition is a little different, and that's the one you're stuck with unless it changes. :P)

The thing is, I and others don't think others base it in an absolute sense, they base it in a reasonable sense. Being an adult is being reasonable and having self-control about what you are posting and knowing when the time is the right time. What kind of threads are these? The GT thread speaks for itself, not all threads are crapped on. Use your own discretion and if it is not good people should have the right to say so for the benefit of the GT forum as a whole.

Many of the things that are soft-deleted are not personal attacks on people, rather the actions the take within the GT thread. The I'm offended your suspended attitude is for high school administrators not a forum where free speech and discourse ought to be promoted.

The problem with moderation rules as are is that the line is slippery even though guidelines are laid out. Gauging how someone may be offended is so hard to do. Two of the last three technical flamebaits I have done I actually got rated up by some people I was pointing out. There is a reason free speech in the US is only curtailed because of things like hate speech, and libel, not via pointing out the obvious in a slightly sarcastic way.

Can we get an opinion from someone that matters now..

Die in a fire.

To everyone else this has never been about posting a GT thread to say you had a good time it's about the stuff that gets posted because people want recognition for something that a retarded monkey or a computer program can do.

So wait, was Aud's GT thread removed as a hate crime or a conspiracy? Reading all this crap and wondering what the hell i would have to live on this forum to have seen all of is confusing me...

Anyway, Aud 'grats. Didn't get a chance to post it previously, but I was glad to be able to help.

To everyone: GT posts are generally retarded, Flameboard posts are generally retarded, internet message boards are generally retarded... Simple solution, if you don't care don't pay any attention.

There are reasons I have such a low post count here, I ignore almost all of what is said, only reason I'm posting here is... Well I'm not sure, I think it's to have Audino's back, but when I look at the gross ignorance or angst coming from his attackers, it doesn't seem necessary...

Right, anyway more popcorn.

I do it to argue with myself. Just being honest!

First, to whatever mod reads this (since I need approval to get posts through) -- No explanation has been given yet as to why I was given read-only access. This is my side of the story, since I have nothing to hide

Both. It's a prejudice against Arcane Garden Members writing good times posts Both Wills and Auds had flamebaiting in them from other people, yet the threads were deleted, not the posts in question. Flashback to last week when I flamebaited Davion. My post was deleted, not the entire thread. The conspiracy also exists, an act to cover up Neyla reporting Will's post and deleting it himself. Halifarian (Neyla's BFF) then flamebaited me, Miros baited me more, and I responded how one should to a flamebait, by flaming. Now because I responded to mod-abuse by calling them out asking for explanations for deletion of entire threads of my 2 best friends in game I was put to read only status. Not the people who fucked up, but me for calling them out on it.

Audino's post being hard-deleted is just god awful. I was well aware of which moderation staff were on at the time. My guess as well is that its the same person who hard-deleted my posts of the above Neyla incident in the 3.7 thread. My suggestion to Miros there was to investigate further Neyla self-reporting and deleting a thread unwarrantedly.

Spam deleting something you don't want to deal with when it holds merit is just as immature as me spamming it back up over and over. If you didn't want to see the spams, you should be talking to the people who deleted my friends threads, not to the threadowners themselves/

you think you're so smartie for it, don't you?

I'm not smart, I just know how to argue to make it seem like I am.

Its a baited tarp.
