I was defeated 48 times by Absolute Virtue...

I had no clue this was a big deal. I got a random tell to come out and help so I did. Seemed boring from a melee perspective, then I had to leave to run Dynamis.

The highlight of the video?

A close up of a Death of a certain Mithra...

Hmmm

In my defense, all I can say is that nobody... Absolutely (no pun intended) NOBODY was expecting--let alone, prepared for--Absolute Virtue to spawn.

Antares, Kaizen, Integralis, Perseverance, Purpose... None of us can take him in our current state.

what do you mean by 'in our current state'?

Devifoxx said:
And honestly? You can contest me and my opinion all you want on this. By saying "Oh (Such-And-Such) Linkshell could take it, no prob!" But really, that's nothing more than another opinion in itself, not fact.

"Devi, you're just saying that because YOU couldn't kill it."

No. I'm not.

I'm saying that because I've been playing this game since NA Release, and I know how you all play. Eventually, someone will be able to kill Absolute Virtue, but I stick by my opinion that nobody was prepared for him on That Particular Night

well yeah, you spawned it at a freaky early time, most NA weren't even around.. lol

I do believe they mentioned before that they didnt' expect AV to spawn, thus him spawning early. Besides, do you honestly think they'd ask Kaizen to come help them? Or do you want them to pop him earlier next time so Kaizen can come steal it so they can try?

dont come in this thread starting shit too lUzor.. all i said is that they spawned it at an odd time... besides any time you spawn a NM that has a chance to spawn something else, you should be prepared.

They obviously had enough people on to kill J'lo at the time, so why does it matter when they spawn it?

And I'm not the one starting shit. If any other LS spawned him, people would congratulate them. Right now, all I hear people saying is "You spawned him at an odd time", or "The other LS's could atleast have had a shot".

riiight. sorry , i think rappa said it best and this is probably why the thread has been filled the way it has.

Rappa said:
Um... congrats? Sorry for the lack of being impressed, but I can think of a lot more things I'd enjoy doing more than dying over and over against something I have negative percent chance to kill. If that floats your boat though, go on with your bad selves! *high five*

I like how people even argue and seem to become upset over the time another linkshell's decision to pop an nm that they have farmed pop items for even though it caused absolutely not conflict with another linkshell trying to pop that nm. I guess we can't do anything right. :(

I think the issue ties in with some of the points that were made within the "If it's yellow..." thread. People see AV as a set of items that can be attained. Regardless of who actually does the killing, I would argue the server is better off having those items then not having them. Just letting AV de-pop is a lost opportunity for a chance at those items.

That's why people are angry, I believe.

Disagree. One of those NA shells will take him down within the next few months is my prediction. As well, what happened to the idea of banding together to accomplish something difficult, or possibly even communicating? If individually, those shells "cannot" kill AV, why wouldn't a "best of breed" team from all or any of those shells be able to kill it?

Kaizen has done most if not all of the largest fights this game has to offer, most of which most NA have not had the chance to do. The natural progression to improvement suggests that they take on AV next, because they haven't had the chance to fight it before. Is this monster really inherantly difficult, or is it hard because a strategy has not been set in stone for everyone? I think "the current state" in terms of ability to kill is just fine.

They shouldn't be angry. They put forth absolutely zero effort into getting the pop items nor did they put forth any effort into killing love, so why should they suddenly be allowed to fight a mob that popped because of what we've accomplished? I don't know about you, but I would be pissed if someone stole an nm that popped as a result of ME farming for weeks to get pop items and then having gone through a 2-3 hour fight just to reach.

While I do see the point you're trying to make, saying that if we weren't going to actually try, then someone else should at least be allowed to, I do not agree with it.

You don't give your gil away just because you've got more than you need and you also don't plan on spending it anytime soon. While the gil will always be there and AV won't, it's still the same principle.

I can guarantee you that any other shell that pops AV will feel the same way after farming for weeks, going through so many jailer fights, and then sitting through love for multiple hours. You don't just GIVE stuff like that away.

Now, if someone were to offer something in exchange, it would be a different story.

Yes, it's a touchy subject. Again, as I mentioned in the previous thread, possibly COMMUNICATION or making some sort of compromise would allow both parties to come away happy and satisfied.

On one hand, you have (A) the shell which is entitled fully to the claim but does not have the capacity to kill it. Then on the other hand you have (B) another group of people or groups of people that are willing to try and might succeed.

What is so wrong with A and B teaming up and fighting it together? A gets most of the items, and B gets a smaller amount, proportionate to the time it takes to accumulate those items?

Like I said, they are bargaining with their ability to kill, vs your clear entitlement to the pop items and subsequent drops.

Neophytal said:
who was saying they were gonna steal it since it was yellow?

No one. Everyone knew it belonged to Antares re-gardless of the purple/yellow status, so all other shells were waiting for some action on their part to kill. At least this is what I assume, based on my own actions.

Maybe the major sea shells should schedule times to kill Love so that the other shells can gather to watch at that time to help if virtue pops.

I know, I know, sugar and spice blown up your ass, but it would be nice to take AV down.

So no one on quetzy has taken down AV before? Or is just really hard to pull off?

Looking at Eulore's comment on page 6 just intimidated the ???? out of me, and with the new magic resistance buildup trait for nms. Will it ever be possible?

i remember reading the play by play one of the first times AV was ever defeated...they had a screenshot of three plds, 2 NA's, 1 JP, representing the three top Ls's on they server. Now, i recognize that there's some ill will between some shells on Quetz, and from what i've heard, theres probable cause. But most of that ish was b4 my time, and personally, i try not to hate in a digital word. For all extensive purposes AV is the god of gods in our final fantasy universe. Everyone gets all hopped up on items and drops that they forget the thrill of the kill. Yeah, we popped JoL late by NA times, but i did all i could to keep im up until more kats was awake. Close to two hours i rushed him, died, raised up (respek Q and random raisers) and rushed him again. and if it wasnt for a freakishly early depop, i would have had AV waiting for Antares, Kaizen, and Perseverance (listed in alphabetical order) to work something out. Get numbers, get organized, get a strategy, get over yourselfs, and get Virtue dead. But hey, next time yah?

</bow>

p.s. only the 1st half dozen kills lost me any xp, the other 42 deaths, nothing was lost but time.

p.p.s. if i learned one thing from my encounter with Absolute Virtue...I'll never, eeeeeeeever, say loldrg again.

Everyone needs to adopt this attitude.

.

And this is what we need more of. People excited to play the game. You wonder why so many people bicker all the time? Not enough people are like this. Wanting to get people together to achieve the same common goal is something this game is focused on, but seriously lacks in the end. It's all about competition on who gets what. Isomiau is right, what ever happened to doing things for the fun of it? Massive flames launched at me aside, you all started this game to have fun.
